So, I have decided to collaborate with Stephen Karkovich on making an album by the end of the year. Will keep writing out the new songs, but we'll be starting off trying to record older songs and recent new ones unrecorded, just to have them down, but will see how far we get with brand new songs too as they unfold in the new year.

Also another possible collaboration with 'bleeding heart narrative' who I looove on 'new song'.

Will keep you posted....

xx

PS check out 'tune yards'! Just discovered her! v.exciting. She recorded her whole album with a sony voice recorder and a laptop.

Helloo thought I'd write an update re recording and travels etc...
OMG NYNYNYNYNY!!!! Tallest buildings ever... the vertical height thing is weird and cooool!! We blitzed all the monuments, art galleries and museums and learnt new things about ancient Egyptian civilisation and NY and how a rich jewish man built a museum spinning up in a circle and I found a bar called 'the roxy' in Times square.

We stayed with some crazy friends of ours, who made videos...

silly pigeon video:

We watch as David spins round with a manic face to Mozart:

Highlights were Kandinsky at the Guggenheim, MOMA, jazz the Park and ancient slab stones and a South American parade. Also a bakery, vinyl browsing with Ernesto from Brazil, the most amazing Italian food ever and great guitar shop where I learnt about metal plate guitars- all on Bleeker St.

The gig at Caffe Vivaldi was cool, but David's brother hit me repeatedly as part of rhythm whilst playing Tiptoes. Was difficult to concentrate. Also bumped into Glen Strachan of London while there. Saw him yesterday as Cleopatra. V.Beautiful :)

Oh re recording and music making: some new songs and demos to come with vocal loops and stealing Doug's cello. Also I'm working with a great producer and we're working in the studio over the next while. Will update any forthcoming releases on here- watch this space.;)xxx

Heey!! Finally made a mediafire link- here's a couple new demos to start with: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=515ce09e45fd0fa40f83d91f6dff7c38355ce021b3b86351b8eada0a1ae8665a

(hyperlink doesn't work from myspace so copy and paste into separate window)

The first is called 'Minerva', the second 'All the Kind Men'.
Both will probably change, Minerva may be longer with cello or double bass.
Kind Men was originally on violin with cello and layered up on my looper, but quite like it with piano...

Groovy!x

Mmm, realised I hadn't updated on myspace about current projects etc., so the current period plans are to work out ideas (they always seem to come while I'm walking, so I have about 400 recordings to go through from all the journeys over the last few months).

Over summer has been also a time of working out songs, practising and playing. The playing has been trying to expand my harmonic knowledge and violin skills- which is a continuous pursuit. Also listening to as much as poss, after so much classical there is still an exceedingly large amount of music from general popular music and all the diff eras like blues, motown and funk and Rn B and rap and grime and etc etc to get to grips with...There is so much to learn it never ends...

Also I'd like to record a whole backlog of songs from the past that haven't been properly recorded before- I have about 2 to 3 albums worth of material,  so if anyone can help with that or knows producers who could record for cheap- will be simple live performance to mix and master, pls let me know.

Also working with new producers, have several potential people to work with, let me know any producers out there who might be interested. Particularly interested in acoustic electronica with dub bass rhythms...Many thanks.xx

I am organising a fundraiser for Justice Africa www.justiceafrica.org at the Cross Kings on 4th October.  The last one had a great turn out like a mini festival, with roaming musicians and a puppet show and many eclectic and interesting musicians and artists- I'm planning for the same thing this time and looking for more artists, puppeteers, burlesque dancers, musicians, photographers et al to join the bill. Please get in touch anyone who's interested: rox1982@hotmail.com
