It's been said that it's good to have a 5 year plan in life, and so Wendy and I are doing just that. We're hoping that within 5 years we can sell our current house and move into beautiful Ross Bridge. We've already been looking at some houses over there and we've come across some floor plans that we really like. Now it's just a matter of saving up and planning. Plus we have to pimp our current house to make it attractive to potential buyers. A big kudos goes out to my dad for helping out in the back yard today. He's definitely earned a spot on the Rock Poll.

I installed a new ink cartridge in my printer this afternoon, but couldn't get the thing to work. It was like the printer didn't recognize the cartridge. The little "error" light kept blinking. So, I unplugged the printer in an effort to reset it. Now it's printing out tons and tons of jarbled code. I just keep re-inserting the same sheet so I won't waster reams of paper. I'm stuck in printer hell. Anyone else have this problem?

For the past four years it I have been going down a path that I felt compelled to travel. Signs along the road were pointing me in this direction, so I started my journey -- unsure of where it would lead, but confident that I was heading in the right direction.

This particular path has had its ups and downs, affecting me emotionally. I have been at the heights of excitement and exhiliration to the valleys of discouragement and hopelessness. But through it all my road map and the road signs reaffirmed my original choice -- this is the right path.

But lately it seems that I'm getting just as many road signs telling me to veer off and proceed in a new direction. So now I'm getting mixed signals. Some days I see signs that tell me to keep going, and then the very next day I see a warning sign that says, "Proceed with caution," or "Detour." It has left me feeling very confused and I know that any choice I make will affect the passengers in the back seat -- my wife and son.

One of my favorite songs is It Is Well With My Soul. The words from the third verse are particularly meaningful at this point in my life, "And Lord haste the day when the faith shall be sight."

Faith is a difficult concept for many to grasp, and those who do have a strong faith often  find that it is the strongest when things in life are going the way you want them to. Faith is much more difficult to hold on to when you're asking "why?" and God doesn't seem to answer.

I know the writer of the above lyrics was referring to the second coming of Christ when he penned these words, but I think they are applicable to many in our everyday lives. So many times I just want God to tell me exactly what he wants me to do. Sometimes I don't want to live by faith. I want to live by sight. It's much easier that way. So I can empathize with the words of It Is Well With My Soul. I want everything to be right there in front of me, so I know exactly what to do. But then I guess it wouldn't be faith.

It's so hard to continue on when it seems that hope is dwindling. It's so hard to pray when you don't think anyone is on the other end of the line. It's hard not to be apathetic, depressed, and discouraged. Somehow, someway, I know I have to keep trudging along. I have to believe better days are ahead. I have to believe God is listening. And I have to believe that all things will work out for good. Why? Because I love God (Romans 8:28).

When the Rave first opened up here in Birmingham a few years ago, I thought it was the greatest movie theatre ever - stadium seating, comfortable chairs, plenty of leg room, a variety of concessions - just an overall awesome experience. Then yesterday I came across this article on Slash Film boasting pics of a new movie theatre in Hong Kong. One word: incredible. Take a look and let me know what you think.
