guten tag!


 

so we have finally arrived in berlin...

 

got off the plane at the airport a few days ago, to be met by our new friends from motor music (www.motor.de). we were off to a brand new sleep-deprived start by walking straight out of the airport, leaving our bags on the carousel, and we were unable to get back to retrieve them. bugger. thankfully, and with some help from our new german speaking friends, we were able to get back in there to grab our bags... but not until we spent a long while in the freezing cold wondering if we would be deported or not.

 

after 27 hours on a plane and in transit I guess we just weren’t quite thinking straight?

 

anyway we’re here now and it is indeed a beautiful city. finding the weather coming from the east to be rather nippy and our Australian cold-weather wear a little insufficient, but this place is more than enough to compensate. went to see a local band on our first night called super 700. really cool band, apparently they are making some moves in australia as well. if only we weren't so dazed and confused i could give you a really accurate run down of the gig!!

 

we were also lucky enough to head to a hives show over the weekend - it was smashing good fun. and mirra crowd surfed, which is no mean feat for a man (boy?) two metres tall.

 

so anyway, our real reason for writing... we’ve set up a brand new blog. check it out at ichbineineduke.wordpress.com. we’ll be updating this regularly with news about our travels in germany and europe, and plenty of photos. we’ve put up a couple already – some jetlagged dukes, and some early photos from berlin so far.

we're going away...

hey there good friends how y'all doing??




so i've just put up some snaps from our recent recording session on facebook... Love Is The Drug... the track is also up on Facebook, Myspace, all that stuff... here is one snap from the recording session for your pleasure. :)




currently in the studio recording a brand new track. can't wait to get it out there. hoping that we can give you all a sneak peek soon. we'll also have some snaps from the session up in the next day or two!




ok ok ok and so we're doing one gig very soon. the evelyn hotel, friday november 13. it'll be our last melbourne show for a long time, as we're heading overseas shortly afterwards. we're moving to berlin, germany, for the next year or so to release our album, tour our asses off, and record our next album (assuming everything goes to plan...).




so make it down to the evelyn on friday november 13 to catch the last aussie DOW show for potentially a year!

a quick note about the last dukes show in australia for a long while

Hey!

 

Our cover version of 'Love Is The Drug' is up now...

 

Such an awesome song. I'm really not sure what we could have done in order to improve it, let alone equal it. Have you heard the Grace Jones version? That one's pretty rad too. So you can see what we're up against here. Have a listen and let us know what you think! We've tried to make it our own, without completely destroying it... a fine line, indeed. hmmm

 

We recorded it with Mark Opitz here in Melbourne. He is a super super fella who has produced a whole bunch of great stuff (INXS, Kiss, and heaps more). Colin Wynne engineered, our good friend Hadyn Buxton mixed it with his bro Richie, and we added a little bit of our own production from our home studio.

 

So anyway i've uploaded it onto our MySpace, Facebook, blah blah. Check it out! Hope you enjoy!

 

We're heading overseas later this year to Europe, so we hope to see any of you lot in Australia before we go... and those in Europe, we'll see you soon!

just a quick note to say thanks to everyone who made it out to see a trilogy show in the past six weeks. we really appreciate it and hope you had fun.

 

the tour was pretty extensive and we are all in dire need of rest. but we are lucky enough to have had the chance to see some places we would never normally make it to, and some places that we might not get a chance to go back to in the near future. so it was great to see a whole bunch of the country and play to plenty of people in all those hard to reach places.

 

also, word up to trial kennedy and midnight youth, both great bands and a lot of fun to tour with. i'm sure we'll be hearing plenty more from those guys in the future.

 

it seems that we are heading overseas, to berlin, germany, later this year. we'll be releasing our album over there and doing a whole bunch of touring. so we may not get the chance to hit the road here in australia for a little while. that being the case, we'll be back soon no doubt, and with a new album, so hold tight! :)

end of trilogy tour, many thanks for making it along!

our trilogy tour has finished, many thanks for making it along (if you did)!

 

dear kind friends,

 

smashing WA now. 

 

played bunbury on wednesday night. that was a pleasure and a joy. witnessed one fight during the TK set. perhaps because of the cover version of 'The Others' that they did?

 

but it truly was an enjoyable time had by all. the bunbury lads do bring it indeedy . 

 

after an 8 hour drive the following day (!) we arrived in geraldton. apprehensive at first, we later found that the local folk really do know how to have a good time. no fights this time, but a huge amount of alcohol consumption and naturally a rather boisterous crowd. thanks to the fellows from Midnight Youth and Trial Kennedy for keeping things interesting by invading the stage later on in our set. well done well done

right now, we've finally arrived back in perth. the drive back down here is actually quite beautiful. we all love undulating dunes and harsh ridges, and the highway heading back down south offers plenty of that. much damper, and far less desert-ish, than expected. 

 

playing amplifier tonight and heading to fremantle tomorrow to play the newport (and eat at the little creatures brewery). does it offend you, yeah! are soundchecking next door. so either next door in the capitol or right here at amplifier a good time will be had by all.

 

then that's it... tour over. what do we do after that? i'm genuinely not certain i will be able to re-enter society as normal.
