After months of continually having people inflate our egos, we have finally gotten some Chet hater-ation.  Yes, it's true.  One sorry soul doesn't like Chet.  Ellen and I have both taken this as a compliment, since we realized who this gent is ... let's just say his movie leaves a lot to be desired (according to Ellen and Mike).  I would really be concerned if he liked it, actually.  But here's a bit of advice for all of you "film critics" out there.  Please WATCH the movie before you criticize it.  You won't get it if you only watch the first 60 seconds and then fast forward to the audition scene (aka, near the end).  You need to know Chet before you can love him.  He's just like a friend in that way.  Speaking of friends, you can be Chet's Friend on myspace.  Perhaps we'll post this bad review soon.  We've been discussing it.  Until next time, peace out.

So, I got a letter from Palm Springs Film Festival late tonight. I am relieved to know the outcome, and somewhat bummed because of the rejection.

However, I would like to acknowledge that I sent out the submission a few days before the early bird deadline (May 12th), and we did not receive a rejection until the day after the deadline for notification! Close but no cigar, I know... however, I believe that the film has been hanging in there until the very end... which to me is amazing for a little low budget film with absolutely no frills (depending on your personal definition of frills for indies).

Anyways, I digress... this business is full of acceptances and even more rejections. Festivals are moody little creatures and the film has to hit all the right buttons at just the right time.

We are also in the running for 4 other festivals at this time, with another handful of submissions coming up, one being a festival we had our goals set upon in the very beginning of this never ending process; Slamdance.

On another Palm Springs related note, apparently we are in some sort of film market in PS. You know what I have to say to that? Meh... Meh... Meh.

Well, we were supposed to hear back from Palm Springs by today but we haven't.  We are taking this as a good sign.  Perhaps we are on the way to our first film festival acceptance?  That would be pretty sweet!  I can't wait to go shmooze it up.  There's nothing I love more than hob-nobbing

Hey Everyone,

Just writing to let you know that Jen Sygit, the fabulous musician featured in our movie, has lots of concerts coming up the next few months.  The next one in Lansing is on the 15th at Magdalena's Teahouse at 8pm.  I highly recommend her shows.  Check out her tour schedule on her myspace page http://myspace.com/jensygit or look at her in our friends section!

Hey Everyone! "Never Odd Or Even" is done and is now on the move through the film festivaling stage. We will be submitting to many film festivals over the next few months. So wish us some luck, and we won't forget to let everyone know where and when we will be screening.

However, the main reason I'm posting is because our lovely website is nearing completion, with possibly a few fixes here and there. I would love to invite all of you to take a look. Let me know if you experience any problems with anything, it would be greatly appreciated.

And if you're on myspace, become our friend

Well, well well... Cannes has in-fact sent us a letter of rejection.

We were all expecting this to happen, but it was worth the shot. After all, "Never Odd Or Even" hung in there as long as it could, making it to the 4 week mark (almost)... that's a whole 2 weeks longer than everyone else!

So anyways, posted below is our rejection, in two languages.

However, this didn't destroy our hope in NOOE. Somewhere out there... there is a place for Chet Marshall, and this amazing little mock film we have all come to love.

To Each His Own,
Ellen @Paperbag Productions

Chet had a really exciting day and needs to fill in all his fans who were wondering how things turned out...

"My speed chess tournament went very well, as I expected. The competition left a lot to be desired. I came in first, as you probably assumed. Ill post some photos when I have more time. "
