Another day, another dollar.. The BCS gig Juggernaut rolls on through the
week-
A bottle slamming Irish rock leviathan crushing all in its path, a Celtic music behemoth destroying all in its wake... well, we did some gigs!!!
Last Monday week in the Shawl was the original gig of two halves and those that left at the interval will forever rue the time they missed the transformation of a quiet night in gig into a riot of improvisation and musical expression. In a moment of pure inspiration the audience broke into the display cabinets, stole the instruments and proceeded to match BCS in musical verve from the other end of the venue!! That the fiddles had no strings, the drums no skins and the accordions no innards mattered not- and now the smallest pub in South Harrow boasts both a main and acoustic stage.
Wednesday- Taxis to Waxy's in the heart of London's west end where BCS continue to reside and rock the capital's premier Irish pub, a string of birthday girls, Brazilians, suit boys and Rugby heads were given an appropriate 'what for'.
Friday saw the Biblecodees relocate to Glasgow- European city of Laager!! And fuelled by Bairds, The Brazen Head, Jury's, Osmosis and the bar at Heathrow airport the band was propelled to take the stage at the Carling Academy in the heart of Herman Gorbals. A great bill of fare with the Wakes and the Black Pats also in great form- the Sunday's crew whacked it out and stormed on overly refreshed to an after show, afterlife party at Maggie Mays, atmosphere was imbibed into the early hours by the vultures of culture. A gathering of the clans back at the Claddagh Ring On Sunday night saw the triumphant return of the mop top fab four. Jet lag in evidence and some of the songs stuck in outsize cabbage- we came we saw we plunsktered!!
And finally for this week, in through the out door and back in the Shawl last night, tales of Glasgow and past glories told around a low key campfire gig- Enda employing his anti Midas touch and turning everything to dung blew up yet another bass amp but despite the attendance of Gremlins a new song was welcomed into the fold. 'Another Irish Sunday' looks set to become a BCS classic and will name check many of our nearest and dearest, look out for it on a gig next week and beyond- A slight return and RIP to Mitch Mitchell late of this parish.
