Current mood:  blessed

Wow, so all of you who didn't make it out to last night's show really REALLY missed out.  Quest for the Crown (round 3) premiered at Bacchus House, and I must say, I am so incredibly impressed with the contenders.  This is going to be a high-quality, intense race to the finish that is sure to bring us some unforgettable, landmark performances.

We have nine contestants vying for first place, and I will be updating the kings site with contestant names/links/pictures/info this time around so you can get to know them as the contest progresses. (oh yeah, and I will make a sincere attempt to update thisspace that is ourspace but called myspace as well).

I just got the disc of photos from our Pride performances and was so enchanted that I've decided to hire the photographer to document the contest this year.  Absolutely breathtaking is the best description I can give you.

But really, last night was rockin'.  This is gonna be a wild ride - so come on out to Bacchus House next Tuesday. The fun begins at 10pm, the theme is Male Icons and Idols.  Hope to see you there.

Current mood:  determined

Dearest All,

I despise murdoch and all his fascist propagandist crew of rovianites.  Which is why, of course, I do not check this accout, or update it. Ever.  I cringed when I created it.  I held my nose, closed my eyes, and clicked okay.

I have much more fun (and less guilt) logging into Daily Kos, creating my account at Pam's House Blend, and checking My DD every week this year... oh and I can't forget Baghdad Burning, Days of my life (hi Sunshine!), AmericaBlog, TalkingPointsMemo, and even (gasp!) Wonkette.

To all those who have happened upon our small window into the myspace dystopia:  We appreciate your attention and your appreciation and even your hate mail. :-)  And kisses, of course.

If you ever want to know what's happening in the king world of ours, please check our website at www.sdkingsclub.com.  Or email me at frontera8 at hotmail dot com.

This will be the last time I personally check this account.

Hope to see you Tuesday!

Thank you, and good night,

El Pachuco

OUTRAGE!!!! OUTRAGE!!!!
I was perusing the latest issue of the GLBT Times and I came across their editorial about the Center being "white washed". The editorial exposes the ways in which the Center has become increasingly "conservative" in what it chooses to host and endorse. Ooh, surprise, surprise. But THEN, I came across this paragraph:

Mixing our communitys rapidly changing demographic with its history rooted in freedom of sexual expression is no easy task. San Diego Pride, for example, has decided that youth 17 years old and younger who want to enter the Pride festival at Marston Point this summer will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

I had to re-read it a couple times to make sure. WHAT?!?!! Now young people have to be accompanied by their PARENTS to get into our festival?!?

How can they do this?

As someone who came out at 15 years old, I was lucky enough to have parents that supported me. But what about all the GLBT and questioning youth out there who aren't so lucky?!?

PRIDE has abandoned our youth. Young people have been a key part of Pride for as long as I have been going - since 1994. Not only have youth been on the forefront of PRIDE in regards to creating their own spaces, volunteering, etc. But PRIDE is one of the ONLY times young people get to interact with the entirety of our community - to see what a gorgeous and wonderfully diverse culture we have. PRIDE is the time of year that gives us hope.

And now they are going to deny entrance to the very young people who so desperately need to attend! It will be those not yet out to their parents, whose parents kicked them out of the house, whose parents are too busy working to attend a festival. It will be the poor kids, the kids who don't have the support they need at home...

If its about shielding kids from certain content at the Festival (which I find highly suspect since San Diego's Pride is so TAME) - then certain booths or whatnot that they find "questionable" could be designated to a certain 18 and up area. But to deny entrance to the entire festival is absolutely outrageous.

There are so many aspects to this that are troubling.

I want to create a petition or SOMETHING to get reverse this! This is JUST PLAIN WRONG. How can we do this to our youth?!?!?
