Current mood:  full
We went down the coast hitting Portland, LA and San Diego, over to Mexicali in Mexico, up through Phoenix, Albuquerque, Tulsa and Saint Louis, up to Chicago, over to Boston, Philadelphia and New York, back to Pittsburgh, Chicago and Minneapolis then for a long ass haul across North Dakota and Montana to Missoula and Spokane and finishing the sucker off in Stanwood WA. We had an excellent time, played with some kickass bands and hung out with some truly great people. Portland, Wednesday, March 30th - received with one heck of a welcome by Bunty of the Muddy River Nightmare Band as per usual, played at Porky's, a small handful of people there, but that's what you get on a weekday in Portland apparently. We'll hafta play on a weekend there again real soon. We ate/drank jello shooters - I've never had 'em before. Got some kickass Mexican food after the show. Can't remember what Reggie dressed up as, it was so long ago now, and there've been so many outfits. J and K of MRNB are opening a music store in Portland so we went there and stocked up on shit we needed then hit the mutherluvin' road. We didn't know if we had a show in San Francisco yet, we were still in communication with a guy who was helping us out, we found out that we did indeed have a show at Kimo's as we were heading that way and didn't have much time to get there so we started reeely hauling ass. As we were almost there we found out the local bands didn't bother showing up so the show was cancelled. This has happened to us before as well. Fucking local bands only have a few blocks to travel we have hundreds of miles, we make it, they don't, fucking trifling triflers. These idiots have noooo idea what it's about. We've got this roof rack thing that we were keeping a whole bunch of stuff in - drums and whatnot, it has this broken latch on one side and we were getting pretty used to people pulling up beside us on the freeway and letting us know that it was a little bit open. As we were crossing the Bay Bridge the frequency of people letting us know was increasing. We would just smile and wave them on "we know, thanks, we know" and we were all "my aren't folks helpful in San Francisco, what a great place" We had made plans to meet up with our friend Guenevere and as we parked the car we noticed that the thing was like all the way open, miraculously all we lost was one of Reggie's kneepads and theBertman's thermarest (he took this as a sign that God didn't intend for him to sleep comfortably for the entire tour) We hooked up with our friend Guenevere and went drinking. We gave some crazy street folks a beer to watch our car and they were awfully enthusiastic, got all their neighbors in on it. We went to Guenevere's in Oakland and stayed up til 4 making buttons (8 of them, we're useless) and organizing our t-shirts. Left for LA real early, wanted to beat rush hour, and did a pretty good job of it. Went to Motorama's ex drummer Denise's (a german scientist, she got her PHD and moved away to LA) She fed us then we headed off to the Anarchy Library. Our friend Kevin who useta book the place got himself a wife and a kid and no longer books it so we ended up having to play like first on a 6 band bill, played to a handful of people and it really started getting packed after like 3 all girl bands, we weren't into it too much so we left early and drank ourselves to sleep. Woke up fairly early, got some breakfast at our favorite Huevos Rancheros place, went shopping - Reggie bought this tiny little lime green dress. Said our goodbyes to Denise, complete with crying and hugging, and then headed off to San Diego. San Diego was super fun, our third time back and we received a heck of a warm welcome, some folks we met in LA in August of 200, Joe and Corey, made the drive down to see us and dance around like damn fools as we played, which was super cool. Paloma from Erotomania had us back at her place after the show where there were 3 kegs and pasta waiting for us, plus a buncha revved up kids, we were up until the sun came up. We had this one legged, lesbian, hardcore punk rocker to help us with that thank god. She was all leather and studs and facial piercings and tattoos and whatnot, we didn't get a picture, but she was wac-key Once we woke up, shook out the cobwebs and licked our wounds for a bit we headed off to Mexico. We didn't want to take our gear into Mexico so we stored it just north of the border in CA, our plan was to leave it in a storage locker but there was nothing open on a Sunday so we found a chee-eep motel and left it in a room they were remodeling, it was sketchy but the only option was to NOT go to Mexico and that's what we were there to do, so we crossed our fingers and nailed the door shut. Luis and his friends treated us like Kings while we were in Mexico, they got us gear to use while were there, drove us around, took us to restaurants, Luis' mom made us some super yummy food. I think I may have picked up a bit of Spanish. Reg and I are planning on taking a conversational Spanish course for next time, everyone that we were hanging out with knew a little English but it'd be really cool to talk to our Mexican brothers in their own language. Alex from Mannequin Lazer took us to a Mexican Radio Station where they conducted a bit of an on air interview and played a few songs from our CD - we're all super chuffed to be on Mexican Radio like in the Wall of Voodoo song. Alex had us play in the living room of his huge old Mexican Mansion, his parents were home but they didn't even know there was a show going on 'cause they were in a different wing. We had a real good time in Phoenix, stayed at our good friend Candy's house, we were up pretty late drinking beer and shooting the shit. Reg needed to publish a document for work so he stayed up all night and worked on that. In the AM we grabbed some burritos, went to Kinko's and got our oil changed, then headed off to Albuquerque. Took us about 7 hours to get to Albuquerque and after we played we didn't feel like sticking around so we headed for Tulsa at 2am, stopped in Amarillo Texas for breakfast and reached Tulsa at about 3pm. Everyone always says Texas is a big state but it only took us like an hour and a half to cross it, I don't know what the heck those idiots are thinking - big state - pshaw. We went to a YMCA in tulsa and had saunas and sat in the hot tub, Reggie got thrown out of the lobby because he had on this hat that says "Miss Bitch" Timmy in Tulsa bought us groceries and we had a burrito feast back at his place, then headed to the $100 Taco to play our show. Despite the sauna and whatnot we were really worn out shells of men at this point so we were getting a little short tempered and snippy with each other which we all knew was to be expected, there was a little bickering but no fist fights. The kids in Tulsa are rad and we played exceptionally well, which really helped invigorate us and forget our petty differences. One kid Zac (who for now on will be referred to as "head wound") put a nice sized gash in his head from falling head first into a monitor but continued to jump around and whatnot, his face and GG Allin shirt were covered in blood - we got a pretty good photo, and played GG's Bite it you Scum in his honor (well we were gonna play it anyway, but we probably played it way better after seeing that) Our transmission stopped working for us when we were about 80 miles east of Saint Louis. We got the van towed to the Way Out Club and then got it towed to a transmission shop the next morning. We rented a van for our dates in Chicago, Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. We certainly got our money's worth out of that sucker. The transmission ended up being alot cheaper than one would have been in Vancouver so it worked out very well, even with the towing and van rental it still didn't cost as much as if we'd had the work done in Vancouver. We went and hung out with the guys who run the tattoo shop next to the Way Out where we drank beer and shot the shit until it was time to load in. We played a kickass show, everyone was blown away, I don't remember what Reggie wore, I'm sure it was pretty good. We met this guy Beatle Bob who promised us we could play live on his radio show next time we were in Saint Louis, turns out he was a Pathological Liar/kleptomaniac that no one in Saint Louis even allows in their establishment. As we were hanging out in the alley with our broken assed van this tiny little lady with about 17 kids walked by and we struck up a bit of a conversation with her, turns out she was a grandma with 14 grandchildren. We invited her to our show - put her on the guest list, she actually showed up but the guy at the door wouldn't let her in 'cause she had no ID. She was not happy. She was all hollering about how she was a grandma with 14 grandchildren and all that. Our friend Casey who booked the show in Saint Louis was so much help, she went well beyond what any reasonable person would do: We had sent our newest recording to get duped but the CDs weren't going to be ready for the day we left Vancouver so Casey agreed to receive them for us in Saint Louis. She even went down to UPS to pick them up for us then brought them to the club. She took us out to an after hours place where Reg and Bert got completely wasted then brought us all back to her house where we crashed out She woke up early to drive me to our van to get it towed to the transmission shop and then found the least expensive car rental place and drove me there as well, a heck of a girl that one. Casey's toilet broke so we went to Home Depot to get the parts and I fixed it for her, in partial repayment of her kindness We headed off to Crown Point Indiana in our suweet rental van. Crown Point's a suckass strip mall, we got lost 'cause none of the streets are labeled, the show was at a coffee shop with a whole bushel of pop punk bands and gap kids in attendance, needless to say, the Crown Point kids didn't understand our brand of punk (except 4 little fat kids who came up to me after we played, kudos to them) We didn't wanna stick around Lame ass Crown Point so we drove the 40 miles to Chicago. My younger sister Serena useta live in Chicago and she goes back there for a week or so every 6 weeks to tattoo her Chicago customers, she just happened to be in Chicago while we were there so we went to where she was staying and stayed the night with here there, we were getting stinky so we had showers, washed our clothes and Serena made us a great big breakfast, she's such a great sister, my bandmates are amazed at all that she selflessly does for us. the Black Haloes were also in Chicago and were playing an early show, Jay put us on the guest list so we went and checked 'em out before our first show. The Haloes were great, Billy IS rock 'n roll. He gave me some japanese super hero toys and I gave him our CD. Turns out this was their last show on the tour as Billy hurt his back the night before, he's still in pain as of this writing. Give his back a little rub for me if you see him, real gentle though. The show at the Big Horse was not very well promoted and we were the only ones playing so it was pretty much a rehearsal for our other show (at the Subterranean) that night. They fed us big burritos and PBRs which made it all worthwhile. Can't hardly remember the Subterranean show, I was d-runk and t-ired, I remember that Imperial Battlesnake and the Decibators were top notch high motherluvin quality rock 'n roll. theBertman and Reg stayed up all night with Wes the frontman of Imperial Battlesnake but I slept through it, had a smoke with Wes in the morning and then grabbed some lunch at the Pontiac before we headed off towards Boston. Boston's really far away from Chicago but we had two days to do the drive so we stayed in a Motel just East of Cleveland to recharge our batteries. We still had a long drive ahead of us the next day so we hauled motherluvin ass to get to Boston in time for our show, we saw the first bit of bad weather on our entire tour but it was gone by morning. Played with 20 foot Halo who were great, American Car who suck, and Local Tough Guy who rip it up at O'briens - a great bar, we expected our friends the Beatings from Boston would show up at the show but they didn't, disappointing, we were hoping that they'd help us out with a place to stay but thankfully Local Tough Guy had us stay with them in Salem, Reg stayed up all night and played cards, he got taken for like 5 bucks. Off to Philadelphia, played with a DJ who was supposed to spin punk, a handful of people there but they gave us some really good pizza. Stayed with the drummer from a really cool rock band called Hilliard? Gilliam? Hilliam? Can't quite remember but I'll find out and fix it. Reggie loves to snack so he went to walk to a convenience store and ended up getting chased by a couple of guys who threw bottles at him and yelled that they were going to kill him. He got lost and spent the night hanging out at a convenience store before he magically was able to get ahold of us and find out the address of the place we were all at - thank god is right. up to Kingston NY (near the catskills) a short drive and a great show, the kids were super cool as were the other bands on the bill. Headed back to NYC that night to stay with my older sister Sara who lives in Manhattan. She showed us around the next day - we had a day off. We went to Grand Central Station and saw a terrorist get chased down by like a dozen cops and like 10 guys in camouflage fatigues. I got a picture if you don't fuckin' believe me asshole. We went to CBGB's that night and saw some suck ass bands, it was like lame ass radio friendly rock, the sort of bands that should be playing in the suburbs on a Tuesday not CBGB's on a Saturday, it was great to be at CBGB's but I don't know why they hafta have such terrible bands play when there're so many great ones around. Back down to Johnstown PA, just east of Pittsburgh. All ages show in a hall, kids were great, other bands were great, we played great, great show. Turns out the Last Hope is a Christian Punk band. Christian Punk bands scare the heck out of me but these guys were suuuper cool. the singer Justin had us stay in the basement of his tattoo shop in Pittsburgh and then gave us $20 for lunch because he knows what it's like. We're looking forward to getting back there and hanging out with this new breed of Christian Punkers. We drank the best beer I've ever tasted and bought 24 of them to bring back to Canada with us. Iron City they're called, they come in aluminum bottles. Back to Chicago for the second time on this tour, played at the Pontiac where all my sister's friends work with this great Garage Rock Band Camaro Rouge. Fritz from the Decibators works there and he treated us awfully well, we got food and drinks, we were all set. We had a tearful hugging session after the show and then stayed up real late drinking and carousing. Our van was fixed so we had to drive back down to Saint Louis to pick it up, Casey took us all out for drinks, once again raising the bar for club promoters worldwide. We picked up our now repaired van and dropped off our rental and headed on our way. I misplaced the faceplate from my stereo so we had no music for the rest of our tour. fuck. Hauled ass for like 9 hours to Minneapolis, pretty much played as soon as we got there, had a great time, despite a recent smoking ban which placed the patrons of the bar we were at outside for most of our set, apparently they could hear us just fine and our performance was met with accolades. We got to play with Minneapolis bands the Skinnys and Stateline Motel, both stellar bands, we can't wait to get back there. Our next show was in Missoula, 1200 miles away at 9 pm, so we hit the road at 2am and drove like motherfuckers, all sorts of wildlife on the freeway in North Dakota at nighttime so Reggie was slowing down any time he thought he saw eyes. He saw lotsa deer corpses but no live ones thank god, Those fuckers woulda fucked up our voyager. We made it to Missoula by 8pm after driving for like 17 hours straight, another great show, Missoula rocks, we loved it. Kudos to Milli from Sasshole for being a damn good promoter, she didn't let us stay at her house, too messy she said. We did our laundry, changed the oil in the Voyeur, and hit the dang road toward Spokane WA, a mere 3 hours away. Thank god, after that long ass drive. Only 2 more shows to go, we were looking forward to getting back home but sad to not be playing every night as well. We showed up at the Molotov Room which is in a part of Spokane I never new existed, Spokane's generally a sterile quiet city on account of all the murders, but this part of town called Hilliard is run down with plenty of soul. The Molotov Room is in an old Masonic Temple and it's run by some cool folks, they help you haul your gear there which I've never seen before. We'll certainly be heading back that way. Looking forward to it. Another short little 6 hour drive to Stanwood, we stopped at my sister Serena's house in Seattle and got showered up plus she fed us, whatta gal. We headed off to Stanwood for our last show, sob. got to play with Northwest Legends the DTs and a great band called Ovipositor who did an MX80 cover, I love MX80. After the show we went back to Bob and Tami's and listened to Motorhead all night long. Went to an awesome mexican restaurant for breakfast and then headed home. Good to be back, I still haven't fully recovered, burning the candle at both ends sure takes alot out of you.

Current mood:  lethargic

we had another great Vancouver show, we may have to re-assess our hatred for the Vancouver rock 'n roll scene, no, not quite yet, we'll hafta see how our show in January goes.

Siamese Mistress were phenomenal, they dish out the Stoner Rock Straight Up and proper, I wish they'd stop changing their name though.

the Flairs were and unexpected treat, they're damn good, straight ahead r 'n r, they finished their set with a great cover of Rebel Yell, the scarves on the mic stand are a little strange, but different strokes right?

Kudos to Kelly for putting on these shows and giving great sound, she says she only wants to do sound and is probably not gonna be doing the booking and promoting for much longer, which would be a shame, if anybody talks to her in the near future be sure and beg her to keep doing it

Current mood:  accomplished
we played our first show back in Vancouver, since our little tour, last night and we had a great time, I almost have renewed faith in the Vancouver Rock 'n Roll scene. We brought No Means Yes up from Seattle and they were awesome, check 'em out, they're our friends. I've seen Removal a few times now and they were the best I've ever seen 'em last night, it was super cool, it's the first time I wasn't thinking these guys need a singer. John Wright from No Means No was there, that was really cool, to be in the company of such greatness, we went back to Married to Music's house and partied 'til 5am with him and lotsa folks from the Asbalt, folks were jamming in M2M's basement and there was some really cool stuff going on. I'm super hung over now, the 222 feels pretty good though, gotta get some breakfast \m/ rock it! get it on \m/

Current mood:  excited
We're back in Vancouver from our 10 day tour to AZ, CA, OR, WA. We wish to god that we could've stayed out for a few more months - so now we're planning a 3 week trip around the US for April or something. We played 9 shows in 8 cities over 10 days, met tons of really great people, drove alot of miles, drank alot of beer and smoked alot of cigarettes. Some high points: Phoenix - I fucking love Phoenix and I can't wait to get back, the people were enthusiastic and friendly, we had an awesome time partying and it was sad to have to leave. It rained for the entire 3 days we were there. Reg's sister Janice met us here and left us with her hotel room which was great 'cause we didn't really have a place to stay, it was sooo luxurious (by our low standards) Oakland - again met some great people, the French Fry Factory is simply a shining oasis and we can't wait to get back there, the bands we played with were absolutely top notch (Chow Nasty, the Commonwealth, The Wanton, The Sleaves, The Dead Hensons) - we had to leave at 4 am to get a head start on the long drive to Phoenix. LA - played on a wednesday night and it didn't affect the crowd whatsoever, lotsa enthusiasastic punk fans who bought all our stuff, we managed to get a live off the floor recording of this show that I'm gonna post somewhere. Our ex drummer Denise lives in Silver Lake and she puts us up/puts up with us while we're here - it makes if very easy to travel around with this kind of support San Diego - we didn't expect anything for a Tuesday night but were again met with overwhelming enthusiasm, Paloma from Erotomania showed us some unbelievable hospitality by letting us keep her, her roomates and her neighbors up 'til like 5 Seattle - this was the perfect way to finish our little trip off - kudos to Ari at the Stash Spot for putting on these shows, it was an earshattering drunken good time, Lake of Falcons were simply amazing and of course we simply brought the rock and left it right there on the floor. our brothers Mauser were again extremely hospitable :) Jose bought us breakfast at the Pinecone in Lynnwood that was very palatable Portland - we were an hour away from Portland on the first night of our tour and we get a call from Bunty of the Muddy River Nightmare Band asking us if Chicken Enchiladas are alright for dinner, we got to his house and he fed us and gave us beer, a stellar dude in a stellar band there were really no extremely low points except Roseville is a lame ass fucking town that we'll never ever return to, though we may give Sacramento a chance next time. no real car troubles except my temperature gauge seems to have gone on the fritz, I'll see if I can't get 'er fixed we didn't hafta sleep in the car even once, though we did stay at a motel 6 one night sold a fair amount of CDs and T Shirts and even got paid at most places so we may have come close to breaking even, next time out I'm gonna promote our shows like hell so we may not suffer a loss at all We got pulled over just South of LA by a cop who apparently wanted to talk about hockey - he then blocked 3 lanes of traffic and gave us directions over his loudspeaker to get us back on the on ramp
