Ahoy Mateys!

Welcome to the second installment of the Pirate Rock Gazette, a newsletter regarding all things Dannicus Live. We have some exciting news to share, so read on ye scurvy dogs and Dirty Pirate Hookers!

BAND NEWS:

As many of you know, Wanda and I just recently returned from ..Scotland.. and ....Ireland.... where we had an absolutely amazing time.  We drank, saw the sites, drank, heard some killer music, drank, and I played in several pubs with musicians who were gracious enough to invite me to play.  Everyone seemed to really enjoy it, and the Pussy Song is now a huge hit overseas!  I thought they would never stop laughing.  It seems everyone everywhere, both guys and gals, love PUSSY!

Lonnie our old drummer decided to move on, and we wish him the best.  We all hope he finds what he is looking for.  Meanwhile, we now have a new drummer in the band named Brent. He is doing really well.  He has learned over 50 songs in less than 2 weeks and we are really excited to have him with us!  He’ll play his first show with the band at Gallagher’s in ..OB.. on Oct. 17th.  Brent is a personal trainer in his day job, so we talked him into playing his first show topless for the Dirty Pirate Hooker’s entertainment.  Have fun girls!

IN THE NEWS:

Dannicus Live was the most downloaded artist for the month of July at the San Diego Reader.  The article came out and was really great.  I hope you got a chance to pick up a copy of the rag and read the article.  Both Whiskey Down and Sirens continue to remain in the top 25 most downloaded songs at the Reader with Whiskey Down holding it’s own in the top 25 spot for an amazing 29 consecutive weeks.

ON THE AIRWAVES:

I received a message from UCLA Radio for permission to continue to allow several songs to play on their Indie Artist play list for their station.  They have stated that several of our songs are regularly requested and seem to be a party favorite.

Black Pint Radio plays our music quite a bit along with some really cool Irish Rock and Punk.  Tune in and let us know what you think.  http://www.live365.com/stations/blackpintradio

IN THE STORES:

Dannicus Live’s Liquor and Whores is now being carried by almost all large internet stores including iTunes, Amazon, Emusic, Lime Wire, Napster and others.  It is very cool to see our albums not only selling in the ....US...., but overseas as well.  We have seen an upswing in sales in October in both the ..UK.. and ....Japan.....  Really exciting for us!

IN THE STUDIO:

We have put our studio work on temporary hold focusing instead on helping Brent get integrated into the band and our music.  When we do get back to it we have several new songs to lay down that I know you will really love.  We are also contemplating Dannicusizing some of the great songs that Wanda and I learned in ....Ireland...., and including them on the next album.  We are really excited about getting back to it as soon as possible.

AROUND TOWN:

We’ll be once again playing one of our favorite places; Gallagher’s in ..OB.., on Oct 17th.  There will be no cover for this our first show with Brent. Our annual Halloween bash will be played at the El Cajon VFW on Saturday the 31st.  Halloween and ..St... Paddy’s Day continue to be our favorite shows of the year.  This year we expect the party to end all parties, with great prize money for costumes.  Just wait till you see what the band has in store for you this year.  Can you guess?  This one is gonna be a BLAST!

Well that’s about it for now.  See you crazy party people soon at a show!

Thanks and AAAAAAARGH!

Hi all,

Our show at Gallagher's on Saturday October 17th is coming soon.  Gallagher's charges no cover when we play, but business has been slow in current economic times even for a place as cool and Gallaghers.  Please come out for this one and help us ensure that we can continue to book gigs there.

I promised them at least 75 DL fans would attend.   PLEASE COME!  We need your support and Gallaghers ROCKS!  It's also Brent's first show with the band.

Hope to see you there!

Hi Friends,

I thought I'd answer all of your questions at once.  Yes, it's ture Lonnie is no longer in the band.  Lonnie informed me that he needed to take an evening job, and that he would not be able to play the shows we already had booked this month.  This obviously left us in quite a predicament.  On the up side, we have already replaced him with a new drummer named Brent, and you are going to love him.  Personally I want to wish Lonnie all the best.

Brent is kicking ASS!  he has already learned many of our songs, and fits in brilliantly.  I think once he learns all the breaks and pauses in the songs he'll be absolutely fantastic!  He's really committed and has a lot of skill.  He will be playing his first show at Gallagher's on the 17th with us.  I hope you'll come out and show your support.

As always, our goal is to make sure you all have a BLAST, and we don't plan on missing a beat!

Love Ya!

It seems we have even more to celebrate at this Saturday's show!  Huzzah to our very own Sir Patrick O'Malley for winning Crown.  Come to the show this and help us celebrate with he and his lovely lady Princess Kara

They are planning to be there and so should you!  Don't forget to bring a can of food for the Heros for Hunger food drive with Eben Brooks.

See you all there!

Please consider coming to the show at the El Cajon VFW next Saturday the 29th for a couple of very good reasons.  It's going to be a while till our next show because we'll be away in Scotland and Ireland.  We need to get at least 100 people through the door for the VFW to break even on the night, but with $2 beers it is our way (and the VFW's) to say thanks to all of you!

Also, we will be working in association with Eben Brooks (a really great local musician) who will be playing a few songs with us, you're going to love him!.  He heads up a program called "Heros against Hunger"  We would like to encourage all of you to bring a can of food, or a couple of bucks to put in the coffer to help the needy in San Diego.  We are proud to be a part of this excellent program and work with Eben.

Please come out and see us off to Ireland!  Remember the VFW is a cash bar so bring cash.

Love ya!

Ahoy Mateys!

Welcome to the first installment of the Pirate Rock Gazette, a newsletter regarding all things Dannicus Live.  Some really exciting things have been happening with the band so I thought I’d blog ‘em for you in Facebook notes.

IN THE NEWS:

Dannicus Live was the most downloaded artist for the month of July at the San Diego Reader.  I did an interview with Rosa Jurjevics talking about the song “Sirens”.  The article should appear in this weeks Reader.  I’ll post a link when the article is published.

ON THE AIRWAVES:

Dan, Jamie and Wanda played live on 2Ply Radio on Tuesday August 11.  Mikey and Lonnie couldn’t make it so we played a handful of Irish drinking songs unplugged.  Josh and Damion have a weekly show called “Lessons From the Bottom of a Bottle”.  It airs Tuesdays at 7pm.  You should all tune in.  For our part we all got good and drunk and had a blast.  Thanks to all of you who tuned in.  I was told it was their largest audience since starting the show.

Revenge of the Particle is a long term very popular streaming radio show based in ....New York.....  They have played the song Terror at Sea on several occasions and received great feedback.  They have asked me to send them several more songs.  Revenge of the particle is a perfect match for us.  They are like an uncensored version of Dr, Demento.  I’ll keep you posted regarding when the show is airing.

Black Pint Radio is an Internet radio station that plays our music quite frequently.  They also play some killer Irish Punk Rock and other drinking music.  We have numerous fans who listen to Black Pint on a regular basis.  Tune in and let us know what you think.  http://www.live365.com/stations/blackpintradio

IN THE STORES:

Our album Liquor and Whores has been picked up for distribution internationally by Amazon, Napster, and Lala.  It has also been picked up by iTunes ..USA.., ..Canada.., ..Australia.., ..Japan.. and the ....UK.... and should be available for downloads in the next few weeks.  It is pending on a number of other sites including Rhapsody, Limewire, Shockhound eMusic and IMEEM.  This is really exciting because it makes our music available to lots of people who might not have otherwise heard us.

IN THE STUDIO:

We have been back in the studio recording songs for the new album.  So far we have finished Sirens, and started work on Captain My Captain, and Captain Mayhem.  Other songs we are planning to include are Donald Macgillivray, The Old Woman From Bellfast, and several others we plan on surprising you with.

AROUND TOWN:

We have several gigs coming up that we are really excited about.  The next one is at the VFW in ....El Cajon.....  Our friends there have really gone out of their way for us and re really love playing for you there.  The drink prices are incredible.  The show is on Aug 29th at 9pm.  We need to get at least 100 people through the door for the VFW to hit their break even point, so please come to this one. Other upcoming shows include our Halloween Spectacular (not to be missed as previous attendees will attest) and our gangster themed New Years Eve show with Ghislane and Ryan.  As always we’ll send you invites as we book ‘em.

WITH THE BAND:

The Dannicus Live Shaggin Wagon continues to turn heads around town.  It’s not only a blast to drive, but is a great way to carry all of our equipment and advertise the band locally.  Write us and let us know when you see it and where.  We have added some new guitars to the band to improve our sound and add some new dimensions to the music.  The first is an orange Gretsch 6120 Chet Atkins model.  It is a great looking, playing and sounding axe and should add some real diversity to our signature sound.  The second is a really nice Takamine 12 string acoustic electric.  I think it is going to sound great on songs like Forest Deep and Green Fields of France.  We’ll be debuting both instruments at our VFW show on the 29th.

Well that’s about it.  I’ll send you all pictures from ..Scotland.. and ....Ireland.....  We’ll be there September 5th through the 20th, drinking, carousing, and playing Irish music to our hearts content in some of the greatest pubs in the world.

Thanks and AAAAAAARGH!

The VFW is hosting another Fan Appreciation Show.

They have once again cut the beer and drink prices to almost no profit margine just to say thank you for all of your support of the VFW and Dannicus Live.

Bearing this in mind, we need at least 100 people through the door to ensure that the VFW breaks even, so please don't miss this one. There is a $5 cover just to offset their cost for the night.

Remember, the VFW is a cash only bar.

This will likey be our last show for a couple of months as Wanda and I will be gone most of September, so I sure hope to see you all there.
