Here we go rad-i-o! I got a fab interview with Mania Akbari, who you may have seen as the lead role in Abbas Kiarostami's 10, a film that takes place entirely inside cars in Tehran. Mania has her first solo show in London and cuts through expectations with her frank, striking and exploratory show.

Resonance 104.4fm front page

ALSO: This Monday on Six Pillars, we're giving away two pairs of tickets to FOUR consecutive art film screenings at the Barbican on Sat Dec 6th.

The series is called the "Untitled" series examines film and video-art from Iran in four main ways. Starting at 13.00 each screening is followed by a Q & A with the artists, mostly from outside the UK.

To win these tickets simply email sixpillarstopersia at resonancefm.com with your answer to this question:

-What does the title Untitled say about a work?

The best answers will be read out on air during Monday's show and the best two answers win. Winners will be contacted by email, and will also be announced on the show (1st Dec 13.30-14.00).

London Mela tomorrow

Hi this will be my fourth mela performance, last year I was "The commissioned artist" and so tied down to doing Sitar Rhapsody, a tribute to Freddie Mercury who, like me, was of Iranian origin, studied in India and lived in UK. It was fun, taking a circuit bent hoover and sitar onto the Robert Elms show on BBC London. This year I'm free to get into my interests more: sanskrit drum and bass, hindi soundclash, persian poetry in english!
See ya there.

Sunday 21st The Music Show, (incredibly I'm now a scout for Iranian and Persian inspired music). I've been unearthing some intriguing pieces. Shame Outcaste records is no more as some tracks cross over into Indian very nicely.

Meanwhile SIX PILLARS TO PERSIA features on the UN-endorsed website Irandokht and OCPC magazine regularly, and is also repeated on Sat nights at 9.30pm

Coming up also Camila Batmanghelidjh, social entrepreneur is a guest in the last week of January.

Ok Ive produced a CD this Spring and it sold well enough, it's very cute and red and all that. BUt Alanis Morissette has produced the best things Ive seen for ages, although I really truly and not a fan of hers!

She has parodied the Black Eyed Peas ridiculously sexist and dumbing song 'My Humps' read more and see this excellently biting video here: www.tokenbrowngirl.blogspot.com
