27th & 28th October Glasgow, King Tut’s Wah-Wah Hut Two great nights in Glasgow…
King Tut’s is a great venue, a band and crew favourite. Thanks to everyone there for looking after us – very friendly, very efficient and, most importantly, bloody excellent grub!
The first night was slightly quieter than we’d come to expect from Glasgow!! Very chilled shall we say? We went for the chronological approach this night. We thoroughly enjoyed it, if a little knocked back by the ‘chillaxed’ crowd!! We invited Ricky up to join us for the encore, ‘Screamager’, which was a real treat. We finished the night with a couple of pints in Nice and Sleazy’s and hit the hotel.
On day two we had a trip over to see Tom Russell at Rock Radio. Andy took over the show for an hour and played his all time favourite tunes then ran through an acoustic version of ‘Screamager’. I had a little time to go shopping and wander the streets of Glasgow. We’ve all agreed to do a secret Santa towards the end of the tour, so I decided to get in early and get my gift sorted. Job done!
Night two was definitely less relaxed!! Far closer to what we’ve come to expect in Glasgow. To shake things up a little, we re-jigged the set and asked Ricky to join us again in the encore. This time doing ‘Screamager’ plus Ricky’s tune ‘Three Sides to Every Story’.
Following the show we’ve a long drive to Nottingham, so with kebabs aloft we head off into the night!

25th October Liverpool, Academy 2
"Feelin’ Chipper"
Wake up outside the gig and it’s a quiet wet Sunday. Inside the crew are slowly sorting out the gear and we have a bite to eat before a quick soundcheck. Sound onstage is particularly good and after a nice hot shower begin to get psyched up for the gig.
Watch a bit of Ricky from out front as the place fills up and then go back down to the dressing room to check the setlist and warm up a bit on my guitar. For a wet Sunday it’s a pretty mental crowd, much more responsive than the last time we played here and the vibe is great.
Plenty of singing along and moshpit action at the front and we leave the stage to a sea of up raised hands.
Aftershow we take it easy, shower and pack up our duds. I’ve had a recurring problem with chipped cartilage in my left knee and I feel it beginning to play up again. As most doctors would say, plenty of rest and fluids should sort it!

26th October Manchester, Club Academy "Vibes In The Area"
Love this gig! We’ve played this place quite a few times over the years in several of the rooms and always have a good time and get treated well. The Uni is absolutely packed and after a quick visit to the post office we go and check out the venue. Seems cool, nice PA and friendly
local crew.
Do a bit of press, hang with some of the Wombles then over to get ‘gig ready’ it is. Unfortunately the start of our set is marred by a string of un foreseen and very unlikely bass mishaps. First the strap nut on my bass shears off leaving a screw broken in the hole (no way to fix unless you have electric drill onstage!), the strap on the back-up bass begins to split and then one of the bass heads crap out. Fucking nightmare and it’s a testament to Andy, Neil and the crowds good humour that we get it sorted and all again back on track.
After the early mishaps the gig is a ‘Major Rager’ with the crowd going mental and I can hear that Rich is delivering a sonic onslaught out front. Really, really one of the most enjoyable gigs I’ve done in ages so it’s with great pride we walk off to the sound of swirling feedback.
As one wag put it later... “That sounded like Metallica playing at the Hacienda!”
After we show and after a bit of deliberation we pop over to Bigs Hands for a swift one (long drive to Glasgow tonight!). See a few more Wombles and the ever gentlemanly Russ Russell then on to bus and North bound we are.

24th October Leeds, Damnation Festival
(Rock And Roll) Damnation
It's a most pleasant start to the day and we get into the Uni and after a quick cuppa it's soundcheck time. Due to the sheer number of bands on the bill it's a shared backline so we spend a bit of time working out how to rebuild the drumkit into a way we can use and tweak the hire amps.
A couple of tunes then it's doors open and I slope off to catch a quick bit of "And So I Watch You From Afar". They're on a smaller stage right down in the 'belly' of the Uni so by the time Steve and I get there they are already into their 3rd song. Nice to see they are playing a blinder and the place is packed. Arrange to hookup with them later then it's time for Electric Fuckin'Wizard. They're sounding brutal and all seem really into it. Soon enough its time for a run of press so miss out on a few other bands to do the chats.
Our set is written so pre-show we just chill and through the dressing room wall hear Destruction blazing through all the hits. Our gig goes really well and the crowd reaction is brilliant, totally packed room as
well. The hire kit takes a turn for the worst as it pretty much collapses halfway through "Punishment Kiss". Neil makes a very good recovery and soon enough we're finishing up with "Isolation".
Aftershow I have a very quick shower then we're off to see Lock-Up on the Terrorizer stage. That is fucking brutal and it's great to hear all the 'hits'. Steve, Dave and myself are rocking out side of stage so
when they burst into "Fear Of Napalm" by Terrorizer (the legendary grindcore band), the place goes ape.
A dose of Life Of Agony and a chat with the ever charming Mr Caputo then we round up the troops, get our stuff on the bus and head to the aftershow. All good fun in there, music is waaay too loud to have a
decent conversation but we chill and chat with the Ted Maul and Napalm gents. My phone is registering a couple of missed from the ASIWUFA boyos, sorry lads, it was all so hectic by that stage we thought it was best to stay where we were.
Nice one Damnation, great fest, great bands, great atmosphere...

22nd Oct Portsmouth, Wedgewood Rooms
We arrive in Portsmouth bright an early. Me and Ricky head out for a run down the sea front hoping to sweat out the ridiculous quantities of White Russians consumed after the show at the Wulfrun Hall last night.
We hear a laundrette’s near the venue so everyone disappears with bags of dirty skids, only to reappear later with bags of clean, aromatic freshness.
I like this venue. Not only nice people, good PA and good stage but more importantly clean showers and a decent loo backstage. I tell you what, you’d be amazed at how important those little things become when you’re on tour!
After nipping out for a bite to eat and a set list reshuffle, we head back to the venue to catch Ricky play a blinder of a set.
We open tonight with Rust, Punishment Kiss and Bad Excuse For Daylight. Head That Tried To Strange Itself makes its first appearance on this tour too which is a nice treat.
Thanks to everyone for coming down, what a great turn out. It’s nice to see so many familiar faces alongside a gaggle of unfamiliar faces - welcome one and all!!!
We finish the gig, shower, sort ourselves out and head off. It’s a long drive to Nottingham for our day off, so we hit the road and ‘DJ wars’ begins.
One song each, no conferring – the question is, who’ll be getting the party started and who’ll be dropping the musical clangers?

21st Oct Wolverhampton, Wulfrun Hall
Quite a nice relaxing day. As we're already at the gig we just potter in and out, eat a bit of lunch and get the gear re-tweaked after the London gig. Soundcheck is again leisurely and after a cool interview we sit down to proper cooked dinner. The lasagne is particulary good and we nearly choke on it when Andy's prediction for the apple crumble and custard dessert comes correct. Checked out a bit of Elle Diablos soundcheck then pop round to see how Diamond is getting on with the raffle, apparently people are getting into it and the prospect of winning has already brought out quite a compeditive edge in some people... ;)
Swap the set around a bit, going with "Rise Up" and "If It Kills Me" again and soon enough it's get the greasepaint on time! Ricky W goes down a storm and Andy and I watch from the wings as the crowd sing along and get the party started. A quick changeover and soon our new intro tape is running…see if any of you’s out there recognise it. Sound onstage is a tiny bit weird for me, it seems to be different in every spot I stand in. Not to worry as both Neil and Andy are on form so that helps me lock well in.
Afterwards we chill out and our resident cocktail expert mixes us up some glorious White Russians. The raffle seems to have gone well and the lucky winner heading off with a signed cymbal, signed cassingle and an old copy of our fanclub magazine “The Funny Farm”. Have a bit of late dinner, sign some autographs and soon enough we’re back on the bus and heading for the land of nod.
SHOWER RATING: 7/10 PRETTY NICE, MARKED DOWN AS THERE WAS NOWHERE TO HANG CLOTHES OR TOWEL.
FOOD RATING: 8/10 SUSHI LUNCH, VEGGIE LASAGNE DINNER AND LOAD OUT PIZZA. WELL FED!

20th October London, Garage
A long day. I’ve a follow up appointment in Cambridge Hospital for my recent eye surgery so it’s up on the bus early , on the tube to Kings Cross and then on to Cambs.
I’m knackered and cold and it can be difficult going home once you’ve started a tour as once you taste the sweet, sweet comfort it can be difficult to go back to some of the piss sodden back stage areas.
After the appointment I’m back on the trains and I arrive at tea time back in London, just in time to meet our manager, agent and some journalists for interviews.
Tonight is being recorded with the possibility of inclusion on a live album next year.
None of us want to concentrate on this too much as it can make the gig a very self-conscious affair.
The place is packed but I find the audience somewhat muted for the first three quarters of the set. It takes me a while to settle into the show, I’m still tired from a sleepless night and the days travelling but at least the crowd seems good natured enough.
I’m really beginning to enjoy playing the Crooked Timber material live especially Bad Excuse for Daylight and Exiles. I’ve been dedicating Bad Excuse.. to the writer Gwendoline Reilly whose book Joshua Spassky supplied the title of the song. If you haven’t come across the book I’d really recommend you check it out. Really fresh writing in my opinion and gorgeously spot on with the ephemera of relationships.
Present at tonight’s show is Gary walker who ran Wiiija records, I’m made up he’s come along to the show but I don’t get a chance to talk to him later.
Everybody seems happy enough with the show and the sound and energy levels.
Afterwards when all is calm we retire to the bus where myself and Ricky Warwick spend some time looking up old Ulster punk footage on youtube. Rudi-The Pressure’s On, Protex-Don’t Ring Me Up, Ruefrex-Flowers For All Occasions…
Tomorrow is a day off so we’re planning to go check out Ulster punk legends Stiff Little Fingers in Wolverhampton.

18th Oct 2009 Brighton, Concorde 2 A day off in Brighton... lovely. After the showers at the Bristol and Newport gigs being, well, none existent, it was nice to have a hotel and a leisurely shower to wash away the aches and pains. Went out early doors to watch the Chelsea v Villa game. Villa won 2-1. Andy, Diamond Dave and tour manager Rich were not happy. Later, myself and Michael hit the cinema to watch ‘Zombieland’. Great soundtrack.
I won’t spoil it for you but the film contains the cameo appearance of the year!! Woke up on the day of the gig and would you believe it I’m coming down with a cold (man flu??!!) – boooooo. So, dosed up on max strength Lemsips and coffee for the gig. Even though it was a Sunday night a great crowd turned out for us and, although I was feeling slightly trippy on the vast amount of cold remedies I’d ingested throughout the day to combat the said lurgy, I really enjoyed the gig. Innocent X and Summer of Hate being highlights for me. Also, Magic Mountain, rolled out for the first time this tour, which was a bit of a treat too. Next up? That London. Cheers,

16th Oct 2009 Newport, TJ's Ah, TJ's. A legendary venue that we have a great history with…
Our gig with Hole in '92 was the one at which Kurt Cobain showed up and proposed to Courtney Love.
We've done many shows there over the years and it's always a pleasure to come back. John the owner is there and cooking us dinner with a huge welcome. The town itself has suffered a little bit with the old credit crunch since I've last been and many shops are closed down, that hasn't dampened the spirit of the punters though who turn up in droves and go ape-shit the whole set. Punishment Kiss feels great to play and the new material goes down a treat. All the banter and good will from the crowd is infectious. There is a reason why this place is called 'the legendary' T.J's.

15th Oct 2009 Bristol, Thekla Pt.2 This was one of those gigs that I'll remember for a very long time to come…
We find out on arrival that the gig is sold out (always good for morale) and then on the way into the gig spot TV actor from Casualty (the bloke who plays Nick Jordan).
Had a great walk round the city which I've always been very fond of and blasting loads of local music in my ipod (Peverelist, Joker). I don't have time to get to Rooted Records as we've got soundcheck and interviews. The whole atmosphere in the club is of warmth and good will, Left Side Brain play another blinder and Ricky Warwick gets the crowd singing along.
When we come on, the crowd are with us from the start and that carries us along to the end of the show. I really enjoyed playing the Crooked Timber tunes especially Bad Excuse For Daylight and Exiles.
Afterwards everybody pretty much stays in the club but myself, Ricky and Diamond Dave chill on the bus. I'm so made up that the crowd in one of my favourite cities in the UK was so cool and a big respect to them and the staff of the Thekla for making it such a huge night for us.
The whole gig was also filmed with 3 cameras so be prepared to see some footage at some point.

Down by the water and all is good. Last time we played the Thekla was in 1992 on the "Nurse" tour so it's great to be back.
Day is slow and quiet in a chilled out way so we potter about and do a good soundcheck (plan is to throw in "Nausea", "Rise Up" and a few other treats into the set). As it's an early show we have an early dinner then go down into the 'hull' to check out Left Side Brain. They're sounding great with a big heavy sound so that's a nice way to get fired up for the show. Again Andy introduces Ricky W and he goes down a storm playing a good mix of new and old songs. Soon enough we're onstage and having a brilliant time. The crowd is great, so is the sound and the atmosphere is brilliant! Definately one of the best club shows we've done in a few years in my opinion. After we finish up and get towelled down have a few drinks with the LSB lads and then off to Newport it is! SHOWER RATING: 0/10 NO SHOWERS TODAY BOYO, BABYWIPES OF SHAME IT IS.

Oct 14th 2009 - Swansea, Sin City
Haven't been to Swansea in years, so it was something to look out for, see if it was how I remembered it...
We arrive full of energy as the night before we'd had a rehearsal and easy leaving time. Myself and merch legend, Diamond Dave had also gone out to see a production of Samuel Beckett's Endgame at the Duchess Theatre in Covent Garden (well recommended).
Sin City in Swansea is a very rock 'n' roll venue. The people are friendly and the journalists who turn up to interview the band are curious and supportive (big thanks to Dom and Chris for the Subbuteo teams and big up to Alisdair and Grant).
The gig seems a bit slow to get going and I'm wondering if it's a cold autumn night in Wales that's the cause or our playing, but about half way through the gig things step up a gear and we all seem to find our stride.
Left Side Brain are on first and have a terrific sound, Ricky Warwick follows with a great set (and soothes any nerves he had about playing) and it's all over too quickly. If you're coming to the shows make sure you catch Ricky and the local support.
By the way, I was reminded , on arrival in the town, of a wonderful book I read last year, set in Swansea. Submarine by Joe Dunthorne is great and had me in hysterics at some points.

THE GLITTERATI SIGN WITH DR2 GLOBAL MUSIC are pleased to welcome Leeds-rockers, THE GLITTERATI, to DR2 RECORDS.

RELEASE ‘CRAZY’ SINGLE
AVAILABLE TO DOWNLOAD FROM 28TH SEPTEMBER 2009
GLOBAL MUSIC are pleased to announce the release of ‘CRAZY’, the first single from the new W.A.S.P album, BABYLON. The single will be available for download from September 28th 2009.
Front-man, Blackie Lawless, commented on the track: "Although like it may sound like a man talking to a woman, 'Crazy' is about a performer talking to an audience; the dangers of idol worship and elevating Musicians and Politicians to a level that's dangerous!"
The full album, BABYLON, is available in the UK & Europe from October 12th and in Germany from October 16th 2009. Blackie and his crew will also be hitting the road for a full European tour to celebrate the release.

Ricky Warwick is set to play a row of concerts in Tel Aviv, together with major Israeli Rock singer Izhar Ashdot.
Ashdot is a majorly recognised musician throughout Israel who has released 6 solo albums and 4 records with his 80's band, T-Slam. Also a top producer in Israel, Ashdot's most acclaimed success was the Ofra Haza 1988 album "Shadai" which sold million copies worldwide.
This collaberation of shows has led to the pair recording a new song together, especially for this mini tour. "The Star Of The County Down" to be performed at these following special events:

........Hey what’s up!!
It has been a while since I put out a blog, but I figured I should keep you all up to date with what Dear Superstar are up to right now.
First up, we are receiving lots of messages and comments asking when we a going to be touring again... Well the simple answer to that is really fucking soon – I promise! We will be back out on the road in Autumn and stay on the road through to Christmas - we will announce where and when in the next few weeks!
We have toured relentlessly since 2004 and whilst 5 years on the road can take its toll on people, we fuckin’ thrive on it. Dear Superstar are built for the road and we are so proud of the reputation we have built, it is kind of killing us to be taking some time out from the insane life on the road!
As ya know, we hit 2009 harder than ever touring with Papa Roach and Buckcherry across the UK and Europe, including slots at Download Festival and Sonisphere Festival... We planned on continuing to tour right through, however, on our last show at Sonisphere I was in an accident which totally shattered two of my ribs. Obviously I couldn’t sing until they healed (it was agonising to just breathe), so we couldn’t continue with the kind of intense touring schedule we are known for, until I was better.
For Dear Superstar, being away from music and each other is our worst nightmare!! So we decided to go into the studio and start writing/recording some new tracks. We’ve seen some horrific lows and euphoric highs since we released “Heartless” in 2008, so we have a lot to write about and some kick-ass ideas!.... So whilst my ribs have been healing, we have been slaying some of the best music we have ever created. I’m so fucking excited about these tracks - breaking my ribs was a fucking blessing in disguise!
So until we start touring again, we are putting out our single “Brothers in Blood” for FREE download from http://www.7digital.com/artists/dear-superstar/brothers-in-blood, plus a music video! The music video is now being aired on KERRANG! TV from this week!... We will have more airtime on other channels soon, so will let you know the times asap!
Also, KERRANG! Magazine are doing a full page piece on Dear Superstar this week (9th September), so go pick up a copy on Wednesday ok!?
My ribs are pretty much back together now and I’ve been working hard with vocal coaching via Mark Baxter (Steve Tyler, Josh Todd, Scott Weiland etc) so I’m now hard at work laying vocals over the new tracks! We will give you a taster real soon!! We won’t sit on them for too long, we want everyone to know the tracks so when we get back out around the UK and Europe, we can sing them together!!
