I was on my way to the train early one Sunday morning, and the whole city was empty except for some junkies already working on getting their next fix. I started thinking about the sad irony it is that some of us try to escape from the tough world we live through drugs - but those same drugs drag us into an even more evil world. You want to break free from the scary, or sometimes boring, world - but the drugs make you get really caught up in the system you try to set yourself free from…

That’s what this month’s song is about. It’s produced by Jimmy Ledrac, and he mixed the music too. Astma recorded the vocals and mixed them - and Sören von Malmborg mastered everything in Kabul, Afghanistan (!). The artwork is designed by DhemIAK from Time will Tell as always. We’re back from vacation, and now it’s business as usual. Here’s my
first ever song in Spanish - recorded with Komodo and Damesaik in a
school where I was teaching rap. But these guys were teaching me
Spanish in return… It’s called Porqué Rapeo, which means: Why do I rap?

Thanks to all the people we have worked with and met throughout 2008 - I hope to see I see you all again next year.
The plan for 2009 is, loosely, as follows: I will release my first
solo album in Swedish this spring, and Embee will also be releasing
solo material during that same period (rumors claim that he has two
albums in the works (!) - one of them being the follow up to ‘Tellings
From Solitaria’). During the summer Looptroop will start recording our
new album, and release for that would realistically be early 2010. This
means that Looptroop will not be touring in 09, except for some new
areas (we have discussions with some people about tours in the US and
in France for example - but more about that if it gets confirmed). I
plan a solo tour in Sweden with my album though.
I know I said earlier that I would release an album in English on
the net around this time, but I need to focus on the Swedish album. So
a plan I have is to, somehow (I haven’t figured it out yet), release
one song every month and then put it together as one album when all of
them have been released. Whatever may happen to that plan, here’s at
least the first of those songs: ‘New Day’. Spread the love!

FRA - idag tre bokstäver på mångas läppar, av många uttalade med avsmak och ilska. Av andra med uppgivenhet.. Antagligen var det bl a därför majoriteten inte blev tillfrågad när FRA-lagen klubbades igenom, knappt utan debatt, där - innan riksdagens sommaruppehåll – och, lägligt nog, under fotbolls-em. Sista ordet är dock inte sagt. Vi kommer fortsätta skriva, sjunga, protestera, demonstrera och debattera mot övervakningssamhället. (Orättfärdiga) lagar är till för att rivas upp! April 23 is the date you should mark up in your calendars. That's when we're releasing "Good Things", our 4th and soon to be classic album if I may say so. And I may cus this is my blog. We've worked with Rakaa Iriscience of the Dilated Peoples, Cunninglynguists, Timbuktu, Adam Tensta, Mapei, Lazee, Allyawan, Alibi and Svante Lodén of Damn! for this one. Not all of the songs we did with those artists will be featured on the album, but we hope that they all will come out somehow for you to enjoy. Next week we're dropping the new single "The Building" - a certified Wax Cabinet banger! The video is crazy. Shot in Los Angeles and Skåne by our good friend Simon Klose who also made the Standard Bearer dvd.

In the meantime just marinate on the new song I put in my player. It's called Marinate and it's a sneak preview from the album.
