Chicago-based singer-songwriter Kevin Lee is back with his 3rd studio album titled "Flip the Switch". Many may know Kevin from his MCA days when he released an album with The Lonesome City Kings where the group worked with producer Frank Fillipetti (Kiss, Korn, Foreigner).
These days, Kevin goes solo and delivers damn fine modern-day melodic guitar driven pop/rock. His new album is a pure blast to listen to because Kevin manages to come up with first class melodies and catchy hooklines.
He has a strong voice that is made for this kind of pop/rock and lifts up the songs even more, I have only big words to say about this new Kevin Lee album.

The guitars shine out more on this then on his previous "Loaded" album from 2002. Yes, the guitars are heavier but still he has managed to create wonderful pop/rock melodies that should please many of Melodic.net readers.
"Won't Shed A Tear" takes you back to a sound that reminds a bit of Enuff Znuff with nice strings, great mid-tempo song.
The straight-ahead guitar rocker "Hollywood Trash" is a fantastic song with outstanding melodies and great riffs.
"Can't Believe You're Mine" is a fantastic pop-influenced song that hooked me up right away. "All I Want" has a radio-warning sign over it with a superb hammond organ sound and a brilliant chorus.
Is there anybody that remembers the band Beggars & Thieves? Well, if not then these Americans released a couple of albums and Kevin Lee's "Save Me Tonight" made me think of that band.
Yes, the whole album can be compared as a mixture of Beggars & Thieves meets Cheap Trick.

Kevin has produced this album together with Josh Shapera and got a strong sounding album, first class. So if you haven't discovered this talented guy from Chicago then "Flip The Switch" should be an album to check out if you're into pop/rock with attitude that is filled with tons of melodies.
