Hay unos ejecutivos que quieren traer una estacion de musica "Pop/Rock" a Austin, pero tenemos que demostrarles que si la queremos! "Kalua: A band with a vision. First, let me state, " I like Kalua." Kalua is a band of four young, charismatic, Latin men from Austin, Texas. They are Juan Diaz, (Mexico) vocals and guitar; Andres Junca, (Columbia) guitar; Andres Delgado, (Venezuela) drums and Andres Acevedo, (Columbia) bass. Kalua was part of the Revarsa party celebrating the Mexican independence this week at sazon restaurant in Austin, Texas. We played a show at the restaurant and also recorded an interview for Sonido Boombox. You can watch the interview today (Sept 18) at 8 pm on ME TV. Former Austin mayor Lee Cooke, SIMS Foundation founding director Peyton Wimmer and former Steamboat owner Danny Crooks revealed the full lineup for “Twang Dang Doodle” concerts Oct. 11 at Threadgill’s, Antone’s and Cedar Street Courtyard. Standing in front of the Stevie Ray Vaughan statue at Auditorium Shores (naturally), Crooks announced that participating acts include: Beto y Los Fairlanes, Vallejo, Extreme Heat, Two Nice Girls (their first show since 1992), Kalua, Carolyn Wonderland, Ian McLagan and the Bump Band, Bruce Robison, Oz Noy, Roscoe Beck, Anton Fig, Betty Soo, Monster Big Band, Greezy Wheels, Malford Milligan, Chris Layton, Riley Osbourne, Derek O’Brien, Shelly King and special guests. Kalua was present in this year's Latin ALternative Music Conference in New York City! The conference took place at the Historic Roosevelt Hotel in Midtown Manhattan. It was a great week for Kalua and we had an awesome time in New York. There is a small video about our trip in the video section of our page. Enjoy!

On May 10, 2009, Kalua performed against three rock en español bands in Houston's BK "Tu Ciudad, Tu Musica" contest for a chance to win $2,500, free music gear, 500 digital copies of "La Novedad" and a roundtrip flight to MIAMI to apper in the national TV show "ESCANDALO TV".
We are very proud to announce that Kalua has been chosen, once again, as the BK "Tu Ciudad, Tu Musica" Champions in Houston, Tx!! Thanks to everyone who has supported us along the way, and we are very excited about whats to come!
We will keep promoting "La Novedad" and will be working on a tour real soon (more details to come!). Record sales and fan support has been amazing so far, and we are very grateful to everyone who has been a part of this;
We hope to see each and everyone of you at the 2nd annual PACHANGA MUSIC FEST which will be held in Fiesta Gardens on May 30th (Check the flyer on our site for more details)!
