We've had requests from fans who'd like to learn the lyrics so they can sing along at shows.. So here goes!

Don't Fight It

Run out the rails and tell them I’m leaving
Strike up the band and play what I’m feeling
Don’t trace the tracks that I leave behind

Cancel my cards and unplug the phone line
Change all the locks and lay out the landmines
Aint no one following me this time

Cos when you gotta go then you gotta go
If I’m gonna leave before I get the call
Would it kill you just to say this to my face

I know who you are and where you want to be
I know everything they told you about me (yeah)
I know when you’re gone forever
Really means you’re growing up
And worst of all I know it’s the end of us

Give up the search and call off the hound dogs
Hide all my keys like junk in the glove box
Cos where I’m going we don’t need roads

Tell It To My Tombstone

Call out the crew I want the world to see
Here lies our friend originality
We resurrect in the dead of night
We sing it together like were gonna start a fight

Do you want to come back down
From this hilltop height where you might hit the ground
I'll keep your seat and you keep mine
And we’ll raise the dead together tonight

I’ll keep a note to find you when you go
(Don’t let go, don’t you let go)
Slow back down (Slow back down)
Don't talk me down

Give up the ghost of who we used to know
(Don’t let go, don’t you let go)
Slow back down
Don't talk me down

Put out the word I want the kids to know
You’ll never get it if you don’t see the show
We’re taking names, till the morning light
So bring out your bodies 'cause we’re gonna go all night

Show Me What You're Made Of

Don't be surprised if you wake up next to him
Leave me behind I'm already blending in
Get to the point if you get anywhere at all
I'd rather leave than leave a body on the floor

So just act like every thing's alright
You wanna lay this out in black and white
Come on now, show me what you're made of

Let me down, do you really wanna start a fight?
The words won't fit the crime (Don't try and cover up this time)
Shut me out, like you ever really had to try
The evidence won't lie (Case closed tonight for you and I)

Lace up, ship out, you've got some miles left to run
Stick to the roads, you better hope they get you home
Head over heels who's gonna catch you if you fall
Takes one to know one when your back's against the wall

Show me what you're made of
Anyone can see

Everyone's Doing It Now

Don’t say a word
You’ve got a lot of nerve talking back
Cos I figured you out (yeah you heard)
You only get what you deserve

Shout at the radio
Shout at the devil who poisoned the speakers
You’re sleeping your way to the top
We’ll call you out if you don’t stop

And we don’t know whatever happened
To a place that we called home
But my map is marked with memories

Get up, get out and go where you want to
Break in, break out I’ll leave if I have to
Get up, get out and do what you want to
Don’t make a scene baby everyone’s doing it now

Give me your alibi
Give me a reason to give you a moment of my time
It’s more than you’re worth
You’ll never know till you get burned

Winners Can't Be Choosers

I never thought I'd be a winner but I lost her all the same
I never thought we'd last forever but then a stray will run away
But if a lesson learned is harder then maybe that's why
Cos you’re only young and the damage is done so please keep me in mind

It’s not the way I'm feeling
That's got me running to her door
It's just the season believe me
Begging me for more

It's like your up on stage and your holding his hand
While I'm stuck here sitting in the audience
I'm like a well-worn suit clocking 9 to 5
While you rock and roll all day and stay out all night

I never showed that much emotion and baby that's why
Cos a heart worn on the sleeve is worth a million more than mine

So, we’re all done with our recording! We had a fantastic time recording with our friend Matty O’Grady (who is immaculate). The songs came out better than we could have imagined! You’ll see our studio diary video up on the Myspace page very soon.

The Mini-Album will be called ‘Let it show’, here’s the track-listing:

1. Everyone’s doing it now
2. Winners can’t be choosers
3. Don’t fight it
4. Tell it to my tombstone
5. Show me what you’re made of

(They may not be in that exact order, but more or less like that)

You’ve probably seen the countdown clock at the top of our Myspace page – counting down to the ‘Big Reveal’ on the 1st of October. That’s the date you’ll be able to hear the new tracks plus other goodies…

Meanwhile keep checking back for other nuggets that we may drop along the way.

Peace out.

Okay – so you may be wondering: “if you guys went into the studio a month ago, how come we haven’t seen or heard anything about it?”

Well – as fate would have it, we had to hold off on recording for a few weeks. We won’t bore you with the details, but the important new is that we WILL be going into the studio this coming Monday (the 24th of August) to record our debut mini-album with the legendary Matty O’Grady (formally of Fastlane, currently producing all your favourite bands)!

We’ve pruned the CD down to 6 tracks now (though, if time allows, we may record an extra song), and in the extra pre-production time we’ve had, we actually wrote a new song! So now we’re extremely confident that the 6 songs going on the CD are the best we could produce and they all fit together very nicely.

We are taking a video camera/laptop with us and plan to do a few video diaries while we’re in the studio – so look out for those. We’re also having some kind of beard growing competition, which is apparently a good luck ritual for any musicians working in the studio. As the hairiest member of the band, I hope to win the competition. However, I may yet be challenged by our bassist Ryan (who can sport a considerable bit of growth himself).

Love and Peace

Hey, what’s shakin’ gang?

On Monday 20th July we go into the studio to record our debut CD. We’re all so excited about getting these songs (we’ve been working on them for months) down on tape (or to be more accurate Hard Disk – as modern studio recording is all done on computers now – or “recording tellies” as our friend Tim likes to call them!).

We now have all 7 tracks written and ready to go. We’ll be spending the next week and a bit tidying them all up, working out final tempos and making last adjustments to melodies and lyrics.

We’re hoping to do some kind of video diary while were in the studio which will go up once we’re done there. That’ll probably be the first place you get to hear the new songs – so keep an eye out for it!

Once we get this CD out there, hopefully you’ll be seeing and hearing a lot more of us – so keep checking back for updates and new dates!

One love – AWC

PS: We have a big ‘ol van now so the road is our oyster (or something). It’s got beds and TV’s and stuff so it’s well pimp yo.

Just a quickie to tell you we’ve uploaded a brand new video for our song “Tell it to my Tombstone”, which was filmed last week at the Junction in Cambridge. If you were there maybe you’re in it! Check it out here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySukKyB2Jv8

You may have also noticed we put a little teaser from the demos we recorded a few weeks ago. In 5 weeks time we’ll be hitting the studio to record them for real, so we’ve been working hard to make sure the songs are top-notch.

That’s all for now!

Peace.

Ah, the humble blog – in this era of Tweeting and Facebook Status updating, it’s easy to neglect the old fashioned weB LOG (see how it got its name?). We’re as guilty as anyone else – but we thought we’d try and make amends, so here goes: Blog update June 2009!

The thing we’re buzzing about the most is recording our debut mini-album in July. We’re planning to have 6 songs on there, and we’ve been writing our socks off for the last few months coming up with material good enough to make the cut.

We recently demoed 5 of the songs we have so far. After listening back we decided to crack on with a few more songs and make some changes to the stuff we already have. This way we’ll end up with more material than we need, but we’ll use only the best stuff for the mini-album.

We had thought about putting up some of the demos here on the myspace page, but being the perfectionists we are, decided we only wanted you guys to hear the finished product – Hopefully it’ll be worth the wait!

If you want to hear our new stuff now, then you’ll have to get your behind down to one of our gigs. We’ve got a few lined up over the next couple of months, including the 5th of June in Cambridge supporting Attack! Attack! They’re a great band, and really flying the flag for our kind of music right now. Check out their self-titled album if you get chance. Tickets are available from The Junction’s website: www.junction.co.uk or from us. Hope to see you at the show!

Meanwhile keep checking back here for more regular blogs (we promise!) and plenty of tweeting!

Hello,

It’s been a while since we have posted up some news so here are the latest updates from the As We Climb camp:

Firstly we would like to welcome our new bass player Ryan to the family! Ryan joined us last month and we have been holed up down Mulletboy studios practicing hard and writing new material. It is coming along really well and we can’t wait for you to hear it! The sugar coated beatdown’s are still there plus huge guitar riffs, solos, massive hooks and killer three way harmonies!

As We Climb’s line up is now complete:

Ben – Vocals & Guitar
James – Guitar & Vocals
Ben TF – Drums & Vocals
Ryan – Bass & Vocals

We are planning on getting some nice new glossy press shots up soon so you can see our lovely faces!

The next big news is we are booked in for a day down at Outhouse Studios in Reading to record with the mighty John Mitchell (Enter Shikari, Funeral For A Friend, You Me At 6 etc) We are super excited about this and can’t wait to record a brand new shiny track for your listening pleasure. We will be recording a new song which we are currently working on……. More news on that soon but we are mega pleased with how it’s coming along!

The other news is we have booked our first two shows!! 19th February @ The Portland Arms with an awesome band called The First (Lockjaw Records) and our good buddies Villa Savoye! You don’t want to miss this show it’s going to be awesome! We also have another show booked on the 28th February @ The Murrey Edwards College Bar. More shows to follow so keep an eye on the MySpace for more updates.

Keep checking the MySpace for more news and hope to see you on the 19th February!

Lots of Love
