Thanks to The Nadas for letting these ole boys tag along as "Special Guests" for what should be a killer show in cool surroundings.

Think of it...Fat Andy in an actual whiskey distillery. It's perhaps one of the scariest things we, or our significant others and family, have every considered.

"So, let the barn burn...let the band play." That would be us, and the Nadas...and of course the fantastic jam they penned to match the delicious whiskey.

We'll be on stage at 6:30 for a solid hour and then the Nadas will take the stage for the rest of the evening once we get out of the way.

For full details...go to the Nadas Blog:

Also, if you need a ride, buy a round trip ticket from Des Moines to the Templeton Rye Distillery for $35 at Authentic Records Online which includes show admission. If you purchase the $35 ticket, please be sure to keep your email receipt as it will be exchanged day of show for a wristband. exchanged day of show for a wristband.

So, we hope you've noticed that Fat Andy has done a little web spring cleaning. We've freshened up www.fatandyband.com thanks to the unbelievably talented Dani Jones...our online savior.  She rocked out some new designs and functionality.  We will be keeping it funky fresh MUCH easier...just look at the gallery and see all the new pics. The biggest change you'll notice at www.fatandyband.com is the BLOGS page, which, is much more than any old blog.

This links you to our new favorite past time Twitter ( you have to see it to understand )...plus our MySpace and Facebook pages.  Which, we've also updated and will continue to update regularly.  We're trying to "synergize" the whole Fat Andy brand name...how corporate of me...in anticipation of some big happenings soon.  So, be a Facebook and MySpace friend, watch us secretly from work on our YouTube page, become a follower on Twitter, and bookmark our Homepage.

NOW THAT'S HOW YOU MAKE THE WEB YOUR PLAYTHING, BABY!

On another front, no more talking about it...no more eluding to it...the first Fat Andy album is done!!!  We finished up the recording about a month ago.  Again, thanks to Jon Locker and Tony Bohnenkamp of The Sonic Factory ( www.sonicfactorystudios.com ) for their patience, musical talents and expertise...not to mention Mike Butterworth for some help on producing and vocals. I just don't think we imagined we could ever do this..and we couldn't have without them. Well, we could have but it might have sucked.  We just got it back from mastering and now we're working with our new record label pals to get the design, artwork, and other little trinkets done.

Our record label pals you say?  We're ridiculously excited...pants pooping excited really...to be releasing the upcoming album, titled "Motel Bottle Rocket", on the Authentic Records label ( www.authenticrecordsonline.com ) right here in lovely Des Moines, IA. Bless you Mike Butterworth (double name drop in one email!) and Jason Walsmith for taking a chance on us.

Tentatively, we plan to have it released in September.  Before that, however, we're going to try and do a digital sale of our first single "Next Comedown" and some other love.  Keep checking here for details on that.

Another person to thank for that album is Jason "Smitty" Smith.  Smitty has been the drummer, unofficial DD, sound master, and overall superman for Fat Andy going on 3 years. He really did some TREMENDOUS work on the album and his grooves are thankfully frozen in time forever on songs we're all very proud of creating as a group.  Unfortunately, the man is a man...as mentioned above...of many, many talents. So many, in fact, it's become increasingly hard to get him away from them.  As such, you won't be seeing him regularly behind the skins with us moving forward...however, he's still and will always be a part of the Fat Andy family.  Don't fret Smitty-Heads...You can still see him now and then with the always rockin' Jemstate...and hoepfully we will see him at shows this fall for our album release.  I miss his musk already.

We'd like to welcome Travis Ballstadt to the Fat Andy crew!  Many of you have seen Travis playing sweet guitar licks with The Nadas and The Heroes...now you can see him behind the kit with us!  Travis has already played one show and will be with us for the foreseeable future as the main drummer boy for FA. So, when you see him at your next show...give him a warm welcome.  Just don't linger on the hugs...that's creepy.

Now, to the nitty gritty...man...I'm winded before I even talk about the FAT ANDY SUMMER TOUR.  OK, maybe not a "tour" but just indulge us.

It kicked off officially when the Nadas boys let us open up for them in Cedar Falls a few weeks ago...but...it really gets rocking with 2 shows this weekend...BACK TO BACK NIGHTS...at The Gardens in Arnolds Park, IA. Yep, summertime in the Iowa Great Lakes...or, as I like to call it, Margaritaville surrounded by cornfields.  We'll go on stage about 9:30 each night for a solid 4 hours of US...who could ask for more.  And if you're in the Lakes for the weekend...SO ARE WE!!!!  Let's hang out!

I could go on, and on, and on, and on...but...I've got to rest for the weekend.  So, for more details on upcoming shows...go to www.fatandyband.com/tour and click on each show for a link.

And, if you have any questions...just shoot us an email at fatandy@fatandyband.com

One love,

The Boys of Fat Andy

We are honored to host the very first DMMC Concert Corps on Jan 24th at the House of Bricks.  We've always admired the Des Moines Music Coalition and all the work they do to help promote local music...so we are very excited to help them out for this event!  We start at 8pm and play until about 11pm...so you have no excuse for not going out on a school night.  HOB is featuring a $3 Bomb Shot special so it will help you forget how damn cold it is outside!!!  We haven't played at HOB for a while but its such a wild venue, we're sure to have a good time!  If you're not able to make it out, we'll be sure to post some pics of all the fun you missed out on!!!!

As most of you know, Fat Andy has been in the studio the last couple of months recording our first album and are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.  The album is tentatively being called Motel Bottle Rocket and should be available on Authentic Records sometime in May.

For those you who can't wait that long, we have posted 3 rough tracks from the studio on our myspace page for everyone to listen to.

Enjoy and see you all soon!!!

I'm gonna cut right to the quick, my friends.  Since we last talked or met...has if been that long?....anyway...Fat Andy has gotten some stuff going for the Fall season...:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

We have plumped up the schedule and have some other news, too...but more on that in a moment...here is what's coming up:

THIS SUNDAY - September 3rd - AK O'Connor's in Beaverdale

Jim and I (Will P if you were wondering) will be playing as part of the Sunday Acoustic Series.  We should start sometime between 7:30 and 8:30 and end...well...we'll just have to see.  In this instance, thanks to all you Laborers out there, Sunday is not your classic "school night".  No cover, but, should be good good times.

FRIDAY - September 14th - AK O'Connor's in West Des Moines - THE BACK ROOM

Several of us were able to preview the new and improved Back Room at AK's in WDM this past week.  It should be a tremendous space and Fat Andy is privileged enough to open up the place!  And not only are we the first band to take the wrapper off the place, it's also KICK OFF to IOWA versus IOWA STATE the following day!  So, prepare to wear your colors and let's just start tailgating that night, shall we?

ROAD TRIP ALERT!!!!!

FRIDAY - September 21st - The Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake - Opening for The Nadas

The boys of Fat Andy are EXTREMELY honored and visibly excited to get this chance.  Not only is it a historic and gorgeous venue, we get to open for our BFF band.

We should be on stage sometime around 9ish, I go believe.  It doesn't matter, really...just plan on getting there early...head to one of the cool lakeside bars...then spend the night with us and The Nadas.  Help us make a good showing and support your Fat Andy friends!  Let's get a caravan together....CONVOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We also have a couple other tentative dates coming up at Peoples in Des Moines and we are trying to get together a trip to Marysville, Missouri.  Not to mention a 2-night layover in Cedar Falls and Independence right here in the great state of Iowa.  Just go to www.myspace.com/fatandyband  or at our home page on www.fatandyband.com for the most current schedules and news.

We are also still recording our yet to be titled album.  Things, as they always seem to with recording, have just taken longer then we though...but...we are going FULL BORE and are extremely excited to get going on a more regular basis with our posse at The Sonic Factory.  We do have put some Video Blogs out on the MySpace page and on www.youtube.com/fatandyband as well.  Keep checking both for updates...I hope to have them every week starting next.

FINALLY...After talking with a LOT of you, I want to assure you that the Fat Andy brand name is alive and kicking and will remain so forevermore.  We were thinking of making some changes, but, I guess we underestimated how many of you actually like us and like what we are now.  So, thanks for the love...it means A LOT.

So, as the great Hank Williams Jr. - "ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FAT-BALL!"  Er...I'm gonna stop there...it almost got a little awkward in here.  Oh, it already has...my bad.

  TOMMORROW NIGHT

AUGUST 2nd

Peoples on Court

3rd Street & Court Avenue

Downtown Des Moines, IA

What is going on!  Hope the summer has treated you well.  Fat Andy is sorry we have been absent from rocking your suburb.  We were busy trying to write songs for the new album, recording the new album, having children, taking lavish vacations to such posh and hidden gem destinations like…uh…Chicago, and all around playing a few private parties.  It's not that we didn't want to invite you…it's just, ya know, the man…we'll blame it on the man.

ANYWAY…we dust ourselves off tomorrow night for our first show at the beautiful new Peoples in Downtown Des Moines right on Court Avenue…now going both ways!

It's part of something they'll do every Thursday night…or many of them, I'm told…called "Under The Covers".  As sexy as that sounds, it will not involve being the cold cuts in a beneath-the-blankets Brian sandwich.  Fat Andy…or Overweight Andrew as a certain Peoples Staffer likes to call us…will be belting out all the covers we know…which is a lot.

However, it doubles as the Post Show for the Authentic Records night down at Simon Estes Ampitheater.  Since the guys were nice enough to advert us in the Blah Blah Blah, here's a recap of what's going down there to start the night off:

Music starts at 7:00 with Towncrier.  Tyler Thompson Band follows at 7:45, Josh Davis Band at 8:30, and then The Nadas play at 9:15.

Then, you head south and west a few blocks to see Fat Andy in action!  I'm too excited to sleep!

See you tomorrow (Thursday August 2nd to be exact) night...I MEAN IT!

With love,

Willy P

Well, it's finally here...the Fat Andy Band is going into the studio to record it's first album!  I know, I know...we've been talking about it for a LONG time at our shows, but that day is today!!!!  Our good friends Tony Bohnenkamp and Jon Locker own a new studio in Des Moines called the Sonic Factory and they have been kind enough to take on the duties of recording us.  Tonight will be the first night of working on the rough tracks and getting comfortable with the studio setting.  We are planning to take pictures and video the entire process so check back frequently to the blog for many more updates.  And we want you input too...we are going to post some of the demos, pictures, and other fun stuff so be sure to leave us some comments!
