As if anyone were interested, I will now describe a typical Saturday, namely today, in the life on BadState -- maybe I should change that to "DadState". Allow me to continue.

Child the first, Edward, bursts into parents' room approximately 7:00 AM and attempts to infiltrate parents' bed. DadState rejects, instructs child one to procure spare blanket and pillow from chair and make do on the floor next to Dad's bed. Assisted floor nest building is followed by incessant chatter from child, angry yelling from Mom in bed next to Dad, having been rudely awakened, continued chatter from child one.

Enter much smaller child number two, Tasha. Uncharacteristic early morning whining combined with leaky pants and continued irritating chatter from child one ultimately drive Dad from bed, approximately 8:00 AM. Mom stays in bed.

Child one activated second bedroom computer (yes, we have two computers in our bedroom, plus two laptops. Are we geeky? Yes we are.) while Dad changes child two in the kids' room. Child two continues whining. She wants to watch Tom and Jerry -- again. Child one reluctantly leaves computer behind to retire with Dad and Sis to the kitchen for breakfast. Mom stays in bed. OK, now it's really 8:00 AM.

In the kitchen, Dad begins making coffee while child one helps himself to breakfast consisting of Taco Bell Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes left over from last night's dinner. Child two asks to watch Tom and Jerry -- again.

This is getting too long. Fast forward.

Dad begins first of several loads of laundry. Kids finish breakfast. Kid one returns to bedroom computer, irritating still-sleeping Mom. 9:00. Mom has to go to works at 10:00. She gets up. Dad gets kids ready to drop Mom off at work. Mom works at Costco. We need to do some shopping today.

Kids get tired halfway through shopping. Both kids want to get in the shopping cart, neither is willing to sit in the provided child seat. The cart is too full. Both cranky, tired kids must continue to walk. Whining and punch-drunk behavior continues through to the end. Return home, unpack and put away groceries, unwrap hermetically sealed toy packing times two, feed everyone return to laundry. 1:00 PM.

The day continues fairly quietly, with more loads of laundry, a few squabbles to break up. Not too bad. Now it's 4:00. More laundry. See ya.

I've been fiddling with my profile a little. I think it looks much better now. Really, the main reason I'm posting this blog is to make the blog box on my profile page a little taller. Anyone can see I don't really do the MySpace blog thing. In fact, my Blogger blog has faltered for a while now. Maybe I can start to focus a little more now. We'll see.
