I just want to let everyone know that the item appearing in The Courier Journal yesterday was inaccurate. I do not have pancreatic cancer. I had a tumor removed from my stomach that was malignant but I'm told that they believe they got all of the bad cells removed. I'll have follow up radiation through the month of May and hopefully that wil be the end of it.

Sometimes wrong information gets spread through no ones fault and I just want to set the record straight.

Thanks to everyone for the beautiful thoughts and prayers. I'm on the mend now and hope to be back out playing by early summer. My friends have been holding down the fort at Zeppelin's on wednesday and doing a great job. Tim and the staff at Zep's have been very generous.
This ordeal has only raised my faith in the kindness of people.
I want to mention the doctors who treated me. They are amazing! I never thought much about them till I needed them but these people are genius angels.
I'm looking forward to seeing you all soon.

I've been dealing with some health issues the last few weeks and I'm finally getting a handle on what's happening.I will need an operation to relieve some of this side and stomach pain I've been experiencing.
I feel possitive that once that's taken care of I'll be back to100%
I plan on being at Zeppelin's cafe this wednesday and the Ky BBQ this friday.
I'll let you know of any changes .
Thanks for your good vibes!!!

My wandering days are over for awhile and I'm back at KY BBQ on Fridays, 8:00 with good friends sitting in.
I just want to say that Hambone did a great set Valentine night at Headliners. Catch him when you can!

I'm really looking forward to this weekend. Friday the 13th I travel to nashville to play the Bluebird. Also in the round is my sometime songwritng partner Kim Richey, who I haven't seen in a while,( where ya been?) and pop legend Bill Lloyd of Foster and Lloyd ,and his own stellar career, and just as legendary Peter Holsapple formerly of the DB's and more recently working the road with REM and Hootie And The Blowfish.
Saturday TKO plays Headliners. Interesting note, Tim Krekel and the Groovebillies were the first show ever at Headliners way back in the day. It's been a while since we've played there and we always have a good show at Head's. There has been little promotion of the show but hopefully you guys will find your way there.
On another subject , I've been talking to cousin Don Krekel and I'm going to be a guest with his Orchestra at Comedy Caravan March 9th.I'm really excited about venturing into these unknown waters. We're working on an arraingment of one of my songs and I can't wait to hear how it turns out.
Happy Valentine's Day one and all!

I arrived home from a 2 week trip south yesterday and feel , again , like the luckiest man on earth. While Louisville struggled through the worst ice storm in recorded history Debbie and I were in Florida and Georgia. It was hard to believe what was happening back home and we are so sorry for the hard times so many had to suffer.
I also learned of the passing of friend and fine guitarist Greg Land while away.
I think I'll stay home for awhile.
the gigs in Florida went great. I played The State Theater in Eustis on a Friday night and a house party at our good friends Carlin and Laura's on Saturday. Both nights were beautiful. Central Florida grows some of the nicest people in the world and we're blessed to know them.
This past weekend I played at The Swallow At The Hollow with a Nashville based singer/songwriter name Victoria Banks. She was real fun to perform with and has a great voice and songs. Check her out on myspace.
Origanally I was to play the show with a small band but the economic crunch put a stop to that. But Bill Green , owner of the Swallow assures me that he wants to have the whole TKO band there some time this summer. Watch for that and make plans to attend if you can. It's a nice venue and the food will put a hurtin' on you.
This week it's back to friendly, familiar haunts. Zeppelins on Wednesday and Saturday, and KYBBQ on Friday. Hope to see you there.

The show  at The Swallow in Roswell is now a songwriter show. TKO will play there later in the year.

Next week I head for Florida for a couple of gigs and then stop in Roswell Ga. for the last weekend of the month. It's really a nice perk of my job to be able to go to Florida in January! I've got some very close friends and family to see while down there. So this friday, the 16th at KYBBQ is the last Louisville show of this month. I'm looking forward to the trip but I also know I'll be happy to return in February. Stay Warm Friend!!!!

Feeling the urgency of the current economic crises , the Tim Krekel Orchestra awoke at the crack of dawn Sunday to rush to Nashville and record The Bailout Blues . There we met up with studio wonderkind Michael Webb and entered Westwood studios to bring this masterwork to a quick completion! Armed with our tools of trade the impeccable "Mikes" ( Alger and Williams) laid down a solid floor where the song could move along like a Mystery Train outta Memphis. I sang with all my heart this sad tale of modern travail and even our lost brother John Mann came in to put a little Johnny Cash acoustic rhythm. The Tempura horns (A.J. on trumpet, Murph on sax, and Donn on trombone ) put a beautiful hallelujah punctuation mark . I then blazed over the whole mess with the most scorching guitar I've ever recorded. Economic advisors Marshall Chapman and Sam Bush dropped by to offer council. The result speaks for itself!
This may not solve anything and it doesn't really offer any solutions but it may help you dance through this thing with some hope in your heart that rock and roll will prevail!
Two days after recording it our friend Dan Reed offered it up on his New Music Show at WXPN in Philadelphia!
Check it out as a download on timkrekel.com and see what all the fuss is about!!!

It feels like winter whether it is or not. Lot's of people are feeling the pinch this year including my new friends at Zeppelins. It's a great little spot in Germantown with good food and a cool music room upstairs.I'm there tonight (wednesday) and I'll be there the Saturdays after Christmas and New Years. Mickey Clark is there this saturday the 20th. If you can, come help support a new venue trying to get off the ground.
Been having a big time at KyBBq on fridays with great crowds showing up.This saturday I'm playing with Tyrone Cotton and Pat Haney at The Monkey Wrench.I've never played there before and it's gonna be a memorable show with such fine songwriters.
Also friday I'm on Live Lunch on WFPK for their Christmas show with Tyrone, Leighann Yost and Teneia Sanders.
Last saturday was a special night at The Rud when Marshall Chapman came to town. If you weren't there I know your friends who were have already made you jealous! Be there next time!
I have to mention the Harry Bickel Christmas Party at The Rud last sunday. Harry graciously has invited me for years and this was the first time I could attend. It was a special one in that they were filming performances for The Bluegrass Hotel project that honors Harry's house where so many of the bluegrass musicians who came to town to play with the Bluegrass Alliance stayed in the 70s.
The music was incredible. the Bluegrass Allstars consisted of JD Crowe, Sam Bush,John Cowen,Tony Rice, Curtis Burch and Bluegrass Alliance founder Dan Crary.Later all of the surviving members of Bluegrass Alliance played. I heard someone say that 100 members have been in and out of the band, including Vince Gill.
Also good to hear Jack Lawrence and so many others and catch up with friends I haven't seen in many years.
Don't forget to join TKO for New Years at The Vernon. It will be a fine way to usher in a year when we can all be happy for a "change"!
