“I’m With The Band”/Bar Crawl--December 30th (VIP ONLY)

Midnight always comes so fast and before you can say “Annabel”... the ball has dropped, you’re missing a shoe, and your friends discover you “napping” in the hallway with a take-out menu in one hand and the hotel mini bar key in the other. Well... seeing how this is Pat’s event, he is able to offer VIP some extras this year.

The night before (yes, come early on December 30th), from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., there will be a performance/guitar lesson (seriously, bring your guitar)/Q&A session/happy hour/think tank, in an amazing on-site location called The Power Station, a historic loft-style building built in the 1800’s which Pat plans to transform into quite the scene for two nights.  Complimentary hors d'oeuvres will be provided; drink specials will be available for purchase.

At the conclusion of this event Pat will personally lead VIPs around ....Annapolis.... in his version of a “bar crawl.” One can only imagine what will ensue on this mighty quest for libation and jollification! This extraordinary and celebrated little town has more pubs and taverns than all of ..Ireland.. (seems like it, anyway), so let ....Annapolis.... know you are all there to revel. Oh, and by the way... you need two nights.

“Wine ‘Em, Dine ‘Em, 2010 ‘Em’”--December 31st (VIP ONLY)

An exclusive wine and cheese listening party with Pat and company from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. on December 31st at The Power Station at the Loews Annapolis Hotel. Pat will be debuting new material at this exclusive live acoustic performance. This will offer a relaxed atmosphere for great photo opportunities, signings (bring that souvenir bottle of vino down!), and a chance to catch up with Pat and the guys personally before the big night.

Optional Amenities for Everyone (at an additional cost)

January 1st New Years Day Breakfast, 10:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m.

For those of you who just can’t get enough, there will be an “I did WHAT last night?” reflection breakfast on January 1st hosted by Pat. Bloody Marys and Mimosas will be served along with the culinary masteries of the Loews decorated kitchen staff.

Photo Book

Professional photographer David Bergman will produce a photo book “rockumenting” Down the Hatch 2010 for purchase. He does amazing work and has shot the band over the years, along with their recent Rockin’ The Outer Banks. Say cheese!

Event details are subject to change.

Thursday, August 27, 2009

Hey Everyone, what a summer!  We've had some amazing shows in the ..Midwest.. and the East Coast . . .I am really looking forward to September and beyond, hittin’ Annapolis, Philly, NYC, as well as Northern Virginia to hang with our old friends Vertical Horizon on Sept 12th at Loudoun Festival. A big weekend, Sept 25 & 26, in beautiful southern ..Rhode Island.. at ..Ninigret.. ..Park.. in ....Charlestown..... All shows not to be missed!

You can Tweet, Facebook and waste hours and hours on the web, but seeing live music? . . . nothin like it. Get out of your homes and grab your friends--a very wise rock lyricist once wrote "join together with the band."

Later this fall we’re heading out to the Midwest with the full band rock ensemble, and also doing shows in Atlanta again at Eddie's, Charlotte, Blacksburg, Boston, as well as droppin into the Rockies in November. More on that later!

I went down to Nags Head, NC to finalize plans for next spring's getaway--I’ll keep you posted for sure. After this year's success, I’ve only just begun proving to you that I, Pat McGee, need not sleep. Ever. Just rock and share libations with friends . . .

We are putting together details for this New Year's Eve 2010, I’ve got something up my sleeve for sure.

I’ve been really busy writing my new record, for the first time ever, I have more music that I can deal with and it’s not stopping, So as soon as I figure out exactly what kind of record this is going to be, you’ll be the first to know. Well, maybe the second . . . he he

I am so excited that Sister Hazel went ahead and used two songs that I wrote with Ryan for the new record, Release. Tracks #1 and #2 are the tunes ”Release” and “Take A Bow,” both songs I plan to record, as well. (You might have heard at some of our recent shows.) Check out their new album on iTunes.

We are gearing up for Rock Boat Ten (Jan 7-11), lots and lots of friends on that cruise! We’ll have the whole rock ensemble and are planning on blowing peoples minds. I heard Dinky Wildwood is doing his own set. I’m afraid. Very afraid!

Other than that, I spend my nights in ..New England.., on my deck writing music and hanging with my family and friends. Life is pretty damn grand, even when it’s sometimes hard to get by. Be safe out there.

Take care
pat

Well well well...now THAT was something else! I am home now reflecting on what was one amazing weekend in North Carolina. I cannot thank you all enough for joining me and the guys.

“Rockin the Outer Banks”- We might have to come up with a more powerful name for such a supreme celebration of song and friendship. Where do I even begin to explain it to someone who didn’t get the chance to join us? All I can say is this...just wait til’ you see how I roll next year...My gears are already turning.

If you find yourself at work and bored or home pondering what an amazing time you had...please go look at Tourphotographer.com. There you can order a book or just some shots of the weekend. Also you can see how David Bergman has covered lots of previous shows for us. His work speaks for itself...simply amazing. He really captured the vibe of the weekend like no one else could.

A Plog if you will...

I flew down to the Outer Banks on Thursday morning ( 5 am leave ugh!), to make sure we were all loaded in and ready to welcome revelers on Friday. I say next year we make it a Thursday to Monday event. Who’s in? Sweet! Done. Anyhoo...me and the guys headed out on Thursday night and hit up some local hangs, ending up at the infamous, Barryoke...our buddy Barry’s Karaoke gig at a lil’ pub. Yeah,  we rocked it. Next year Barryoke comes to us! Seriously though next year we will have an official Thursday night game plan.

We hung on the beach Friday and greeted all the guests we could....the Happy hour hang on Friday night was great. We were sorry that Lionize couldn’t make it down but Brian stepped up to the plate big time and rocked a set of his own music. Thanks Techno!  It was nice to talk to so many fans that came from all the country.  It was a chance for us to hang and really get caught up that a normal show doesn’t generally allow for. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting you guys. Some of you I have known since the early 90’s and some were Pat McGee virgins. Thanks so much for taking a chance with us.

The set that Friday night was so fun, I have been out playing solo acoustic for a bit and it was such a release to get to rock out with the band. The relaxed vibe of the outer banks is perfect for a lil’ musical exploration. Thanks for allowing us that. Hence us playing my high school prom theme song for a new happy couple on stage. Wow.

It’s gonna take a few days to have my head cleared (by professionals, jk) and the sand out of pretty much everything I own...but with every granule that falls I smile and shake my head that THIS is actually my “job”. I can never thank you guys enough for it.

After the show that Friday night, I had a chance to hang out on the beach and play some tunes, which quickly became a gazebo when it started to rain on us. I will never forget you guys all singing at the top of your lungs to Come Back Home that night. Those experiences are just as powerful to me as playing in front of thousands of people. We stayed up til 5 am that night playing all sorts of random stuff. Maybe you guys never left because I was sitting on the ONLY cooler of cold beer, and you couldn’t! Either way, thanks!

So after sleeping for oh...45 min...I got up and hit the links with some diehards. Thanks Joe for putting the whole thing together. I played two holes with 4 different foursomes. It was so fun, although I was pretty much still  “joyous” from the night before (which had only ended about one hour before tee time), so that may have explained my numbness to the elements. It rained pretty bad on us for the first few holes. I was soaked and I’m pretty sure that is the only reason I kept hitting houses alongside the course. I loved it. It was a gorgeous scene there. Right on the ocean,  immaculate grounds and plenty of sand and water to nestle my ball....actually I did have a few good ones and nearly made a 96 foot putt!...again pure delirium was on my side. Next year, maybe the tee time is a tad bit later and we do it on Friday. We shall see...

When we got back from playing golf it was nearly time to hit the BBQ. The rain held out for a bit and then we moved it into the world famous rock arena Peppercorns (for those of you who didn’t attend the weekend, that’s the hotel “bar”) where Stephen Kellogg, me and the guys rocked a lil’ acoustic set, told some stories and had some laughs for sure. The sun came out and we all hit the beach til the night called us back to Kelly’s for yet again, another happy hour and night of rockin’. Stephen Kellogg’s set was so great, and we also had him up with us to rock out a few tunes. The crowd seemed to be a wee bit more out of control on Saturday night, which was just fine by me. I think some of the locals caught wind that we had a good thing goin and wanted to join in.

Later that night, we found ourselves back at the beach and the back deck of the hotel jammin til the sun came up. Literally, there are pictures to prove it! It was so great having my brother Hugh there to play tunes with and I know he really enjoyed meeting all you guys. My Sunday night ended with me and few pals being the first ones to the 7 AM Peppercorns breakfast. That was after we were trying to convince the local fast food drive thru’s to serve “walkers”...DOH!

So...all in all, it was an amazing experience and that was exactly what I set it out to be. An experience like none other. I am dedicated to making this an annual event and improving on it. Trust me when I say, I am ON IT! I’ll personally be sending out surveys and I urge you to be honest, I play music and throw parties so YOU can have a blast, let me know if you’d like to see changes made! Hell, if you all lived closer, to New England I would have you over to my OWN house for a full on rager...

Ok guys, take care, be safe (ish) and thanks again!

3 straight all-nighters, more great friendships, fabulous food and drink, and  lots of jammin’ tunes later...I am OUT!...zzzzzzzzzz goodnight.

See you out there somewhere this summer.
Most sincerely,
pat
