Salutations, friends.
Much to be excited about today in the world of Maestro Echoplex. I'll try to keep this brief.
The always too-hard-to-track-down Maestro Echoplex EP from 2001,
Last Night I Saw God on the Dance Floor, just got a little easier to find. The fine folks at
Catbird Records have stepped up to offer a limited edition re-release of the album complete with new, beautiful letterpress packaging (courtesy Starshaped Press). The first 100 people to buy it will also get a bonus 4-song mini-cd of unreleased Maestro material. Specifically, it's Maestro Echoplex's contribution to the elusive
Songs About Planes album--a three-way split concept album of songs about Amelia Earhart, with four songs contributed from Maestro, Ulf Magnet (John Berry (Maestro Echoplex, John Guilt) & TJ Lipple (Maestro Echoplex, John Guilt, Aloha)), and John Lindenbaum (Rust Belt Music,
The Lonelyhearts). It's a damned good album, but never saw the light of day. Act quick and you can at least hear the four Maestro songs!
You can purchase the album for $8 direct from Catbird Records here:
www.catbirdrecords.com/cbr_006.shtml. Buy one, buy two, buy ten! Tell your mother, tell your father, tell a friend! Send a note, by pencil or by pen! By pigeon or by hen! Ok, that's enough, you get the idea. If you've ever downloaded Maestro mp3s and thought,
damn, this is some wicked good shit, well now is your chance to buy a copy and to help me to continue to record music!
Come celebrate with us, won't you? Maestro Echoplex & Katie Mullins will be performing a very, very rare show at
Pete's Candy Store (Brooklyn NY) on Sunday July 16th. We'll be playing some old Maestro songs from the
Last Night... EP, as well as some new ones, some of Katie's terrific songs, and maybe a cover or two if you're well behaved. (I'm sure you will be.) We're opening for the amazingly talented Paul Hogan (not
that Paul Hogan), of
Frances. The show is FREE, and we're on early at 8pm, so you have exactly zero reasons not to come.
I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that my latest project,
Fulton Lights, is getting ready to emerge from the womb. There's a show for that project coming up in a few weekends, and an album that will hopefully see the light of day sooner rather than later. Check out the myspace page for details!
So. In a nutshell: 1)Maestro Echoplex album limited edition re-release, go buy one! 2)Maestro Echoplex & Katie Mullins @ Pete's Candy Store on Sunday July 16th! 3)Fulton Lights!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your continued support. You have no idea how much it means to me.
One Love,
Maestro Echoplex
