Hey there ...

Sorry we've been so quiet of late, but we've been holed up listening to new tunes in sound-proofed rooms while staring at wave files on computer screens and voicing musical opinions loudly.

Yes, the new album is very close to complete - and this is a guarantee because the mastering date is confirmed for the first week of December. Just in time for an early Christmas present - we promise that it will only be a matter of hours after this audio icing is applied to our musical cake before a few slices will be available right here on our page. (That metaphor sucks). Anyway. the complete album will be available on iTunes and spinning round things (remember those?) sometime in early 2009.

But if you live in Melbourne and fancy a preview of some of our new tunes, come on down to Pure Pop Records in Barkly Street, St Kilda this coming Sunday afternoon where we will be sharing the stage with Lionel Lee and Pony Face. We're got the middle spot at 4pm.

Pure Pop is a mighty fine establishment, with classic records, fine coffee and obscure beers on tap - why not join us for a lazy Sunday afternoon?

Kinematic is again part of the musical mecca that is High Vibes. Too many brilliant bands and artists to mention and a late if not sore-headed start on Monday most likely.

Hope to see you there!

Allo there,

It occurred to us to mention that for those of you that prefer facebook we have a kinematic group.

We are not party to any cyber class wars, so you are likely to find out as much here as you will there, but if you, like many, are using facebook more regualry while saving myspace for more musical and/or flippant pursuits, you can drop us a line anytime on by joining the group.

There is also an actual kinematic page on facebook, which sort of materialised via iLike via GarageBand ...amazing thing this fangled interweb - you put yourself in one place and you pop up somewhere else! Only thing is, this page is a little underdone, and updating it has proved complicated - we're not 100% sure how it got there in the first place! (Maybe we should have some sort of  kinenerd LAN party where we we locate and update our multitude of online presences) . Anyway, we only have eight 'fans' on facebook, which makes us look a little pathetic, so if you have a facebook account and like what we do, drop in and become our 'fan'  ... we promise to make your investment of mouse clicks worthwhile once we release the new album. .

Rest assured, however,  that we will never neglect clunky old myspace ...

BTW, album 3 is still on the boil and we're chuffed with how it's turning out ... we even have an album name ... but more on that later.

For our Melbourne friends, we have a Saturday arvo show at the empress weekend after next ... details in our gig guide, but, of course, we'll send you a reminder.

Take care our there, Kinematic , x

hey there!

...for those of you that like the organic side of Kinematic, we've set up a separate unplugged profile at myspace.com/kinematicunplugged. There are some songs on there we haven't made available before, so enjoy ...

... album 3?  ... it goes on .... but we do have some shows in the works after a slight hiatus, including keeping up our habit of playing the NSC twice in a week ...more deets on our page.

'allo All,

Finally - the video for Carnivale. Even though we launched it nearly a month ago, it's taken us awhile to get it up. Blip is a nice little app that makes it easy to embed - so if you like what you see and hear, click the embed/email button close to the bottom left hand side of the player, put it on your profile and/or distribute it widely (pretty please).

A big thanks to producer and director Roslyn Di Sisto for doing such fine work on the vid ... and of course the rest of the many involved in lending us gear, filming, acting, editing, rendering, uploading and the various other tasks  involved in getting the video to this point.

....meanwhile, the recording of album three continues with the mid-August mastering deadline approaching ever-faster. Will keep you posted on developments

Allo all ...

The final chapter of Kinematic’s second album, ’The 38th Parallel’ unfolds at the NSC on the afternoon of Sunday the 20th April, with the release of a stunning new video to the album’s opening track, ’Carnivale’.

Kinematic have just finished tracking their as yet untitled third album, so they will be going into a hiatus from shows until late in the year so they concentrate ..ing the album in time for a spring release.

Close to six months in the making, the video was produced and directed by local film-maker on-the-rise Roslyn Di Sisto whose past work has included videos for The Vedettes and Diafrix ... so come on down to the NSC on April 20 to support the best of local independent film and music making.

In support on the day will be the superlative Major Major, ensuring an afternoon-long treat for your eyes and ears.

Doors open at 3pm, with the music kicking off at 3.30

Hello all, hope you're well? Here's the latest from us...

New Album:
We've been very busy rehearsing new material, 14 new songs in fact!
Pre-production is coming along nicely and we're set to head into the studio on Good Friday for ten days of solid recording. It's been a while since we've recorded an album, we're looking forward to it! We'll post some studio session pics once things get rolling.

Carnivale Music Video Launch:
We have an uncomfirmed date for the Carnivale video launch; at the Nothcote Social Club on Sunday, April 20th... it will most likely be an afternoon show.

TV:
Gordo and Mike made an appearance on Channel 31's 1700 music show, a couple of acoustic numbers were performed along with a short interview. If we can get our hands on the tape, we'll see about uploading it.

Thanks for listening,
K

Allo all ...how's your 2008 faring?

Kinematic have a gig.

Once again, we will brave loading our gear through drunkard festival stumblers, this time to play on a little stage in a little courtyard behind a little record store in St Kilda ...MY GOD! IT'S SOUTH OF THE RIVER!!!

In case you haven't heard, the St Kilda Festival is this Sunday Feb 10. We're playing at Pure Pop Records, 221 Barkly Street, at 7pm.

We're the last band of the evening, but their are plenty of superlative performers on before us, including Andrew McCubbin and the Hope Addicts.

If you're planning on going to the festival, come down and have a beer or three with us.

We'll be playing at The Baha bar in Rye On Saturday 29th, December... the night kicks off at about 9pm, it won't cost you a cent, and we're doing two sets. So if you're down that way, please pop in for some tapas and tunes.

Album 3 looks like it will be recorded in March, at the moment we're aiming to do 14 songs. If all goes to plan, we should have a new album out sometime late next year...
