The bailout didn't do a damned thing, except further devalue the dollar.  Did you hear they ran out of digits on the debt clock?  The average household share of federal debt is at $86,000.

Think you can pay that back in addition to funding current government programs and services?
Didn't think so.
America is completely bankrupt, and we are headed for a nasty fall.

Both Barack Obama and John McCain pushed for the bailout, and forced you to cough up $5000 of your hard earned money.
They, along with the financial industry, lobbied hard to win votes in the House of Representatives.
Not a single traitor who voted for the bailout deserves to be elected.
Today, Ralph Nader claimed that we are back to 1775, living again in a country of taxation without representation.  We live under corporate rule.  Not the Constitution.  Not We the People.  The United States of America is DONE, FINISHED if we allow our federal government to steal from us like this unpunished.
We must not vote for anybody who voted for the Bailout, especially McCain and Obama.  If they get away with this, they will try to get away with much more.  This is JUST THE BEGINNING.

It cleared the Senate, after they poured some sugar on this big pile of manure.  The media is going into overdrive to mislead the public on how needed this bailout is, and how foolish the American public is for not supporting it.  Bullshit!  Most everybody is clearly aware that this is about bailing out the fat cats on Wall Street.

It is up to us to flood our Representatives with phone messages.  Emails won't be read in time, nor are they given the same weight since it is easy to reproduce multiple emails.  We need to let them know TODAY.  The phone numbers are here:

http://www.congress.org/congressorg/home/

Simply call your representative and tell them you'd like to leave a comment.  Tell them you are opposed to the bailout, and that you will not your representative if they vote for the bailout.  That's all you need to say.  All it takes is for a few hundred people to call one office to really scare the bejeebers out of them. The House of Representatives was designed to respond to the will of the people, and they are our last hope of stopping this bailout from passing.
However, the mainstream media has been working overtime to push this bailout on the American people, slanting the whole thing as a bunch of uneducated and fearful Americans not understanding how good this is for them.  They're hoping to weaken your resolve and anger at being ripped off.
It takes two minutes of your time to make the phone call.  If you do nothing, you can plan on the value of your dollar plummeting even further, and losing at least $5000 to Wall Street.  And once corporations realize they can loot the Treasury with wild abandon, the corporate criminals will line up for bailouts.
This will be just the beginning.
Please, for the love of America, call your Congressman today and stop the bailout!

They are voting tonight!!  Call them and tell them you are opposed to the bailout.  It doesn't matter how much sugar lawmakers pour into that pile of manure!  The media is painting this vote as inevitable.  They are relying on a lack of resolve on the part of the people.  If everybody calls and jams up their voicemail, it WILL make them think twice.

Keep up the pressure.  If your representative voted against the bailout, call them up and thank them for siding with the American taxpayer.  If they voted for the bailout, call them up and let them know the American people have spoken, and that if they continue to support this giant monstrosity against our will that you will will actively volunteer in the campaign for whoever is running against them in the next election.
These Congressmen are used to people being passive and only receiving phonecalls from a handful of the same politically active people.  But this bailout is such an open act of contempt toward the average middle class American that it has pushed many otherwise politically passive people to call or write in protest.  Bush and the financial morons who created this mess have finally gone too far.  The power brokers in all this and the mainstream media is almost speechless at the herd of usually docile sheep which has turned around and stampeded the sheepdogs.
Both Obama and McCain are for the bailout.
But WE the PEOPLE are NOT!
Call your representatives today and put their jobs on the line.
This is still OUR country!

The people have spoken!!!

The bailout was shot down by 13 votes.  The mainstream media tried to pass it off as inevitable and not worth fighting against.  They failed.  The efforts of everybody who called or wrote their Congressmen to complain paid off.  We stopped the bailout today.  But just barely.
We need to continue to force pressure on our elected officials to reject corporate welfare for Wall Street.
Wall Street NEEDS a big correction.  Let the financial gambling junkies lose their pants, and maybe then they'll act more responsibly next time.
The media is trying to paint this vote as some fluke or bizarre tragedy instead of the the resounding will of the American public.  Nearly all polls show the vast majority of Americans opposed to the bailouts.
Few media reports are also stressing the positive effects of this vote.  There was a rally on the value of the dollar, and the price of oil dropped $10 a barrel in one day.
Let Wall Street crumble to the ground and expose our big charade once and for all.  America is broke.  In this global economy, nearly all countries bear part of our debt, in loans to us, or through holding ever-devaluing dollars in their treasuries.  We keep borrowing and pretending, and the stack of cards gets ever higher.  Let the house of cards fall now, so we can start building from the ground up again:  Production and export of goods, competitive innovation driven by free market capitalism, saving money, and living within our means-these are the values that elevated the United States to economic dominance in the world.  Not access to cheap credit, flipping houses, and expanding government and military operations by borrowing money from China.
The game of playing leapfrog from one bubble to the next, and riding on a wave of inflation and deficit spending must stop.
And today was a good start.

These people:

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601109&sid=aGL5l6xOPEHc&refer=home

Forget about CEOs.  Look at the average for ALL employees.  $353,000 a year!  They made that money creating this mess!

Don't believe the Administration's lies that this is about rescuing homeowners and is necessary for the health of the economy.  The American economy will collapse with or without this bailout.   The difference is YOU will be stuck with an extra $5000 tab from the passage of this bill, and YOU will bear the burden of inflation as this bailout continues to destroy the value of the dollar.  We don't have 700 billion dollars to spend.  They're going to print it out of thin air, which will dilute the value of the dollar and accelerate the rate of inflation.
Does it bother you how the price of everything is going up?  Too bad.  If you don't fight to stop this bailout, you can look forward to your paycheck buying less and less each month as prices on everything continues to go up.
These bankrupt and corrupt firms have passed their most toxic garbage over to the US Government.  No bank would have purchased these, but our government is planning on it...with YOUR money.  Every dollar of this bailout is going to protect Wall Street employees who make hundreds of thousands of dollars more than the median income in the US.   This is corporate welfare, clear and simple- an extra tax burden already passed on to a struggling middle class fighting hard against inflated prices and their own personal debt.
If this was actually going to stop the collapse of the American economy, it might be worth it.  But this will do nothing.  This bailout is not addressing any of the problems that created this mess in the first place, namely that our economy is based on consumption and artificial wealth generated through boom/bust cycles of gambling and paper pushing.  In fact, this bailout simply enables the gamblers to find a new game.  Regulation will not stop these folks.  They will find the loopholes and if they can't find them, they'll make them by using our tax dollars to buy off politicians.  These people need to fail and lose all their money, because that is the only thing that will stop them!
There is still time to put a halt to this.  The vote should be very close.  Call your Congressmen and tell them you will vote them out of office if they support the bailout.  Don't believe the Administration.  Don't be lured by their little CEO pay caps and other things they're sticking in the bill.  This is a LEMON.  You will pay dearly for this and get NOTHING in return.  You may as well write a check for $5000 of your hard-earned money and send it to people in these financial firms so they can take it to the Casino we call Wall Street and gamble it away.

Dear Friends,

Whenever a Great Bipartisan Consensus is announced, and a compliant media assures everyone that the wondrous actions of our wise leaders are being taken for our own good, you can know with absolute certainty that disaster is about to strike.

The events of the past week are no exception.

The bailout package that is about to be rammed down Congress' throat is not just economically foolish.  It is downright sinister.  It makes a mockery of our Constitution, which our leaders should never again bother pretending is still in effect.  It promises the American people a never-ending nightmare of ever-greater debt liabilities they will have to shoulder.  Two weeks ago, financial analyst Jim Rogers said the bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac made America more communist than China!  "This is welfare for the rich," he said. "This is socialism for the rich. It's bailing out the financiers, the banks, the Wall Streeters."

That describes the current bailout package to a T.  And we're being told it's unavoidable.

The claim that the market caused all this is so staggeringly foolish that only politicians and the media could pretend to believe it.  But that has become the conventional wisdom, with the desired result that those responsible for the credit bubble and its predictable consequences - predictable, that is, to those who understand sound, Austrian economics - are being let off the hook.  The Federal Reserve System is actually positioning itself as the savior, rather than the culprit, in this mess!

•    The Treasury Secretary is authorized to purchase up to $700 billion in mortgage-related assets at any one time.  That means $700 billion is only the very beginning of what will hit us.

•    Financial institutions are "designated as financial agents of the Government."  This is the New Deal to end all New Deals.

•    Then there's this: "Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency."  Translation: the Secretary can buy up whatever junk debt he wants to, burden the American people with it, and be subject to no one in the process.

There goes your country.

Even some so-called free-market economists are calling all this "sadly necessary."  Sad, yes.  Necessary?  Don't make me laugh.

Our one-party system is complicit in yet another crime against the American people.  The two major party candidates for president themselves initially indicated their strong support for bailouts of this kind - another example of the big choice we're supposedly presented with this November: yes or yes.  Now, with a backlash brewing, they're not quite sure what their views are.  A sad display, really.

Although the present bailout package is almost certainly not the end of the political atrocities we'll witness in connection with the crisis, time is short.  Congress may vote as soon as tomorrow.  With a Rasmussen poll finding support for the bailout at an anemic seven percent, some members of Congress are afraid to vote for it.  Call them!  Let them hear from you!  Tell them you will never vote for anyone who supports this atrocity.

The issue boils down to this: do we care about freedom?  Do we care about responsibility and accountability?  Do we care that our government and media have been bought and paid for?  Do we care that average Americans are about to be looted in order to subsidize the fattest of cats on Wall Street and in government?  Do we care?

When the chips are down, will we stand up and fight, even if it means standing up against every stripe of fashionable opinion in politics and the media?

Times like these have a way of telling us what kind of a people we are, and what kind of country we shall be.

In liberty,

Ron Paul
