A fab new review in the latest issue of Shindig Magazine from the UK. The one with the Pretty Things on the cover!!!!!!! (March-April 2009). The mag is now readily available all over the world including Australia. It's a great read for likeminded souls. THE GREEN CIRCLES Tavistock Street Off The Hip CD www.offthehip.com.au Two long-players and a UK comp down the road, these 21st Century mods from down under carry on dreaming “of circles in the air, and in their heart and everywhere”, as Plonk might have put it himself. At their best, The Green Circles would’ve been a perfect fit to Mojo’s recent Heavy Mod CD. Along with ‘I’m So Glad’ and ‘Kneejerk Reaction’ from the previous albums, it’s the ‘21st Century Blues’ that I’m keeping on my iPod. However, there are quite a few other reasons for you to take a long walk down Tavistock Street, starting with the heavy opening pair of riff-laden freakbeat stompers (‘Shaken And Stirred’, ‘Five Blue Moons’), which should appeal to fans of The (‘90s) Clique, The Prisoners or Jarvis Humby. ‘Time Stops Moving’ is a quirky little piece of Britpop, with traces of Tomorrow and Blossom Toes and, had The Byrds ever tried to give it a shot at being Monkees-type “rock ’n’ roll stars”, ‘Balloons’ would’ve been as close as they’d get. Don’t know if this’ll make your mind go round in circles, but it’s sure worth the spin.

Hello there Reviews are starting to come in for 'Tavistock Street' and I'm pleased to say that they have been very good indeed. The I94 Bar gives it 4.5 stubbies out of a possible 5 (sounds much better than 4.5 stars doesn't it??). Have a read here http://www.i94bar.com/reviews/greencircles.html One quote I like from the review is "...makes you think you're stumbling down Carnaby Street circa 1965 with a headful of bennies and a heartful of hope, but the songs are deft and dynamic enough to lift them well clear of accusations of mere revisionism. So if you liked the second Rhino "Nuggets" box set, you'll love this." And how can I fail to mention the Adelaide Muse. A mystery man on the scene who has some very nice things to say about the album here http://www.myspace.com/theadelaidemuseI also like the description of the CD at Redeye Records in Sydney " New 2008 album from Adelaide Mod-ernists! Sweet 60's sounds with a smart Antipodean crease in the trouser."If you haven't got it yet, these reviews should be just the push you need.love Sapphire - Green Circles' Appreciation Society President

The new Green Circles' album Tavistock Street will be launched at the Grace Emily Hotel in Adelaide this Friday night Tavistock Street in Adelaide no longer exists. Its people, houses, pub and shops gone in the 1960s in the name of progress. With a nod to the past and a kick at the future, garage/psychers the Green Circles have taken Tavistock Street as the name of their 3rd album and will be launching it with shows every Friday of November at the other end of town, at the Grace Emily Hotel. Official launch is November 7th with guests Molting Vultures, with other guests Black Seas from Melbourne on the 14th and The Crackling Static Fuzz on the 21st.
Featuring eleven diverse tracks, including Shaken and stirred which has already been at the top of Three D Radio's chart, live favourites 21st century blues and Drainpipe shuffle and their takes on the classic songs Sandra, originally by the Screaming Believers, and the Inside Looking Out's Long Live Sivinanda.
Released by the Melbourne based, internationally renowned label Off the Hip, home of the best in Australian garage, powerpop and rock 'n' roll.
