Current mood:  busy
The next Club Mondo takes place at Cabaret, Nottingham on May 18th - that's less than 6 weeks away boys and girls!!
We're still confirming the lineup, so if anyone wants to perform, get in touch ASAP - new posters and flyers will be printed next week.
So far confirmed are gloriously sexy gypsy punk exponents The Fighting Cocks (those of you who caught them supporting Gogol Bordello on tour a couple of months ago will know just how great they are!) and award winning striptease artiste/burlesque dancer The Painted Lady - alongside the return of Miss Rhapsody Angel and (we hope) the Deville Dolls. We're also planning a variety of DJ's plus the usual visual distractions - and yes, there WILL be a Best Dressed Prize this time! Watch this space for more additions.
We're also keen to track down variety acts for this one, but it might be a bridge too far. Volunteers/suggestions welcome!

We're all still recovering here at Striporama Towers, but Club Mondo on Thursday was a ripping success! After fretting that no-one would even give a damn, we were thrilled - and startled - when the floodgates opend as soon as doors opened. Seems folks had been lining down the street waiting to get in!
The performers all did us proud - seeing Miss Rhapsody Angel blow the audience away on her first time out, the Deville Dolls bring the house with THEIR first performance and Red Sarah kicking things off and offering a flaming finale with such skill was wonderful. Team Hughes and Old Basford rocked the house with excellent performances... and as for the crowd - what a stylish, sexy looking bunch you were! Photos coming soon!
This first night has helped us learn a lot - not knowing what to expect, we went with as wide a range of music as possible, and for future events we'll have a better idea of what works and what doesn't. Feedback would be welcome so that next time we can make it even better.
And guess what? There will be a next time!
Watch this space for announcements of the date, which we should have finalsied in the next few days. But now, I'm going to go back to sleep for a while... if you don't mind...

Whoo hoo, only a few days to go before I found out just how interested Nottingham (and surrounding locales) is in trying out something new and exciting.
So far, the response to Club Mondo has been good (if sometimes bewildered), but we at Striporama Towers have taken to sticking pins in our PayPal shaped voodoo doll after numerous screwups and problems. If we do this again, we'll figure out some more effective way of paying for tickets.
Tonight I've been checking out our movies with projection guru Scott and dicocering that much of my prized collection of Mistral/Astral sexy flicks from the 70's have bveen daaged- possibly beyond repair - by damp. Grr. Luckily, enough have survived, so get ready for a feast of Harrison Marks, Mayfair Films and other oddities.
Still oodles to do and slackers to pin down, but all is well so far. Time for panic later...

Bah - posters are delayed. Oh, the joy of printers. We should have em out and about on Friday though, and will be out and about flyering - look for us lurking in the Speakeasy on Thursday, maybe cheesing it up in the Social Friday and probably schmoozing at Gogol Bordello on Saturday. What a life we lead here at Striporama... Meanwhile been pondering adding more 'personal' stuff here - I'm far too disorganised to run separate 'business' and 'personal' MySpaces, so expect a few of the less incriminating pix, the odd rant (God, I miss those of-topic sessions of vitriol-spewing that Noise Culture afforded me) and random movie reviews (until I get the cult movie offshoot site up and running). Oh, and something of a site upgrade coming shortly too, so keep em peeled... and many thanks to those of you who have shown an interest in my stumbling MySpace presence and added me to friends lists...

So... here we go into the wonderful world of blogs. I'm not too sure what will appear here, how often or how much, but I'll try to keep y'all up to date on the progress of Club Mondo, site changes to Striporama and anything else which amuses or (more likely) annoys me. Not much to say right now, other than I'm working my way through this whole MySpace nonsense, and tickets/flyers/posters for Club Mondo will be blitzing Nottingham tomorrow. Look out for em, locals! And for those of you too lazy to go to the site for info... it's a Cabaret in the city centre on March 30th, 9pm - 2am - tickets are 6.00 in advance (you can buy them at Bodycraft, Units 4 & 5, Excise Chambers, Pelham St, Nottingham or from the site via PayPal) or 7.00 on the door. The VIP tables are all spoken for but you can reserve a standard table for 5 extra. We highly recommend doing that! The acts so far confirmed are Red Sarah, Miss Rhapsody Angel, Old Basford, Team Hughes, Rocco Stagliano and Dagbert Beaver - more to come soon we hope.
