Ahoy Mateys!
Welcome to the first installment of the Pirate Rock Gazette, a newsletter regarding all things Dannicus Live. Some really exciting things have been happening with the band so I thought I’d blog ‘em for you in Facebook notes.
IN THE NEWS:
Dannicus Live was the most downloaded artist for the month of July at the San Diego Reader. I did an interview with Rosa Jurjevics talking about the song “Sirens”. The article should appear in this weeks Reader. I’ll post a link when the article is published.
ON THE AIRWAVES:
Dan, Jamie and Wanda played live on 2Ply Radio on Tuesday August 11. Mikey and Lonnie couldn’t make it so we played a handful of Irish drinking songs unplugged. Josh and Damion have a weekly show called “Lessons From the Bottom of a Bottle”. It airs Tuesdays at 7pm. You should all tune in. For our part we all got good and drunk and had a blast. Thanks to all of you who tuned in. I was told it was their largest audience since starting the show.
Revenge of the Particle is a long term very popular streaming radio show based in ....New York..... They have played the song Terror at Sea on several occasions and received great feedback. They have asked me to send them several more songs. Revenge of the particle is a perfect match for us. They are like an uncensored version of Dr, Demento. I’ll keep you posted regarding when the show is airing.
Black Pint Radio is an Internet radio station that plays our music quite frequently. They also play some killer Irish Punk Rock and other drinking music. We have numerous fans who listen to Black Pint on a regular basis. Tune in and let us know what you think. http://www.live365.com/stations/blackpintradio
IN THE STORES:
Our album Liquor and Whores has been picked up for distribution internationally by Amazon, Napster, and Lala. It has also been picked up by iTunes ..USA.., ..Canada.., ..Australia.., ..Japan.. and the ....UK.... and should be available for downloads in the next few weeks. It is pending on a number of other sites including Rhapsody, Limewire, Shockhound eMusic and IMEEM. This is really exciting because it makes our music available to lots of people who might not have otherwise heard us.
IN THE STUDIO:
We have been back in the studio recording songs for the new album. So far we have finished Sirens, and started work on Captain My Captain, and Captain Mayhem. Other songs we are planning to include are Donald Macgillivray, The Old Woman From Bellfast, and several others we plan on surprising you with.
AROUND TOWN:
We have several gigs coming up that we are really excited about. The next one is at the VFW in ....El Cajon..... Our friends there have really gone out of their way for us and re really love playing for you there. The drink prices are incredible. The show is on Aug 29th at 9pm. We need to get at least 100 people through the door for the VFW to hit their break even point, so please come to this one. Other upcoming shows include our Halloween Spectacular (not to be missed as previous attendees will attest) and our gangster themed New Years Eve show with Ghislane and Ryan. As always we’ll send you invites as we book ‘em.
WITH THE BAND:
The Dannicus Live Shaggin Wagon continues to turn heads around town. It’s not only a blast to drive, but is a great way to carry all of our equipment and advertise the band locally. Write us and let us know when you see it and where. We have added some new guitars to the band to improve our sound and add some new dimensions to the music. The first is an orange Gretsch 6120 Chet Atkins model. It is a great looking, playing and sounding axe and should add some real diversity to our signature sound. The second is a really nice Takamine 12 string acoustic electric. I think it is going to sound great on songs like Forest Deep and Green Fields of France. We’ll be debuting both instruments at our VFW show on the 29th.
Well that’s about it. I’ll send you all pictures from ..Scotland.. and ....Ireland..... We’ll be there September 5th through the 20th, drinking, carousing, and playing Irish music to our hearts content in some of the greatest pubs in the world.
Thanks and AAAAAAARGH!
