Current mood:  handsome

Beeb Ashcroft from Indie-music.com

We Will Not Fade is a haunting, melodic collection of ballads from singer-songwriter Jenn Taranto. This five-song EP has a full, rich sound, with good composition and heartfelt lyrics. Blending folk influences with classical elements, Taranto demonstrates a flair for evocative music - the opening track, "No Other Way," is pretty and very atmospheric. "Crawling Up" is moody and introspective, with a lovely string accompaniment. "Would It Be Alright" is another powerful cut, and my personal favorite. Her voice is so charmingly ethereal that she even makes the line "It's a drag, what the F**k?" sound angelic. I also love the drum part in this song. Taranto notes that this was her first time using drums in her music, but you wouldn't think that by listening to it.

The wonderful string work continues on the melancholy "Let's Pretend" and the dreamy "Quick Heal." I must say, I am impressed that this is her first time ever arranging string pieces. It sounds fantastic, and really lends a beautiful touch to her thoughtful - and often sad - music. The poetry that runs through these quiet songs lends an almost meditative feeling to the CD.

Overall, I thought this EP was well-done, with a gorgeous soundscape. Taranto obviously worked hard on this creation, which is uniquely her own. So if you're in the mood for ballads of almost cinematic proportions, this is certainly a disc you should spin.

Co-Produced by Chris Zembower of the Everyday Visuals, Jenn Taranto's latest has the warm vibe of a late night music/lovemaking session by candlelight with a fine bottle of wine and a plate of strawberries.  The music is honest and tuneful, with arrangements and nuances that will tug at your very soul and make you feel.  The string and percussion arrangements are lush, yet unassuming.  They don't call attention to themselves, yet punctuate the feeling and the vibe of the music so perfectly, which I find somewhat rare in a Boston/New York produced indie album.  This album is simply delicious. Perfect.   .. --> COMMENT- 2 br tags between all paragraphs -->

So this is it, Im leaving for my California tour tomorrow!!!

I have a week of shows in SF and then a week of shows in Southern California (mostly the LA area). Katie my violinist will be coming on July 18 and Karina who sings harmonies with us will be in LA on the 22. Since this is going to be our first time out there, we could really use all the help we can get in terms of telling people about our shows. So if you have friends around San Francisco and LA and also San Diego, please please please let them know were coming:) I attached a list of my shows on the bottom and they are also on my website. www.jenntaranto.com

Jenn
