So, Panic! At The Disco are coming to perth on August 27th and supporting them is The Academy Is and Cobra Starship. Now, Panic! have a competition where bands like us can support them on tour, opening the show.

So if you'd like to see us play on stage right before that freakin' awesome line up, then we need your help. Panic! At The Disco have a tour support myspace at www.myspace.com/patdtoursupport and if you go to that myspace, you'll see a Blog titled "A proper introduction with Panic at the disco". Open that blog and you'll see millions of pages of comments by people rallying for their favourite local band to play the support. I've trolled through and -very- few bands have applied for Perth. Except us.

So! If you can open that blog, click 'comment' and SPAM them really hard with anything in our favour, we will be forever in love with you. Make a banner, type out some words, tell them that we deserve the support (if you think we do) and do it a few times! Make sure you mention that it is The Bullet Holes for Perth! And most importantly, get your friends to too! Because we can't do this alone.

But! The competition closes on the 27th June, and this is this Friday! So we've got a really short time, so please - go nuts!!

Courtesy of Chloe, here is an example of some banners! Get inventive!

Thanks to all who came down to HQ yesterday!

It was great to see so many people turn up. And thanks to those of you who stuck around to support the other bands on the bill. They all did a great job and were even kind enough to play for free. We had a great time and we'll be ready to go again next saturday!

Also a special thanks to anyone who took a brick and signed a postcard (if you don't know what I'm talking about, never mind) we got exactly 100 signed plus some more on the petition! Without people like you taking part in these sorts of things, nothing would ever change. It exites me to know that there are people that care enough about other people to do something about it. And it's not just about the people of China. It's about humanity and the value of every human life and their right to be treated accordingly as per the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Well done all of you!

Love Peace and Hope,
Owen

Hey everyone!

I know we're not playing at this gig but it's a sweet line up and an even better cause.

The Oaktree Foundation WA is proud to present the Oneday event Rock for Paper and Scissors -  massive night featuring some great Perth bands, helping raise valuable funds for education projects in East Timor.

Oaktree is partnering with projects on the ground dedicated to rebuilding schools, provinding scholarships for vulnerable children training local teachers and
creating small scale libraries to assist children to learn to read. In East Timor, education means not only the chance for individual empowerment, but teaching the future generation of leaders to see hope and peace beyond conflict.

The Oaktree Foundation are a great organisation and the first entirely youth run aid and development organisation and they're doing alot of great things. To find out more or get involved go to the Oaktree web site!

The past five days or so, we've spending afternoons / evening after work at Ferg's place, playing Wii, eating, and even occasionally demoing in preparation for our impending recording time at couch!

We've had the stuff set up in his house (his family is out of town so we've taken over the place) so that we can pick our instruments up and record whenever we feel like it. We've demoed some pretty slick sounding versions (well, for home demos) of Trivialise and Take It Or Leave It which will be the two A-side tracks off the upcoming double single. A couple of live tracks will be on there too from the live recording, mixed and made all sparkly sounding by the always awesome James Newhouse.

Anyway, Ferg followed us around with a camera and threw together an awesome two minute video - it looks pretty cool, and you can hear some new stuff in there, as well as seeing us making fools of ourselves. Check it out, and if you like what you see then stick the video on your page and/or tell other people about it.

Do you have a digital camera or a phone that takes pictures?

Do you have 5 minutes?

If you answered yes to both questions, then follow these simple instructions:

1. Take a picture of yourself with the MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY logo and your postcode.

2. Send your MMS to 044733FACE or go to http://www.faceup.optus.com.au and upload your photo.

If you did that then you just added your name, or rather your face, to the Face Up to Poverty petition.  This petition aims to kick start our Government into a correct response to its promise of halving world poverty by 2015.  In 2000, they promised to commit to donating 0.7% of the country's GNI (Gross National Income) by 2015, however we're coming up to the half way mark and we're not half way there.  We need to encourage our Government to follow through with what they promised the world they would achieve.

Please, spare a few moments to be a part what is growing here, and let's Make Poverty History together!

The kiddies will love you!

So tonight we played in the last heat of the next big thing band comp. We were up against some pretty tough opposition. The venue itself was strange, everyone was sitting down at tables, and the vibe was very weird indeed. Sean was pretty sick, so we were a little nervous, but played a great set! The crowd reaction was pretty good too....

To top it off, we won it as well! So we get some prizes and stuff, but more importantly we make it into the semis! The City Watch made it through to the semis in second place from our heat also. We'll be joining some of our friends who are in t he semis such as Skyrocket Fights, The Howlin' Novocaines, The Harlequin League and The Remedials. Plus also some other really great bands too. Those are just the ones that are friends of ours who spring to mind at the moment. I'm not sure which of the semi finals we'll be in, as there are two, but we'll keep you posted. It'd be nice if we were in the amplifier one, as we haven't played there before!

Anyway, thankyou to all the lovely people who came along to support us, and also thankyou to the people who came for the other bands and cheered for us anyway, you made us very very happy!

Well! We have been putting a lot of time, effort, and stressful energy into the preparation for this event. It shall be most wonderous. Most wonderous indeed. But for the event to even exist, it requires 2 things: Us, and You!*

As the poster indicates, we are playing with wonderful local bands Shake Angel and NPO, this coming saturday night (the 23rd) at The Warehouse! Unfortunately, we had some trouble booking these bands and have only just confirmed that line up, so now comes the difficult task of Letting people know about the gig! This is where we need everyone's help.

Attached to this blog is a code. If you copy and paste it in your profile, the banner will magically appear (!!!) for all to see! And this would be a most wonderous thing, but not as wonderous as the actual gig that it is for! We, The Bullet Holes, need your help. If you feel so kind as to put the poster on your page, we'll be extremely thankful! And if you feel like popping it on a friends page, via a comment, that would also be great! We've kept it to a decent size so hopefully it won't pollute their comments section.

And to vvery listener, every myspace page viewer, every one who takes up this challenge to help get our name out, and to anyone of you who even shows a little interest in us, please know that you are oh-so precious to us. Without you all, we'd be doomed. And I wouldn't imagine being doomed is particularly 'wonderous', in the sense that this gig will be!

We look forward to seeing you at the gig. Remember, it will be recorded, and two of the recorded tracks will be released on our next CD. So, if you cheer loud enough, you may even hear your voice on a proper CD. We would love that so very much!

Take care, and much love to you all.

(* There are actually many others parts involved, including instruments, sound technicians and lights etc, but I kept them out because I was trying to be dramatic. It's what I do best!)

So, I am writing this now we're home safe and sleepy, back from a whirlwind Albany tour with our buddies from skyrocket fights! This is going to be a marathon entry, because I'm writing it while it's fresh in my head! If you get bored, just skip through and look at the photos!

Thursday!
The four of us (the band, plus ferg) met up at brad's house to load up the cars with all our gear, take some stupid photos, and head off down to Albany! We'd decided to drive down earlyish in order to avoid night driving. Ferg and Owen in one car, Brad and Sean in the other. Anyway, you'll notice "the bullet holes" stuck in letter magnets on the side of the sean-mobile. This provided an endless source of hilarity through the trip, reshuffling the letter to come up with the best anagrams we could. I'll stick in some photos of the various combinations people came up with a little later on!

Four hours later, we arrived in Albany. After a quick look around the time, the other two arrived, and we grabbed some dinner, and found out the skyrockets crew were going to be extremely late, so after some last minute accommodation re-shuffling, we headed over to Matt's mum's place. To the caravan! So, we crammed four of us into the caravan for the first night – on top of being a caravan built for two, there were two large leather backed office chairs in there, which were impossible to remove – they'd been constructed inside, so there was no prospect of removal! After some acoustic jamming (the new stuff sounds excellenet people, be VERY excited) and a tense few rounds of the pirate-dice game (brad bowed out early, and I beat sean in a close finish!) we got an early(ish) night. No prizes for guessing who got the floor!

Friday
Up nice and early the next morning to meet up with the skyrockets crew, and head over to the highschools where we were each playing a show in the lunch hours – we took ASHS (pronounced ashes) and the skyrockets gang took NASHS (nashes!) After a speedy setup, and a nearly non existent soundcheck, the bullet holes ripped into their set with ferocity, and the kids seemed to like it!

Afterwards we chatted to the kids, and met a group of guys who ended up being probably the BEST PEOPLE IN THE UNIVERSE! We're talking about jake and the rest of his crew (peter, callan, etc) – after jake graciously signed owen's setlist for him, we packed up and headed back to our various "homes" – myself and sean were then moved over to renae's place, where we had a lot more space than the caravan, as well as a bathroom with hot showers, and a tv with a lot of family guy DVDs! Guess what the bullet holes did that afternoon? Anyway, renae is a very cool girl – make friends with her if you ever get the chance! Nice brothers too.

Eveningtime meant heading over to saffron's parents' place (saffron's dad is skyrocket matt's brother – we were constantly confused as to who was related to who, and how, until the last night of the trip!) The girls were all off doing different things, which meant fish and chips, coffee, and very very violent action movies! But seriously, it was a sweet night, and a good chance to just kick back and chill with the guys, with everyone getting to know each other a little better.

Saturday
The big day – we headed over to RIPE, the youth group where we would be playing that evening's all ages gig. After setup, soundcheck, etc, we headed over to dome for a band meeting, coffee, and a couple of hours of conversation. Plus a lucky coincidence with us bumping into Jake/Peter/Callan at dome, and their hilarious sock art. Funny dudes….

Skip forward to Saturday evening, for the gigs. RIPE – steve fischer is an awesome dude, and puts on a sweet youth ministry! We were a little worried at first, with the guys kicking off a ten song set to a fairly empty room, but as the set progressed more and more people came in, and things were rocking pretty hard, with one of the most blistering renditions of Lost Cause I've ever heard. Afterwards, there was the obligatory signing of cds, stickers, shirts, appendages, and whatever, we grabbed photos with the BEST PEOPLE IN THE UNIVERSE and then busted a groove on over to the London, taking Renae and Kate with us to introduce us to the deaf sound guy (don't ask….) and make sure we didn't get screwed around or anything!

The London was pretty empty once we got there, which though a little disheartening, also relieved the pressure a little. We took our time setting up, as a few people started to filter through into the London back-bar. Midway through the set, we got a call from the running late skyrocket boys, asking us to stall for time, so we threw "a place we call home" and the willie mason cover "oxygen" into the mix to pad things out a bit.

Once the skyrocket dudes arrived, so did the party atmosphere! After selling a bit of merch, and loading into the cars, we were all set to leave. But we didn't really want to! There were new friends and new fans to chat to! So we kind of prolonged the goodbye – I wanted a photo with the two bands together, but the skyrockets dudes were already on stage by then, so owenbrad&sean crashed the stage mid-set and got a "band-buddies" photo. Gary is the one hidden at the back on the right - unfortunately you can't see him!

After this it was a hurried goodbye to our wonderful new friends, who made the tour an absolute blast (a blast, in Albany? I know! But seriously, it was a fun time INDEED.) In the first one is TEAM MANAGEMENT (myself & saffron) and the second is TEAM OTHER PEOPLE WHO WERE ALSO USEFUL (myself, nae and kate!)

The drive back to perth was long and painful, and we made it (only just – me and sean almost hit a kangaroo.) After a few hours sleep, it was up bright and early for yac it up. Woo!

Anyway, this wouldn't be complete without a few thankyous. Big thanks must go out to our buddies in skyrocket fights – Matt, Gary, Justin and Jordan. All four are absolutely fantastic guys. Team skyrocket's tour management are also the cat's pyjamas – the amazing band-manager Saffron (who made the entire trip happen) and her trusty sidekick, the wonderful Renae, who was a constant source of fun, hilarity, and directions! On top of those wonderful kids, all of the friends and relatives of skyrockets down in Albany who came to any of the shows, fed us, entertained us, or let us sleep on their floors – your generosity and warm welcomes will not be forgotten!

(Oh, and for anyone reading who was having trouble with the skyrockets family tree, I'll explain it to you! Saffron (the manager of SRF) has a brother named Jordan, who is the skyrockets drummer. She has a dad, who is the principal of NASHS I believe. Her uncle, and her dad's brother is matt, who is the frontman of skyrockets. Renae, Justin, and Gary are all just friends of the Sharp family, but not related!

And in case you thought we'd forgotten, here are a few of the more interesting anagrams we came up with. And I know, sometimes we didn't use all the letters!
