We're asking that folks repost this as far and wide as possible. Facebook and Myspace links, Tweets, other forums, etc. We've got big plans for this year, so we need to make a big push!

Here's the html link we'd like folks to tweet and status-update about:
http://knowmore.org/wiki/index.php?title=Fundraiser

And here's the text of the message:

To the Knowmore Community;

It's hard not to say 'We Told You So,' isn't it?

If you're receiving this letter, it means you've been supporting Knowmore.org and our mission of corporate reform for some time now, and have probably found yourself thinking those four words at least a few times in the past year. So, before we get to the purpose of this appeal, let's take a moment to restate who we are by addressing the most popular fiction of the recent global financial meltdown.

"No one could have seen this coming."

Since 2005, Knowmore.org and its supporters have been pointing out the failures and dangers of unchecked corporate power.

* Before companies like Citigroup, Inc., AIG, Bear Stearns, and GM 'became toxic', we were shouting from the rooftop about their fundamental instability, unethical policies, and exploitative and predatory practices.

* Before the bail outs--and before insurance companies and pharmaceuticals began the fight against the current push for health care reform--Knowmore.org was sounding the alarm about corporate control of the political process.

* Before the collapse of the US job market and soaring unemployment, Knowmore.org was maintaining that the reckless 'race to the bottom' of companies like Wal-Mart and Target would decimate America's manufacturing base and local businesses.

Unfortunately, there's no satisfaction in being vindicated by disaster. As millions of people lose their livelihood, health, security, and often their basic human rights, there's no time for "I told you so."

Instead, Knowmore.org has taken the current economic crisis as a powerful reaffirmation of our goals, and an elevation of the threat level; It has never been more important that there be a strong voice against corporate control, and a citizen and consumer driven source of information like Knowmore.org.

We are writing this letter to ask that you support the outlet that saw it coming, and didn't shy away from its responsibility to tell you so.

Knowmore.org's database has reached an incredible size in the past two years, and we're proud to finally announce that we are within inches of our longtime goal: a Knowmore.org entry for each of the Global Fortune 500. The information entered into the database by our interns and volunteers is currently in the process of being verified and formatted by the system administrators. We're now maintaining entries for more than 700 companies, and tens of thousands of consumer brands and subsidiaries.

We're equally excited by the success of our Firefox extension, which is now being used by more than 3,000 users.

The funds now being raised will go toward the development of mobile applications in 2010. Now that the database is substantial, our goal is to get our crucial information into the hands of consumers at the point of sale. Imagine grocery shopping with a Knowmore app by your side, or eventually being able to scan a barcode and get a Knowmore rating.

Also planned for this year are the development of street team packs, curriculum and packages for teachers who want to bring Knowmore into the classroom, and the hiring of a publicity firm to increase visibility. With the Fortune 500 project complete, we feel confident that the site will soon be ready for its most massive publicity push ever.

We realize pockets are tight, and we're feeling the pinch as well. Please consider giving whatever you can. If you're too strapped to donate, or if you want to help further, consider editing some Knowmore entries, or signing up for the street team. Send emails to Bernard@Knowmore.org for inquiries as to how you can help.

We're setting the goal high this year. We'll be requiring hundreds of hours from our developers and administrators, and we'll need some capital to put these ideas into motion.

We've raised or received commitments for $1500 to date. Can you help us raise the rest?

Please pass this on, and consider donating in someone's name as a gift during the holiday season.

Best wishes to all of us in the year ahead

Stay on the battlefield,

B. Dolan & The Knowmore Staff

Happy 9/11 kids. First lyrics we're posting up from the "Fallen House, Sunken City" album, which is now in the final mixing stages and slated for an early 2010 release.

LEAVING NEW YORK
(b. dolan)

6:05, Brooklyn Bridge:
failed and tongue-tied
body aching
hands shaking
bloody inside
still alive.
Sunrise like a pillar of fire,
still running like the static on a blank channel
sunken to the bottom of the barrel of a gun.
braced against the railing
looking straight into the sun
like I was waiting for someone
to burn a picture in my mind...
like i could recite scripture off the lids of my eyes...
fishing in the East River for a reason to die
voices whispered in my mind,
I believe they were mine.
another pilgrim come to find
that the Bridge is a lie, and
there's nothing on the other side...

I was told to pick my battles.
This isn't my war.
My fight is with myself.
I'm leaving New York
(x2)

Leaving my prayer rug in the apartment off Van Cortlandt
caught in constant paranoia coughing someone's jagged hallelujah
buildings like a burning cross,
withdrawal,
the drive north,
all five burroughs fall,
lizards listen through the walls,
born into this funeral,
news of war from city hall.
subway station, FDR,
tanks and guards, riot squad
movement of the violent mob
I dissolve
fall apart
dusted in the dark,
watching the war start...

They're gonna send us to the deserts of Mars,
where we'll die or go crazy with our legs blown off
don't want to suffocate in space
while God and the State face off
flags waving in the grey dawn,
better to break north.

I was told to pick my battles.
This isn't my war.
My fight is with myself.
I'm leaving New York
(x2)

I never found solid ground
but slept in a burning bed
there's a couple landlords
with a bounty on my head
never learned to bend my neck
or to worship the dead.
metro card expired; hop a turnstile and then jet!
was I a coward to abandon,
the broken down mechanics
that crowned Biggie Smalls as the King of Atlantis?
"Like trees to branches, cliffs to avalanches"
the sea in which she vanished...
Lost Kingdom of Jay-Z and Def Jam Cannibals
beating a dead break on the decks of the Titanic
I am it but I can't fit.
so when the sky fell
I felt like one of the guilty
with the populace in lockstep,
ready to come and kill me.
Did Providence demolish the buildings
that rust and rot beneath the Hudson?
all of it came to nothing
and the devil's still running...

and the devil's still running...

I was told to pick my battles.
This isn't my war.
My fight is with myself.
I'm leaving...

Happy Thursday, Internets!

Just for making it past the halfway point this week, we're giving you an lp's worth of exclusive B. Dolan songs, mixed and re-mixed by our very own Buddy Peace. The album is avaliable right now as a free download via Urb.com, and will be avaliable for purchase from the SFR store shortly. So don't say we never gave ya nuttin, ok?

LINK: http://www.urb.com/permalink/6658/B.-Dolan---House-of-Bees-Vol.-1-%28Exclusive-Download%29.html

"House of Bees Vol. 1" is the latest from B. Dolan of Strange Famous Records; a 50 minute compilation of unreleased songs, collaborations and remixes assembled by label-mate and UK producer Buddy Peace. This mix will be offered to the public both as a free download and as a limited run of signed, purchasable hard copies, available this August from Strange Famous online store (www.strangefamous.com).

Dolan's writing and delivery here is by turns venomous and vulnerable, playful and possessed, and Buddy Peace has got the range and depth of production to match his lyricist's every whim. A number of producers and emcees show up for cameos, including Jackson of Grand Buffet, Curtis Plum, Prolyphic, Alias, Aupheus, and Strange Famous label boss Sage Francis, who lends verses to a number of these songs.

B. Dolan is currently touring the U.S. with the Rock the Bells tour, and is set to release Fallen House, Sunken City, an album produced entirely by legendary beatsmith Alias, on Strange Famous Records this winter. Buddy Peace will be releasing a new LP, Late Model Sedan, digitally via Strange Famous Records on August 18.

If you submitted a remix and it is not included in the ones we've decided to include in the finals please don't despair. We received over 100 remixes for this contest and it was difficult choosing which ones would make it into the final round.

We were going to include "honorable mention" remixes in the list, but to be honest there were way more good remixes than were bad ones. If you're remix didn't make it into the finals it is possible you got screwed over by our style preference. Or maybe you submitted a remix that sounded like another remix that was already included in the finals. Other than that, there are a few reasons why certain remixes didn't make it into the finals.

Some were just too simple or repetitive. Some had bad sound quality. A few were off beat or off time. Some has amazing vocal manipulations but the beat left a lot to be desired. Some were soothing but too sleepy. Some were gritty and grimy to the point where all charm was stripped from the song. Some were much too sparse. Some people didn't send MP3s. Some didn't send their remix to the correct email address. And on and on and on. If you feel like we screwed you over, feel free to post your remix after the winner is decided. We really appreciate you taking the time to remix a song of ours and we apologize for not being able to give everyone the shine they deserve.

Click the remix article on the front page of www.StrangeFamous.com to check out the first wave of top contenders.

These are not all the remixes, nor are they all the BEST remixes. This is just a taste before we do a full blast in a few days.

The remixes we received over this past week are some of my favorite. People are coming with some grimy shit. Some beautiful stuff too. Each remix contest gets better results than the one before it. Love this shit.

Weigh in on your favorites!
