Pit bulls - the real story
Pit bulls - facts and fiction

All about pit bulls, breed bans, plus background on Best Friends and the Vicktory dogs. By Faith Maloney Photo by Molly WaldPeople who don't know much about pit bulls can easily be led to assume that they are all killers. That's not surprising, considering all the lurid stories you see on TV and in the news. But the truth is much more complicated. Have some pits and pit mixes done bad things? Yes. But there are also dangerous golden retrievers, biting Labradors, chows, and Dalmatians to name but a few – and these are dogs most people don't think are bad. Any large dog who's been abused or driven to hurt people by an irresponsible person can be a danger. Singling out any breed is akin to racial profiling of people, and it's just as misleading and plain wrong. There are good and bad people in all creeds, colors and backgrounds. Same goes for dogs – of all kinds. But few people know enough about dogs to make the right distinctions, and can be easily persuaded that all dogs of a certain breed or type are bad. In these articles, you can discover why pit bulls and pit bull mixes are in trouble at this time, and check out the testimonies of real people about their dogs. You'll see why banning a particular breed will not make any difference to the real issue of irresponsible and just plain bad people. If pit bulls are banned then another breed will take their place and the cycle will continue. By learning about the true nature of these dogs we can stop blaming them for being bad and point to the real problem – the people who perpetuate a culture of violence towards people as well as these dogs. * * * * * For behind-the-scenes about the Vicktory Dogs go to the Best Friends Blog. For all the latest on the Vicktory Dogs go here. Meet some of the Best Friends pit bulls, including the Vicktory Dogs, here.

I will never be the woman with the perfect hair, who can wear white and not spill on it.
Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous.
I love you, but I love myself more.
oh yeah, and i can't find the one quote, but i loveeeee the "break up rule" about destroying pictures where he looks sexy & you look happy......

It's been over a year since I posted a new blog. Kinda crazy. So obviously anyone who knows me, knows I would gladly execute Michael Vick myself...
I have an old blog about pitbull discrimination & abuse, but here's another.
Check out these links.... See the *vicious* animals in truth. http://gprime.net/flash.php/thepitbullproblem http://www.pitbull.us/ http://www.pitbull.us/861analysis.htm http://www.sorryagain.com/ http://www.pitbull.us/factsmyths.html
Also... great website for this is www.pitbullgear.com I already ordered my shirt that says "LOSERS FIGHTS PITBULLS"
And check out PETA's website while you're at it. They've got a couple petitions and other things you can do, to really DO something, instead of get hyped but not take action. Action's the key here. Few people support vicious, heinous crimes. Many speak among their friends that it's terrible. But not enough take the time to sign a petition, or send a letter. Someone has to do it,because these animals can't speak up for themselves. Give them a voice---get involved.

I know plenty of guys out there morally oppose Sex & the City. But you know what? Too bad. Those are the kind of guys that make women sit around quoting Sex & the City. So read it & deal... Or don't. I'm really just venting.
Can you really forgive if you cant forget?
I'm looking for love. Real love. Ridiculous, inconvenient, consuming, can't-live-without-each-other love.
You shouldn't have to sacrifice who you are just because somebody else has a problem with it.
[A performance artist is starving herself and refusing to speak while on public display.] Aleksandr: You don't think it's significant? Carrie: Oh please! There are depressed women all over New York doing the exact same thing as her and not calling it art. I mean, if you put a phone up on that platform, it's just a typical Friday night waiting for some guy to call.
I had gone so far out on a limb with my feelings .. that I didn't realize I was standing out there alone.
When men attempt bold gestures, generally it's considered romantic. When women do it, it's often considered desperate or psychotic.
I will not be the first one to speak. And if he never calls me again, I'll always think of him fondly. As an asshole.
Maybe we just obsess over relationships that feel un-finished.
The End.

So here's the deal... I may not be the sick kid for too much longer. I finally found a doctor who thinks he can make me better--up to 20e said!!! For those of you that are unaware, this is literally the first time since I've been diagnosed that there's been REAL hope.
He has these theories on my conditions: Neurally Mediated Hypotension (NMH) and Chronic Fatigue and Immue Dysfunction Syndrome (CFIDS). He thinks there's a correalation between people with both of those conditions and an allergy to Cow's Milk Protein.
Pretty much, if this is right, for the rest of my life I can't eat anything with milk in it. This is going to be very hard for me, because no more pizza, chicken parm, or chocolate milkshakes. But it also means for the first time in my life I may be healthy!
This doctor is from John's Hopkins---that itself is scary to me, that I'm going to be a Hopkins patient. However, he is one of the leading specialists with NMH and CFIDS so he knows what he's talking about.
His theory on the allergy thing makes a lot of sense with me specifically. I'm not going to go into it all, but basically, his logic for everything fits perfectly with illnesses and complications I've had my ENTIRE life.
Also--I haven't really drank for almost two months now, and I'm going to stick with that because of this newfound hope in being healthy. Because of my health issues I wasn't supposed to drink at all. I tried that and it didn't make a difference with my health. Plus the doctors had nothing to offer me, so I pretty much said "Fuck that!" and went back to drinking. Anyways, since there's actually a chance now for me to get better, I'm going to do everything I can to make that happen. And every piece of literature says drinking is extra bad for what I have, so I'm avoiding that... Just like I now have to avoid all my favorite foods.
Anyways, this really is the first time I've had a reason to believe that I can get better. So I figured in all actuality, this is one of the most important things that I could personally write about. I definitely believe that yesterday--04-05-06--may be the start of a great change in my life.

I just read a bulletin from a friend about Senate Bill 861, concerning breed discrimination for dogs. I had to look into it more and learn the specifics. I've heard so many things over the years about breed discrimination, and as the proud compnaion of a Pit Bull and a Rottweiler, this is personal. These are my dogs:

I learned that SB 861 was passed in 2005, ammending California's "no breed discrimination" law. In short, it is written so vaguely that it allows for discrimination of "vicious" or "potentially dangerous" dogs. Few guidelines are taken to protect dogs, and this allows for blanket discrimination of any and all breeds, with little justification as to why.

California is supposed to be one of the most progressive states in our country. If Californians will allows for this kind of law to pass, there's no telling what could happen in more conservative areas. But the bottom line is breed discrimination is the equivalent of racial discrimination in people--it's illogical, it's a prejudice and it's bullshit.

Other states or districts have based detailed breed specific legislation (BSL) against these breeds: * American Pit Bull Terriers * American Staffordshire Terriers * Staffordshire Bull Terriers * Rottweilers * American Bulldogs * German Shepherds * Alaskan Malamutes * Great Danes * Chow-Chows * Dobermans * Akitas * Huskies *

This is a scary thing---the animals can't fight in themselves, but they are so worthy of being fought for. It's happening all over, slowly but surely, labeled breeds are being euthanized, muzzled, banned... I've got a Pit Bull & a Rottie and they're part of our family. We used to have a German Shepard too. We rescued both the pit and shepard from abusive homes and lifestyles. I know firsthand, it's not the breed, it's the raising of these wonderful dogs. Don't let these laws or bans go by unnoticed. Pay attention and help save these loving breeds.....

here's a fav song and a few quotes. there's a unified topic to this blog: respect. no real rambling from me here; just think about it---respect. do you give it? have you earned it? do you think about it? respect. what's it mean? what's the point? i think it means a lot. i think it's worth thinking about. i sure as hell think you have to earn it. and i sure as hell want it from others.
one of me & sara's FAVORITE songs. this is what it's all about. you gotta have a man you can respect.
Jagged Edge: "no respect"
I respect a man raisin his kids all on his own I respect a man who makes sure he takes care of home You gotta respect a man with good judgement Cuz I'll be damned if someones takin care of my kids And I respect a man who treats his woman like a queen I know you're not perfect you ain't gotta be so mean No matter how strong she is for a woman A man should never attempt to lay his hands on her
Bridge: There's more to life than what happens an your block Just treat your women right and hold em at the top Gotta raise these kids and teach em, never don't ya stop You ain't no man to me if you let your family starve
Chorus: Got no respect for them dudes who hit they women and Got no respect for the fools who leave they children and I just wanna take care of my family Got no respect if you ain't trying to do the right thing
Got no respect for them dudes who hit they women and Got no respect for the fools who leave they children and I just wanna take care of my family Got no respect if you ain't trying to do the right thing
I respect the type of girl that tries to love a man With many flaws and broken laws but still he stands The kinda girl who turns a boy into a man The kinda girl who turns a flop into a plan No respect for those who walk through life just askin you What you can do for them but still they hate on you It don't take no man to make that baby But yes it takes a man to raise that baby
Fellas we gotta make a change In the way that we treat our women and our children yes we do Hope thats there's a better day Put your hands to the sky If you want a change, need a change See all that you know it don't really mean a thing If you cant show some love to the ones connected by your blood Cuz in the end all that matters is your wife and your kids
Chorus: Got no respect for them dudes who hit they women and Got no respect for the fools who leave they children and I just wanna take care of my family Got no respect if you ain't trying to do the right thing

So this was a bulletin forwarded thing. And I found it interesting to do, but not interesting enough to tell everyone my answers unless they really cared.
And FYI--i don't have a top 24, so some of these answers may be difficult using only my top8
Pick two guys/girls that are "marriage" material on your TOP 8-24 and tell us why
mike because his nickname is hubby, and he calls me his wifey
and charlie because he always says "marry me" and it sounds like a good idea
Besides your relatives, pick 2 guys/girls you would leave your will with on your TOP 8- 24 when you die, and tell us why
kenz cuz she's so organized and responsible and might actually listen to what i want
and steph cuz she knows me so well that i know she'd respect my wishes too
If you had to pick 2 guys/girls off of your TOP 8-24 JUST to have sex with...who would they be and tell us why
mike cuz he's my fav
&charlie cuz he'd bite
If you were stranded on an island with no survival skills but there was a nightclub there, pick 2 girls/guys you would bring along and tell us why
steph & sara no doubt.... those are my party bitches
If the human race was do die off tomorrow and only a few survived besides you....name 2 off of your TOP 8-24 who u would want to start HUMANITY with all over again and tell us why (p.s.- one of those people has to be of the opposite sex)
kenz because again her organizational skills are the best and she'd have a good sense of order and she'd balance my soullness... and she can sing and i like music...
and mike cuz we'd have beauiful children to start over with, and his "nice guy" morals would balance my free-spirited individualistic beliefs. plus he's gonna be a history teacher, so that's good for starting fresh...

First off, I wanna say Happy New Years & see if anyone made any good resolutions, cuz I sure as hell didn't. But if you did, I'm curious...
Well, I'm now home from my December travels... I had an amazing trip to California , and then cross country drive with Matt and his buddy Cass. I definitely got to see the country, which rocked my world. But I don't recommend doing that trip in December. From an hour outside of LA all the way til we got to freaking Illinois we were in sub-freezing temperatures. I actually experienced -10degrees outside. Shortly after I was in a hot spring in Ouray, CO (an awesome small tourist town where I bought a cowboy hat!) so it was a decent trade-off. I saw the sunrise over the Grand Canyon, yes a cliche stop, but a gorgeous worthwhile one. Also there I nearly froze my toes off, and sadly that is NO exxaggeration.
Christmas at home... woohoo... Day after Christmas I went out to Chicago to spend a week with Wes and his family and his friends, who quickly became my friends too. I got to see their new condo in downtown, across from Millenium Park. We saw Wicked, the musical which was nothing short of incredible. New Years Eve we were downtown at the Wave and got to see the fireworks over Navy Pier. All good times, mixed with some rockin parties with his crew.
Now I'm here at home, my parents house. Taking winter term at SU got cancelled. After all my travels I decided I'm ready for my vacation, meaning genuine downtime , before school starts up again. Back the bury January 30 though. Not too far away... But for now, I'm here in HoCo chillin with my fam, my tephy, and all that jazz....
