I just can't put my finger on it but something is terribly lacking in hip-hop (And music in general today). Period! I'm struggling for inspiration to the point where I'm truly almost done trying to pursue hip-hop or even caring anymore for the genre all together, SERIOUSLY!... I will always have a place in my heart for the golden age of hip-hop (Early 90's) and old school hip-hop.
This new shit? Nah I'm good..... I Just can't conjure up any interest. Struggling to make new beats, despite having boatloads full of bangers for real hip-hop listeners to rejoice to. I'm trying to find a "Plan B" for my life now. My dreams of doing music seem less plausible now. It's almost a "lose, lose" situation for me in this current dire climate (Music & Economics). I still do it for the love, but it's been hard drawing up some inspiration. Music is all but terrible now......... Plus I have a son, a daughter and wife to take care of.

I could never leave Hip-Hop. But seriously this period of Hip-Hop right now doesn't inspire me at all and makes me want to quit. Even though I still make and listen to beats at my leisure. Hopefully I'll be in a position one day to release an album. I have made over 7,000 beats in my lifetime and most of these beats are sitting on my hard drive unused. Most artist's that claim to want to make it, wanna build with me or others, are bullshitters.
It's almost like saying it, just for the jist of saying it. Then these very same "Artist's" lose their drive, motivation, or just are not good or talented enough.... Or just don't understand all the things needed of them to make it. It's more then rapping over a beat with a microphone. Then theres the business side, the politics, your image, and peoples tastes in general.
I'll be back in top form one day hopefully. I love Hip-Hop, just not the Hip-Hop of today, which is more pop then anything else.

I'm done. Finished. The Hip-hop I know does not exist anymore and I refuse to dress fruity, have a Mohawk, use auto-tunes and act like I'm gay or everybody else to get people to listen to my songs and appreciate what I have to offer. Too bad for both me and hip-hop. I had a lot to offer.
Then you have the people who say "Then change it then". Ain't that easy when the record label executives have a hold on both distribution and radio. They bribe all the program directors with money, prizes, and advanced interviews and they own all the distribution companies (People who put your records into stores). All the indies are on their way out (Out of business). Most importantly, lack of money to get your stuff out there... You need a minimum of $100,000.00 for marketing and promotion just to take off in your region.
I tried hard to work with artists from my area. Started up groups and even tried to work with a team of producers. None of these avenues worked out. I'll come out of retirement if i hit the lottery or get hit up with some financial miracle. Until then? Good-Bye.
Left some beats for people to enjoy on my profile. Rest In peace Hip-Hop.
Farewell,
Mysterygrimms.

My deepest condolences and prayers goes out to Michael Jackson's Kids and his Family. Michael Jackson was the greatest entertainer of our time. Michael Jackson you will forever be missed by me, the whole African American community and most importantly this generation. I aspired to do music because of you.
I use to dance to all your music videos in the 80's when I was a kid, 90's and now. I recently introduced my 7 year old daughter to all of your past work. From when you were a childhood star with The Jackson 5, to when you became solo and gave us great albums such as "Off The Wall, "Thriller", "Bad" and when you introduced the world with your "Moon Walk" in 1983 at the Motown 25th Anniversary event.
Michael Jackson you will forever be missed and thank you for giving us such great music such as "Beat It" "Billie Jean" and "Man In The Mirror".
Thank you.

I finally realized that Hip-Hop and The Music Industry is DEAD. Things will never be the same again. I'm still shaking my head wondering how hip-hop turned into dressing and acting fruity for some commerical exposure that probably won't last past the 15 minute mark. Youtube video reply messages, E-Beefs, who has the most followers on twitter, Myspace counts, etc...Damn do I miss the good old days of dope lyricism and hard beats to bang your head to.
I even miss the old days of R&B in the early 90's. Now of days it's dressing in tight pants tight enough to relieve you of all your oxygen and painting your finger nails and having mohawks and pink color sneakers.
My days of continuing to care about music in general is limited. I will always appreciate the good music of the past and will continue to listen to those different eras of great music. But this current bullshit we call music now? Is DEAD. Autotunes, men singing when their rappers and R&B singers trying to rap and being labeled rappers instead of wack R&B singers (Trust me I can name quite a few of these artists).
I use to put my heart and soul into this music thing, but I no longer care to continue on.. just to be ignored by wack artists that don't derserve their spot in music. It's all about promotion and how you dress, who you know, what you eat, not talent. Good-bye.

Current mood: blah
Rap fans are idiots... Noticed I said "Rap" not "Hip-Hop" fans. Rap is all the bullshit we hear today on the radio and practically 90% of the people who are currently popular and considered "Bawse" "Greatest rapper alive" or "King of something out there" . Zero lyricism, it's all about swag, money and being a rap weirdo. Bawse! Everyone wants to be lil wayne, jay-z or plies now. I can't really get with all that.
Damn what happened to the Biggies and the Nases? Wu-Tang's, Onyx's, Masta Ace's? Now of days everyone... ESPECIALLY RAP FANS... are buying into the whole stupid swag, fruity clothes wearing, weirdo hairdo movement going on. Everyone is named lil, young, kid, or some stupid other name that these RAP GUYS use for gimmicky names.
Luckily Jada Kiss dropped a pretty good album, The Last Kiss, despite one too many club type tracks... but still think the album was jada's best for sure overall. That new Asther Roth joint wasn't that impressive to me, major let down actually. I was expectin more from the next so called "Eminem". Lark On My Go Kart? What is that? Also that whole twitter bullshit he pulled for publicity was ass too.
Listening to Ross's new album Deeper Then Rap (second hand copy of course). Not feeling this record. I really liked trilla though. Mafia music was a decent joint though (Only high point on the album and the nas feat). I'm waiting for 50's new joint but i know it will flop and i'm not really a 50 fan (I like the old 50) but i like to keep up with everything despite how terrible hip-hop music... i mean RAP is... now of days. AWFUL actually. Damn i mean nothing has stood out with the exception of the last kiss joint.
Hopefully slaughterhouse and royce da 5'9 will drop something soon (I'm actually looking forward to them as a group). Anyways i'm off the horn and the whole point of my original rant was that rap fans are idiots and will buy into anything that is said or fed to them, just to be considered cool or have "SWAG". That word is so ghey! It needs to be retired permanately like the T-pain autotunes Effect, Club Beats, and all this weirdo fruity dressing bullshit going on! Damn is anyone mad about the current state of everything?

Current mood: aroused
I got my mojo back baby! Well just a little of it. A little teaspoon or pinch worth. Hmm.... Good enough for me. God didn't create us perfect right? Nope! Anyways. Yo cop that new Jada Kiss Album "The Last Kiss".
Certified banger fa sho! Let me give you all a quick synopsis of the album. It wasn't cohesive enough for my tastes (I love conceptual albums)... but it was banger central. For me at least. I think they were like 13 joints, at least 8 out of them were hot.
Couple of your typical club joints, street joints (these were the bangers), tracks with the typical featured artists and a couple missteps (maybe like two at the most) but overall great effort by Jada Kiss (from the Lox). I Definitely recommend a purchase 8 of 10 kool laid packets (Lemonade or Grape flavor). We need to support the good artists out there (Very few of those left by the way)
Now i'm anticipating on Slaughterhouse to drop (Joe buddens, Joel Ortiz, Royce Da 5'9 and Crooked I). These dudes collectively are saying a lot more then they are individually, besides Royce (He's been on fire for a minute now). Peep The Bar Exam Vol.2 Mixtape (For examples).
Now the finale of this little myspace rant. I got some of my mojo juice back (nobody cares I know, but I do). Made a couple of bangers (beats) and am working on a few new projects, hope to be released soon... WELL never at this rate. But when i come up on some loot i'll definitely get something popping with this music. Still looking to work with artists (with talent of course) Anyways i'm out... kinda sleepy or not.. bout to peep that Ali Vs Fraiser Thrilla in Manila documentary that aired on HBO tonight April 11(Thank God for DVR service, I can fast forward through those annoying commercials)

Current mood: bored
Hello All? I'm officially back on my B-O-B (back on my bullshit!) I need some motivation and inspiration alike. I haven't been able to make a beat in over 3 weeks. I'm trying to get myself motivated by listening to some old reggae like Lee "Scratch" Perry and other great music from yesteryear spanning from various genres of music. Sometimes you have to tune out hip-hop to form clarity.
The world is so dull and boring now of days. Everything seems to be about MONEY. I mean i understand the economic climate is dire, but where is the creativity? Everything from music to movies is so bland and unoriginal. I will admit though, hollyweird had a decent fourth quarter last year (2008). Both Slumdog Millionaire and Gran Torino were terrific films (Check them out).
Anyways... I'm out! I'm about to go play some xbox live while I ponder on how to get my inspiration back for music. Everything is so poppy now of days (I won't mention the terrible music I'm referring to) Just turn on the radio then you'll know...
Bye, bye,
Mysterygrimms.

Current mood: amused
Tweet Tweet! I don't get this Twitter phenomena going on in the world right now. For those of you who don't know what twitter is (virtually nobody by now, since everyone in the world seems to have a twitter account now) Twitter is basically a service that allows you to post messages in 150 words or less about what you are currently doing (basically what you are doing right now sorta thing). It's very similar to facebooks "What are you doing right now or what is *insert name* doing". Though most people use twitter to go into interesting details... rants... of their daily, weekly or monthly agendas to gain followers (people, fans or whatever the new "uber" word is now of days). Twitter seems to be the biggest thing since youtube (I admit i love youtube, I'm a fan). I don't see the fascination with it, but i know that many celebrities, politicians, athletes, big corporations, media companies and rap stars do. Twitter also has like the top 10 poster list to see who writes the most on their tweet tweet page (Twitter). I do have a twitter account, but barely use it and my life is not that interesting enough to justify any prolonged usage from me, unlike facebook. I kinda like facebook now due to the fact that i don't have to worry about getting band requests (from random people a thousand times a day) and friend requests from people i don't know or even care to know (well i won't be too harsh) but...hey whatever. Facebook's network is heavily congested and the site can can be awfully slow to access at times. (probably due to it's popularity similar to twitter) I guess twitter is the best thing since sliced wheat bread HA HA HA (corny i know but don't care...) Well the buck stops here... Follow me: twitter.com/mysterygrimmsWelcome to twitter. Mysterygrimms

Current mood: annoyed
I don't even enjoy being on myspace anymore due to myspace artist band accounts. Everyday i get the same shitty messages SPAMMING me with your shitty record release banners in my myspace email or hitting me up with a friend request begging me to check your music out (well the generic artists). Or invites to fake industry wannabe events to hear your new shitty artist or if your the artist, your MUSIC CD.
For all you genuine users with REAL talent? Thank you for seeking out my opinion to validate your music, but to everyone else damn man!... It's horrible.. i don't want to hear your generic music that sounds like everything else on the radio. I'm sick of all of that cookie cutter bullshit. I want to hear about more then just you selling dope, guns, sex, and other minor distractions in your life (Well major to you all, since thats all you all talk about in your ABC rhymes). Add some substance to your songs.
Trust me if i owned any of the garbage music cd's forced upon me through these bulletin messages, email and comment approvals, i would fling them shits like a frisbee or use them as a cup holder...er.. or something else? I don't know man...
Sorry to carry on like this...but i get hit up everyday with senseless messages asking me to check out your horrible music or purchase your crappy cd that i know probably sounds terrible. Thats if i even had the money or time to actually purchase and download it off itunes or go to the store and buy it (Or maybe it's your cracked copy of myspace friend adder or blaster v10 pc application hitting me up). Now if you know your shit is hot and original, i 'd probably at least give it a listen.......If thats you hit me up and we can build, talk or whatever. Other then that, refrain from begging me to check your shit out! Good day.
Mysterygrimms.
