Wednesday night will be Italo Disco night as we launch the new Jakokoyak single - 'Look Away Now (If You Don't Want To Know The Score)'. If you like your Ed Banger tunes and plenty of lazer beam dance music, then come on over for this special night of electronica and italo tchunes.

The strictly ltd edition single in handmade packaging will be available at the gid and will feature  b-sides including a special remix by Sinner DC (Switzerland), Plyci (Wales) and a song that only dogs will be able to hear due to the high frequency.

CATE LE BON
The next musical offering served by peski will be the charming 'Edrych yn llygaid ceffyl benthyg' EP by up and coming Welsh starlet Cate Le Bon. This five track EP will be released on 10" white vinyl on June the 30th, and is a beautifully shonky musical journey from start to finish, strung together by Cate Le Bon's haunting voice and her unique vocal melodies.
Having already supported Gruff Rhys on his UK tour, played Glastonbury, Latitude and The Green Man festival she has also featured as a guest vocalist on Neon Neon's single 'I Lust You'. You can watch the video of the single via you tube here:

TEXAS RADIO BAND
The release date of the wonderfully titled 'Gavin' LP from Carmarthenshire's finest, Texas Radio Band, has been a rumour that has teased and taunted music lovers for years. Rest assured children, this glorious 2nd album from the band will be available from all good candy stores on July 7th. The album will be preceded with the download only double A side 'I will be coming home/ Swynol' available for free on Kimberley Records from 19th May onwards. The release of Gavin will be a first for peski as it will be a joint release with Kimberley records. While not up there with EMI and Time Warner as the merging of two great musical empires, our mutual admiration for the musical underdog has seen us team up to release this gem.

JAKOKOYAK
Folktronic's favourite elusive son, Jakokoyak, has been residing in a land where the concept of time has yet to be discovered. The Willy Wonka of Welsh music has been locked away in his factory working away with his oompa loompas creating one musical delight after another. Our spies promise us that his imminent masterpiece 'aerophlot' will be every bit as bold and inventive as we dared to imagine. Going with theory that the most original inventions come out in Japan before anywhere else, 'aerophlot' it seems, will be no exception. The song 'Boddi' will feature on a compilation album by the fantastic Rallyee record label, with hopefully 'aerophlot' in its entirety to follow. The compilation album 'Goodbye Blue Monday' will be released in May and features Au Revoir Simone, Rubies and The Rosie Taylor Project amongst others.

DAVID MYSTERIOUS
We seem to collect maverick hermits at peski, which brings us to the aptly titled David Mysterious. At this moment in time he can be found in Italy playing bass for Monkey Island on their tour of the country. However, word has reached us that a new album is ready to be released this year. It seems David has been passing the years since the release of the 'Troubador of the Unknown' EP working in a prison in Exeter, joining concertina clubs, releasing compilation albums of music found in charity shops and supporting The Young Knives. His new album 'Jongleur De Morte' is a joy to behold, especially if you're a little strange. It's the musical equivalent of visiting your grandmothers attic and discovering all kinds of weird and wonderful things lurking in the dusty corners.

"Where is Dennis is an upbeat pop tune that will appeal to the lighter hearted, regular-sized jeans side of the indie scene. The B-side, Cartoon Cariad sounds like the Libertines meeting the Hoosiers.

Where is Dennis opens with an accordion-sounding organ that is fun at first, but irritating the fifth time around. The song is awash with synth melodies and vocal harmonies and a general pleasant, happy sound until briefly in the middle.

On the cue line "Let the massacre begin", your ears are insulted with a crude smashing of instruments and general atonal, dissonant nonsense. It's great fun!

Where is Dennis isn't meant to be a complex song. It's there to be enjoyed without analysis or in depth thought. Jump to the beat, hum to the tune, sing (or screech) to the lyrics – that's what it's for.

Cartoon Cariad is a story of schoolboy love. A tune that would make wheelchair-bound paraplegics get up and dance. The sort of song that covers you in beer thrown across the dancefloor by other merry revellers.

The song has its jump around moments and its "let's grab the nearest stranger and man-hug while we sing along" bits. Frankly, Cartoon Cariad is better than Where is Dennis. A strong release from Radio Luxembourg and will no doubt be successful."

Radio Luxembourg are a Welsh pop band. Their next single is due for release on 5th November on Peski Records. I loved their previous EP 'Diwrnod efo'r Anifeiliaid EP' - which I described at the time as "some of the finest psychedelic pop I have heard in some time", and this new two track single does little to dispel my initial thoughts.

The band are known for singing in their native tongue - but this time around it's English all around. Opening song 'Where is Dennis?' starts with a cheesy organ sound and before you know it you are whirling around one of the pop tunes of the year. This is sunshine pop music, recalling other Welsh luminaries Gorky's and Super Furries - but it has more than enough of it's own personality to be more than a mere clone. The 'B' Side 'Cartoon Cariad' (which translates as 'Cartoon Love') is another great slice of pop music. A tale of falling in love whilst at School and indeed it was written when some of the band were still in school - which most mean the music lessons in Aberystwyth are something else! It simply makes me wanna get up and dance. Great stuff.

The band are currently on a UK tour (see their My Space for full details) and as I can testify having seen them at a previous Lost Music night - they are a must catch band. You can stream 'Where is Dennis?' on the Peski Records My Space page.
