Just watched a show about the Carter family on pbs. America's 1st superstar family.
A.P. Carter would travel the countryside in search of all the old backwoods songs and stories he could find. He'd rearrange them a bit, maybe changing some lyrics here and there, then rehearse them with his wife Sara, and sister-in-law Maybelle.
And speaking of Maybelle, she was just 18 when they first recorded in 1927. Already she was an ace guitar player who'd developed a style all her own. Not to mention she was pretty hot too! (In an old fashioned, 1920's kind of way) She stayed in the business longer than the others, and is considered the first lady of country music.
sweetness.
