So this past weekend, very early in the night, the Portland Police did a walk through at After Dark. Six cops. All in uniform.
When they walked into the men's room some poor soul (and someone unknown to the After Dark staff) was caught with a bill in his nose and a pile of powder on the counter (!). Needless to say he was immediately arrested and hauled out of the club.
Should security have prevented this? Yes.
It is all a moot point, however, as I look for a new home for After Dark.
I have some opportunities that I am looking into, but I do not know if we will find a home by this weekend.
Stay tuned to this space and I will let you all know as soon as After Dark has found a new home.
This should be a lesson to everyone to play and party safely out in the world.
Thanks you for your support and I will keep you posted.
It is too bad, 'cause we had a really good crowd this past Saturday.
Never a dull moment.

Things are looking up.
I met with the owner of the Ohm yesterday and we hashed out a new plan for After Dark at the Ohm.
Long story short, here it is:
FRIDAYS
After Dark will run 9pm til 7am on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month (Jet Set is 1st and 3rd).
We will definitely book out of town headliners on these nights.
We will have a band play early from 9pm - 11:30pm like they used to when I went to Ohm every weekend back in the day.
1st and 3rd Fridays, After Dark will run late night after Jet Set from 2:30am - 7am. Dance to the best House music while you sober up for the long drive/max ride home.
SATURDAYS
After Dark will run 2:30am - 10am EVERY Saturday. Although there will be no bar time early, Dave has assured me that we will start serving again at 7am.
Occasionally we will feature headliners on this night – Jake Childs on March 15th for example, but mostly we will feature the best local DJs playing the dirty side of Tech-House.
-(o)-(o)-(o)-
So this is how we make silver lining lemonade in P-Town.
After Dark will still be a 21+ event and whenever possible we will limit the cover to $5.
What do you think?
Comment away and thank you all for your kind words, suggestions, and support.
Peace,
Matt e

Current mood: disappointed
After one week at the Ohm it is painfully clear that I need to find a new place to hold After Dark. They are starting us at 2:30 and ending us at 7:30 with NO BAR time whatsoever.
Given this, I have had to postpone most of March's headliners at After Dark. Everyone will have to enjoy the best local DJs we have to offer – thank goodness we have a lot of them!
If anyone has any contacts with clubs in Portland who will let us start at a normal time and go through dawn, please let me know. Even though booze is apparently not an option at Ohm, I hope people keep showing their support for the night. Just know that I am working on moving the night to a proper spot as soon as possible.
February headliners will play 3:30 til 6. All March headliners have been postponed except for Jake Childs who doesn't visit from South Africa very often (I am willing to take the hit on this one).
I have been promised by the owners at Ohm that our Anniversary show with Fred Everything will start at 9pm and go super late.
I am truly disappointed that we were never given the chance to shine at Ohm. This should have been a good thing for our electronic music community.
I don't know who to trust any more. So sad.
