Hey, how you doing? It's about that time for another Hot Mix 100. Part 8 is up and waiting to be downloaded, and to help give our forthcoming Kitsune single a shove in the right direction, we've made it pure D.I.S.C.O! We're talking 30 years of dancefloor dazzlers, going way back, back into time, ready for some more, hit that floor the great days are back again!

Picture yourself in the swinging free 70's down at NYC's Studio 54 or Paradise Garage, with cuts from legends such as Dianna Ross, the temptations & Cerrone, to the debauched drug-fuelled 80's and the Nu-Wave Glam Punk explosion at London's famous hang outs such as the Mud Club, Planets and the Blitz, with cuts from Sparks, Imagination, Duran Duran and S'Express, through to the 90's where House music dominated at clubs all over the world, including cuts from DJ Sneak & Farley Jackmaster Funk, Klatsch & Dimitri From Paris....and finally to the present day, where the revamped & regenerated Nu-Wave Electro Disco sound dominates once more, and the French Ed Banger/Kitsune explosion reaching all corners of the globe...kids are dancing to a Hi-NRG beat like their lives depends on it, and joints included on this mix coming from leaders of the Nu-Skool Justice, Mr.Oizo, Surkin, Yuksek, Boys Noize, Siruismo & Kavinsky, to name just a few.

So don yer flares, yer glitzy sparkly number, your red leather jacket with monster shoulder pads, and your big big hair...we've got a hot one for ya and its here to rock your frilly pop socks................Ahhhhhhhh Freak Out!

And don't forget to vote for us in this year's DJ Magazine Top 100 Poll. We'd surely appreciate it, take it as a small token of support for all those lovely free mixes we keep giving you. Just go to http://top100djs.djmag.com/ and place your vote. Thanks a lot, see you on that flashing dancefloor yeah.

Woop! Woop! Hold tight at the back, scream if ya wanna go faster...Hey up, it's mid-july and about that time for another podcast, so as promised, we've just uploaded the 2nd installment of our "Nevermind The Balearics..." mix series. Its another mixed bag of anything-goes classic dancefloor moments from way back in the day through to a couple of current tunes (but its mostly old stuff - showing our age!). Includes disco licks from Blondie, Roxy Music and Human League, through hip hop joints from Masta Ace, Big Daddy Kane and Afrika Bambaata, Balearic & Italo house bangers from Jestofunk, Quartz and TC 1992, to some newer vibes from Ralph Myerz, Hard-Fi, and Dirty Minds...loads of special Streetlife re-edits as usual and a whole lot more (even the legend that is Mr Marvin Gaye gets in on the action...and why not eh!). The aim is to have the 3rd and final part of this mix series up before the end of summer (september'ish), although dont hold your breath cos we havent made it yet!

And for those that have been asking, the next Hot Mix 100 (part 8) is on the way and will be available for download soon...So the word on the street is: Stay Tuned Disco Kids!

Tata for now....

hey ya'll. its been  few weeks since our last post, so here's a quick run down of whats new on the street:

still busy on the remix front. have just completed our mix of star guitar by shinichi osawa. a cracking cover of the chems' classic by shinichi, who is totally on fire at the moment. (check out his rmxs of tmvr, the subs and the whip for proof!). star guitar will be out soon on data. we are also in the final throws of remixing cant stop moving by sonny j due on positiva. a very commercial record for us to take on, but its highly infectious & totally cool at the same time...we love it! as for the remix, expect something old skool & balearic (well it is the 20 year anniversary of acid house!). and next up we'll be remixing the new ladyhawke single for modular.

the new streetlife djs single is titled (yes, you guessed it!) we love the disco sound and will be out on kitsune late summer. there will soon be some rather funky t-shirts available from our home page bearing the full logo. this summers essential fashion accessory...i doubt it!

ltd edition remixes: two will also be available soon featuring our exclusive mixes of groove armada's get down and rockers revenge walking on sunshine. 500 copies only.

our new label street beats (london) is very close to launch. keep posted for info. the 1st release will be the keep it street ep.

so the word on the street it: turn it up & rip the knob off!

Now 'ere dis my selectaah...as I mentioned on wednesday, as far as we're concerned here at Streetlife HQ, summer is well & truly upon us...woohoo! And to celebrate the fact, we're putting up our very 1st Streetlife mix CD as a podcast. We made Nevermind The Balearics...over 4 years ago, and it still raises a smile whenever it comes on the iPod. It's not so much a club mix, more of a back-to-ours-for-a-jolly-old-knees-up house party mix, with over 40 of our favourite tunes from different genres & decades all thrown into the pot. DJ Alfredo was the main inspiration for doing it, I first saw him play at Amnesia back in 1988 (when there was no roof!), and the way he mixed up so many different styles of music has been a lasting memory that I will never forget...a true legend. From house indie & electro, to hip-hop techno & disco...its all in there.

"Probably the most listened to CD in the Mixmag office last year, amazing!" (Mixmag)

"A frantic 2manyDJs style mash-up of classic party tunes. It's eye-watering stuff and we love it!" (DJ Magazine)

"Freeked out party music put together with rampant professionalism!"
(I-DJ Magazine)

Nevermind The Balearics...part II will follow later in the summer...but for now, here's the original....enjoy the ride!

Hasta la vista....baby...

Am i kidding myself? More mud & rain is probably closer to reality. We dont seem to do very well for sunshine in this lovely country we call home, and the last few years of festival weather has been pretty catastrophic bar a couple of lucky weekends. But we are due a scorcher...BELIEVE..and it will happen people. Anyway, its May 1st today, so that means the official start to summer here at Streetlife HQ. I dont care what anyone else says, besides im pretty sure i saw the sun poke its head out the other day...although it wasnt smiling much.

So our summer schedule is shaping up nicely, and as far as festivals go, you'll be able to catch us at the following events listed below, including a welcomed return to our local Get Loaded festival on Clapham Common, where this year our London club residency "Together" will be hosting an arena. Paul Stix has put a cracking line up Together (scuse the pun), including The Gossip, Soulwax, and The Presets all live, supported by DJ sets from Mylo, Boys Noize and ourselves. Should be a blast.

24 May - Gatecrasher Summer Soundsystem (Cement Arena) - Turweston
13 June - NassFest (extreme sports & music festival) - Bath
15 June - Isle of White Festival (Strongbow Rooms) - Isle of White
05 July - Arvika Festival - Arvika Sweden
16 Aug - V Festival (Strongbow Rooms) - Chelmsford
17 Aug - V Festival (Strongbow Rooms) - Stafford
21 Aug - Leeds Festival (Duracell Stage) - Leeds
24 Aug - Get Loaded (Together Arena) - London

We'll also be back in Ibiza this year, after a really good gig for We Love Space  last July, where we made our debut on the Terrazza alongside Paul Woolford, James Zabiela & Smokin Jo. This year we've been invited back for 2 dates as follows:

22 June - We Love Space - Ibiza
14 Sept - We Love Space - Ibiza

At the moment its likely that these will be our only dates on the Island this year, but will let you know if anything else gets confirmed. Keep your eye on the homepage listings for updates.

So, depending on your preference, we'll either see you on the Space terrace or down the front of a muddy festival field here at Home...dont for get yer wellies!

Tata for now.

Hey, back once again like a renegade master....with another Streetlife update! Been quite alot of remix activity over recent months; Since mid last year we have completed mixes for CSS, Ash, Muse, Groove Armada, Future Loop Foundation, Liquid, TV Rocks, CLS and The Cazals. Most of these are still available from the usual outlets ie: Beatport, iTunes, DJDownload, Juno or your usual vinyl emporium (check down the left hand side of our home page, then click on the record/artwork to go direct to an online store).

More recently we have delivered mixes of Don Cash (for Headman's Relish label), Alan Braxe (for Kitsune/Vulture) and 2 mixes for Japan's Shinichi Osawa (forthcoming on Avex). Also, the mighty new single from Buy Now (Angello & Ingrosso) titled "Bodycrash" now signed onto Positiva and destined for chart success. Our mix has been very well received at club & radio and featured high up in the Beatport download chart. Import vinyl copies & downloads are available now.

Late last year we also noticed that UK label Southern Fried were re-releasing some old Norman Cook back catalogue from his early days under the name of Mighty Dub Katz. "Keep On Truckin" was a favourite of both of ours from around '93, so we put in a request to see if they were planning a re-release, and if so could we do a mix? Bobs yer uncle, Normans yer new best mate, would you believe it we got the go-ahead! However, the pressure was on, we knew we had to nail this one so we took our time, but it was worth it cos we're well pleased with the result (as is Mr Cook himself). Check it out on our myspace player right now. Forthcoming on Southern Fried soon.

And finally on the remix tip...When we were putting our Essential Mix together for Radio 1 just before Christmas, we wanted to feature a couple of exclusive tracks that only we had, so we decided to pick a track each and see what we could come up with. The result was our remixes Michael Jackson's "Wanna Be Startin' Something" and Queens of the Stone Age "Better Living Thru Chemistry". Both mixes have been heavily supported at club level with 2manyDJs, Erol Alkan, Boys Noize, Feadz, Headman and Tronik Youth all jumping on it, but also at radio with continued support on R1 from Zane Lowe & Annie Mac (total of 9 x R1 plays now!), plus our old mate Eddy TM at XFM too. We've received loads of requests for these 2 mixes, so we are pressing up 500 vinyl copies only and then the masters will be deleted. These will be available from next week titled "Ltd Edition Remixes:01" (the 1st in a series of collectable picture discs). Look out for Remixes:02 coming soon. All will be available direct from our home page, again check down the left hand side.

And finally (incase you didnt already know) Gunn Crime was released on monday through Kitsune records. We are currently working on a follow up single, more news on that soon...

So the word on the Street is: Don't touch that dial!

Stew Streetlife.

Allo allo, alright pop tarts, me again. (See I told you I'd seen the light but you wouldnt believe me!) Anyway, just a quick one to let you know that the latest Hotmix 100 podcast has been uploaded and is ready to rock your socks....

Part 7 is the usual mixed bag of anything goes, featuring plenty of exciting new electronic music from some of our current faves including Alex Metric (he's our mate he is), Alex Gopher, The Presets, Yuksek, Surkin and a welcomed return for UK acid house legend Mr Mark Moore (we salute you sir...about bloody time you showed your face again!). Stupid Girls comes out under his revamped S-Express guise (and thru no coincidense whatsoever, he also our label mate at Kitsune....Oooooh fancy pants).   And you know us, never shy of dipping into days gone by, there's a nod to the mid 90's with cuts from Sneak, Felix Da Housecat, Andrew Weatherall and Age of Love (Marc Spoon - RIP). And towards the end the curveballs swing even further with a blast of 80s disco past with Duran Duran and Tantra (remixed by a certain Patrick Cowley - he of Donna Summer - I Feel Love fame), rounding things off on a rather camp Studio 54 tip...and why not. Marc Bolan gets the final say. Enjoy the mix.

Friends, ravers, muso's, bloggers, cool cats & club kids....forgive me for I have sinned. It has been a hideously long time since I last wrote on these pages. I have been neglecting my blog duty, and I should be stoned at dawn (come to think of it I probably will be).

Anyway, no exuses, I'm banged to rights, guilty as charged, but I've seen the light, its all change from now on (yeah yeah course it is Stewpot). From this day forth I'll be keeping you regularly updated with whats goin' down on the Street, including our forthcoming releases & remixes, tour dates & gig schedule, press, interviews, gig footage, merchandising, ticket offers, podcasts, anything that might be of interest and float yer boat.

So, where to start? Well we've been pretty busy the last 6-12 months, and the production output has been crazy with loads of new tracks & remixes completed, but more on that later. I guess the big news is that we signed a record deal....woohoo!    And not with any old record label either, oh no, with our very nice and rather funky friends across the channel at Kitsune (Paris).   They liked the sound of our Gunn Crime record enough to make it our 1st single with them. Obviously we're delighted to be part of such a cool, credible & forward thinking label. Kitsune has released some of our favourite records in recent years and it feels good to be part of their family.

Gunn Crime (radio edit) is up on our player at the moment, there will be 4 different club mixes & the radio edit available. The release date is Monday 28th April, and will be available on 12" vinyl & digital download from all good record stores, some bad record stores, and also the usual MP3 outlets (iTunes, Beatport etc).

Right, I dont want to bore you already, seeing as we've only just re-kindled our relationship! So thats it for now, lots more coming later...The word on the Street is: Stay tuned!

Tata for now...
