To: California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger

I, myself, and many Californians I know are disgusted with the hatred that the passing of proposition 8 brought. I am asking you to read this over, THE FACTS, not the propaganda. Open your mind for a minute, and realize that this is terrible for future generations as well. How do you know that your future children or grandchildren won't come to you and tell you they are homosexual? Wouldn't you want your child to live a life in which the love they found was supported? Plain and simple, if you are an American, you should believe in preserving the constitution. Proposition 8's passing took away the 14th amendment for a group of people, and I would like to give it back.

Facts v. Fiction
Proposition 8 would eliminate fundamental rights for a group of Californians. It's unfair and it's wrong.

Fiction: Prop 8 doesn't discriminate against gay people.
Fact: Prop 8 is simple: it eliminates the rights for same-sex couples to marry. Prop 8 would deny equal protections and write discrimination against one group of people—lesbian and gay people—into our state constitution.

Fiction: Teaching children about same-sex marriage will happen here unless we pass Prop 8.
Fact: Not one word in Prop 8 mentions education. And no child can be forced, against the will of their parents, to be taught anything about health and family issues at school. California law prohibits it.
California's top educators including Superintendent of Schools Jack O'Connell and California Teachers all agree: Prop 8 has nothing to do with education.

Fiction: Churches could lose their tax-exemption status.
Fact: The court decision regarding marriage specifically says "no religion will be required to change its religious policies or practices with regard to same-sex couples, and no religious officiant will be required to solemnize a marriage in contravention of his or her religious beliefs."

Fiction: A Massachusetts case about a parent's objection to the school curriculum will happen here.
Fact: California gives parents an absolute right to remove their kids and opt-out of teaching on health and family instruction they don't agree with. The opponents know that California law already covers this and Prop 8 won't affect it, so they bring up an irrelevant case in Massachusetts.

Fiction: Four Activist Judges in San Francisco…
Fact: Prop 8 is about eliminating a fundamental right. Judges didn't grant the right, the constitution guarantees the right. Proponents of Prop 8 use an outdated and stale argument that judges aren't supposed to protect rights and freedoms. Prop 8 is about whether Californians are willing to amend the constitution for the sole purpose of eliminating a fundamental right for one group of citizens.

Fiction: If Prop 8 isn't passed, people can be sued over personal beliefs.
Fact: California's laws already prohibit discrimination against anyone based on race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. This has nothing to do with marriage.

Fiction: Pepperdine University supports the Yes on 8 campaign.
Fact: The University has publicly disassociated itself from Professor Richard Peterson of Pepperdine University, who is featured in the ad, and has asked to not be identified in the Yes on 8 advertisements.

Fiction: Unless Prop 8 passes, California parents won't have the right to object to what their children are taught in school.
Fact: California law clearly gives parents and guardians broad authority to remove their children from any health instruction if it conflicts with their religious beliefs or moral convictions.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned

Okay, since I'm terrible at updating this thing, I'm going to try and at least post one photo from every gig or at least any city we play in. I'm starting with Salt Lake City, which we played in last week. I'll post a new gallery for these, for anyone who cares! :-)

UPDATE: TOO BUSY TO GET THIS DONE! SOMEDAY!

Current mood:  contemplative
I'm trying to start a blog one one of those blog sites, but I'm slow moving on it, so I'll start here.

I figure noone knows where the hell I am and if I'm around or not, so I figure at the least, I can use the blog to let people know where I am, or when I AM home, and what I'm up to.

Also, to post my apologies to the friends I adore that I never see, because we travel so much and are so crazy busy always. I miss you people!

So per my idea - I'm back in San Francisco! Got in LATE from NYC last night... Adrian's not even home yet - he's in Houston doing the Jameson gig with Smash-Up Derby. Hopefully he'll eat some good yummy tex-mex while he's there!

I'm back in town for all this week, next weekend and half the next week. I'm pretty slammed busy, but I'm hoping to get a little time to do something fun, even just go out to dinner soon.

Bootie NYC went really great... pix here: Bootie NYC - Going.com Photos and next month is our 1 year Anniversary of doing our Bootie party in NYC. Bootie LA was so awesome last time (550 people?!!), i can't wait till next time... Yay for moving back to the Echo!

This weekend, on Saturday, we'll be doing our last mini-Bootie at Pop Roxx, since Bootie SF goes twice a month starting in February. We're gonna try to really make it a blast, since it's our last time. We still may DJ at Pop Roxx, but do a main floor set, in the future.

OH and last - we're booking a mini-Europe tour! The dates are late April thru the first weekend of May. Get in touch if you are in Europe and you happen to see this and interested in booking us! We're doing Bootie Munich and Paris and a gig in Berlin so far....a couple other possible gig ideas on the agenda.

Other than work, everything is good, cats are fine, Adrian is good, life is good. I just feel alot of guilt that it takes me weeks to respond to emails (and sometimes phone calls) now, and that i'm rarely around unless I'm doing an event.

I am happy today though - cuz it feels SOOOOOOO good to be home, although this apartment is FREEZING and a mess.

Back to work for me! I need coffee...

I know this is ridiculously late...but to whoever put the various candy, money, pirate candy bar, and bubble bath in my stocking at the Bootie Holiday party this year, THANK YOU. It was very sweet. I'm just now going through things from over a month ago... it's true, but fortunately none of the above goes bad, so I intend to enjoy it!

Thank you 'secret Santas' at Bootie SF in December!

Bootie Paris is going strong, and the first Bootie Munich went off - it's officially a monthly.

Just to talk about something else.... i watch bad tv when i need to zone out. I work on these clubs constantly, almost no time for friends anymore.. I miss them.

But this career kicks ass and brings lots of excitement and fun (in and around the headaches) so i can't really complain!

I miss my parents to, I haven't seen them as much since Bootie got bigger, and bigger...and... so on.

But who doesn't like big booties? :-)

I started going back to the gym..yay me.

I guess that's it. I suck at blogs. I guess I'll stay "Mysterious" D.

Current mood:  accomplished
I never post blogs, but it's nice to shake things up once in a while, right?

Lots of exciting things in store soon.. excited about the WiiJ premiere, Bootie LA's move to Safari Sam's, and NYC's next Bootie on May 18th - which will be the start of it being a monthly party in New York.

Yes, as of this month, I become BI-coastal and TRI-city! Going to LA every month has been a blast, and adding NYC every month should make for one helluva crazy schedule - but is also pretty exciting. It helps that we have best friends in both LA and NYC, and now it seems I see those friends more than some of San Francisco friends lately! We stay with them when we're in town, so friend time gets built in, which has been awesome.

We've lots of gigs and trips upcoming, and some pretty neat stuff. And just more and more ideas and plans...

The pressure and exhaustion from all this can be intense, but if I can get through the rough moments, the rest is all just thrilling and just really fun.

Okay, the (not so) Mysterious D signing off. :-)
