Thanks to all of the awesome folks at Louisiana State Paranormal Research Society, a clip will be played of an upstairs Bechet House bedroom on the Maury show tomorrow! We will have the video up on our site soon and we will be playing it at the Halloween Costume Ball this Saturday in case you miss it. It is that time of year again! Bechet House is proud to provide Lafayette parish with one of the best HALLOWEEN parties in the around! The Bechet House has been examined and confirmed as an OFFICIAL INTELLIGENT HAUNTING by the LOUISIANA PARANORMAL RESEARCH SOCIETY!! Come hang out with us and our newly discovered guests! This years entertainment includes:

Hollow Mourning

The Bechet House is an artist friendly B&B 6 short miles from downtown Lafayette. We had a cancellation and now have 2 queen rooms and 1 deluxe King room from Friday - Sunday. We will house musicians, artists and festival workers for reduced fees, starting at $65/night. The deluxe king room is specialzed for roadwarriers with 2 showers and sleeping accomadations for up to 5.

The Bechet House has graciously accepted the offer to host a 9' grand piano courtesy of Gitz Music in Lafayette for a year. Cheramie would like to thank Mr. Steve Gitz for allowing the Bechet House the use of this instrument, and his strapping crew for delivering it. It has found a lovely temporary home, and it will not collect any dust.

The New Year's Eve Party was amazing. We had a fantastic crowd, wonderful musicians, beautiful belly dancers, and great food. The Bechet House crew would like to thank all of you that attended this event, and made it successful. Of course, there will be more to come in 2009 because unlike most B&Bs we rule!

     The Louisiana State Paranormal Research Society came to the Bechet House to research several claims that have been made by guests and former owners. The evidence has yet to be concluded, but having attended the hunt I must admit that several unexplained occurrences happened throughout the evening. The most interesting took place in the business suite downstairs and the queen room upstairs. It seems that one of the spirits was able to affirm questions with the use of an old flashlight by turning the light on, off, and flickering it depending upon the questions posed.

     To be assured that the batteries were not defective the group replaced the batteries and placed the flashlight back in the middle of the bed. Once this occured, the communication began again and continued for an hour. Now, I am a skeptic by nature, but I went into the room and viewed it through the night vision cameras. No one was close enough to manipulate the flashlight without me witnessing it. I thought that the batteries may have been failing, but the variations followed the commands and questions consistantly.

     Does this mean the Bechet House is haunted? I do not know, but if I had to base my belief on evidence, then I must admit the evidence is strongly in favor of some sort of spiritual, or abnormal energetic activity. Watching the light turn on and off on its own was only one of the many occurrences that influenced this conclusion. Of course, we will test this communicative capability with the other side again in the near future, but right now we are processing all that has occured in the past two weeks.

The Bechet House is happy to announce its first New Year's Eve Pajama Party. The enterainment will be amazing as always and include acts: Peckernut Habibi Bizzare Belly Dancers Tareq Almulaifi, the George Green Project and more... We look forward to seeing you there.

The 3rd Annual Halloween Costume Ball was a great time. Pictures and video will be up very soon. We would like to thank the hard work of all of our full time & volunteer staff: Rory, Wohdee, Sharon, Marshall, Andrew, Julie, Anna, Tony, & Angelo. We could not have put on this event with you!
