EP release!

We are finally releasing an EP in February called 'The Risky Woods' EP through Indie MP3 records!!!!

WOOO!

We had a little meeting on Thursday and ironed out some details.  The exact date will be announced after Xmas.

Interesting night actually, we ended up watching the lovely Shrag (http://www.myspace.com/shrag)

and then ended up spending a night round from Les Carter's house. (from Carter USM).
What a lovely man he is too.

A little bit of excitement here in Sequins camp just before Xmas.  I've  been a bit rubbish recently, but we have something to announce pretty soon.  Probably by Friday.

Just to keep you occupied for the time being, get this down you!

I've been finishing off some new Sequins recordings recently and have been wondering about the loudness war
This video is a pretty good explanation of it:

At the moment I've set loudness the songs to be louder than I'd personally like, but it's still much quieter than nearly all modern recordings. This really concerns me if people play our songs as part of a compilation playlist through an mp3 player as it will sound quieter than everything else.

Generally a quieter recording would effectively make it sound wimpy compared to Razorlight for instance. (Or the Kooks, the Hoosiers, the Fratellis or any number of those wonderful artists that make me feel blessed that I have ears... really they do)

So the question is, do I crank up the volume to have the same impact as other modern songs, or do I keep the volume down so that the recordings preserve their characteristics and sound quality.

At the moment I've set the bar halfway between what I think they should sound like and modern pop. Hmmmm...
I will leave you with another example of a band closer to our hearts:

Yes we will be announcing some kind of release shortly.  We need to dot some i's first etc...

A bit of excitement in the Sequins camp, however we are having a heated debate (arguing) about which songs to release.

On a lighter note for Halloween Steve recorded some vocals, but he was dressed as a zombie.  I wish I took a photo.  Never mind, you'll just have to imagine him singing a love song about homosexual football referee lusting after a player... dressed as the UNDEAD!  MWAHAHAHAHAHA!

I have to service all our electronic stuff.   It's a bit annoying.... but it does keep breaking.
Hopefully everything will work at the next gig.
Here are some photos from the gig at Taylor Johns courtesy of Joanne:

Note Hywel isn't doing a camp Nazi salute in the second photo. Just if you were confused...

Thanks to the people who attended our little gig at the Albany.
For those that did not make it, we introduced our new live keyboard player:
Tom the Pirate.

Here is another wonderfully flattering picture of him rocking out!!

Don't worry folks, we'll mould him into the next Spike Edney!

We've found the upstairs bit of local pub to record again!  Hopefully it won't get demolished or get burnt down.

I may drive our neighbours a bit mad over the next few weeks!

It was a bit dramatic!  Hywel was coming down with yet another disease, Donna was soooo hungover she was struggling to string a sentence to gether and the vocal PA decided to wail like a cat.

However we played through it all, and I thought we were pretty good!  The support act 'The Polar Rays' were fantastic guys as well.  Quite a bit of Gorkys!

I forgot to take some snaps.  Oh well never mind!

This is getting a bit annoying!

1st place - Demolished
2nd place - Burnt Down

It sounds like we curse anywhere I try to record our stuff!
