Gazpacho Announced for RoSfest 2010 We are very excited to announce Norwegian band Gazpacho for an appearance at RoSfest 2010. Gazpacho consists of: • Jan-Henrik Ohme - vocals • Jon-Arne Vilbo – guitars • Thomas Andersen - keyboards • Mikael Krømer - violin, mandolin • Robert R Johansen - drums, percussion • Kristian Torp - bass guitar Gazpacho has been described by one critic as being “classical post ambient nocturnal atmospheric folk world rock”. Putting them in a single genre is not really possible, although bands like Radiohead, Muse, Marillion, Talk Talk or Porcupine Tree have been named. Gazpacho's first three albums, "Bravo" (2003), When Earth Lets Go" (2004), and "Firebird" (2005) gained acclaim by word of mouth throughout the world. It didn’t take long before they had debuted in the Dutch indie charts at #6, hit #1 three times on Mp3.com, won international songwriter competitions, got playlistings on national radio in several countries, were offered a support slot throughout Europe, voted as one of the top 10 albums of the year for over 6 months on various sites, and a general 'good vibe' was spreading about Gazpacho underground. They played support on Marillion’s “Marbles” tour in 2004 with 31 shows in 11 countries in front of than 40.000 people, which radically raised their profile, earning the respect of audiences everywhere they played and garnering critical acclaim. Overwhelmed by the audience's positive reaction to Gazpacho, Marillion's record label, "Intact Records", sought to capitalize on Gazpacho's potential. They launched Gazpacho’s 3rd studio album 'Firebird', and licensed the back catalogue. Appearing on Firebird is none other than Marillion's guitar legend Steve Rothery who contributed stunning melodic guitars on the track 'Do You Know What You Are Saying?’ Their fourth album “Night” (2007) showed a departure from the short song format of the previous albums, and instead consists of one long 50-minute conceptual piece, divided into five parts. The album was instantly well-received in prog-circles, topping the Just For Kicks Music sales chart for two weeks after its release. The international press was almost unanimously positive, calling the album "very, very grand art", "nothing short of a masterpiece" and "an incredible album". The album charted in the reader's top 20 at Progwereld for more than a year. Night also did very well in several readers' polls at the end of 2007. The album was voted 9th best album of 2007 by listeners of Polish radio station MLWZ and 8th best album in the Dutch Progressive Rock Page Poll. The album is also in the top 10 of 2007 at Progarchives. The band's follow-up for Night, titled “Tick Tock”, was released in March 2009 and is garnering rave reviews as the band's best album to date. The album tells the story of French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's airplane crash in the Sahara Desert and subsequent rescue. The story is told through exciting and mature music, showing the band's growth from previous albums but maintaining the Gazpacho sound. The band has since headlined a European tour, including a performance at the prestigious Night of the Prog Festival in Loreley. We are proud to bring this terrific band to North America for the first time for RoSfest 2010. RoSfest Moves to the Majestic Theater RoSfest is excited to announce that we are moving our festival to the Majestic Theater in historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The town is located midway between many major cities including Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Washington DC, and Philadelphia. It is serviced by 4 major airports within a 75 mile radius, the closest being the Harrisburg international Airport (35 miles), Baltimore-Washington International Airport (55 miles), Reagan National Airport (68 miles), and Dulles International Airport (75 miles). The Majestic Theater is an elegantly decorated theater with 815 comfortable seats, a world-class stage, and modern technical facilities. Its features include a balcony, a great view from every seat, accessibility, and plenty of space for vendors and activities. The town boasts many watering holes and great restaurants within walking distance of the theater, including the Appalachian Brewery Company. Adequate parking for all of our guests is available in a garage next to the theater. We feel that we have found our permanent home and we know that everyone attending RoSfest 2010 will feel the magic of this lovely town and the Majestic Theater. All the information, including pictures of the theater, is posted and available on the RoSfest website at http://rosfest.com/Majestic_Theater.htm We have also secured two hotels for our guests. The historic Gettysburg Hotel right next door to the theater has available 50 rooms per night for the three-night performance at a group rate of $139.00 This is a convenience that is unmatched, but the number of rooms is not sufficient as our main host hotel. Fortunately, we were able to secure a group rate of $114.00 at a hotel that can accommodate our entire group and their needs 5 miles from the theater, the Eisenhower Hotel and Conference Center. All of the bands will be staying at the Eisenhower, and all after-hours events will be held there. There are also many other hotels in the Gettysburg area to choose from with rates as low as $75.00 per night. All the information is posted and available on the RoSfest website at http://rosfest.com/Lodging.htm . I would make reservations as soon as possible, as the rooms available at the group rate will sell out quickly. What I liked best about the new theater is the way it took me back to the days of the Colonial Theater, but with a complete and beautiful restoration. In addition, the town has the charm and amenities of Phoenixville and Glenside combined. I'm sure that RoSfesters will be happy when they come to Gettysburg in 2010 and I have a feeling that it will be magical. Look for band updates in the next few weeks. Gold seat tickets will go on sale November 7th 2009 at 12 Noon EST. All tickets are reserved seating. The date for Regular seat ticket sales will be announced soon. A seating chart for The Majestic is on the RoSfest website. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our friends and associates at The Keswick Theater. They have been nothing but wonderful for the last two years, and we have been proud and thankful to call Glenside and its lovely Keswick Theater our home. See you all at our new home on April 30th, May 1st and 2nd, 2010. George Roldan www.rosfest.com

Manning Announced For RoSfest 2010 RoSfest is pleased to announce Manning this eight piece band led by maestro Guy Manning will be playing the second slot on Saturday May 1st. The band Manning has been around since 1999, formed around the prodigiously talented singer / songwriter / multi-instrumentalist Guy Manning. Having previously been an associate of prog legends Parallel or 90 Degrees and being a founder member of the internationally respected, The Tangent, Guy has an impressive record of releasing ten studio albums in ten years! Manning produce an eclectic mix of music which broadly falls within the "progressive" genre, but in reality spans many different musical forms from beautiful ballads and folk-tinged songs through to awesome all-out rock workouts and true progressive epics - no two songs sound the same! The band is currently experiencing a surge of interest and support, with the previous album "Songs From The Bilston House" having been nominated for Album of the Year by the Classic Rock Society (CRS) and a series of storming headline gigs in support of the latest and critically acclaimed album "Number Ten". Highlights of the band's tenth anniversary year will be an appearance at the 2009 Cambridge Rock Festival and the planned recording of a live album later in the year. Other members of Manning are Dave Million (lead guitars), Phil Wilkes (keyboards), Kris Hudson-Lee (bass), Dave Albone (drums and percussion), Kevin Currie (rhythm guitars and backing vocals), Julie King (additional keyboards, percussion and backing vocals) and Steve Dundon (flute and other blowable things)- producing a wonderfully full symphonic sound on stage. For a complete bio of the band head over to the RoSfest website and check out the Manning web page at http://rosfest.com/Performers-2010/Manning.htm There are two MP3's posted on the same page near the bottom featuring Understudy - Songs From The Bilston House - 2007 & - Ships from Number Ten - 2008. Rosfest is pleased to announce that DeeExpus have been selected to play our coveted Sunday morning Church of Prog slot! Up until very recently DeeExpus had been the long time solo project of songwriter, producer and multi instrumentalist Andy Ditchfield. A chance reunion with singer and old friend Tony Wright in March 2007 expanded the project into two people for the first time and writing and recording of the album “Half Way Home” began. The DeeExpus sound can only be described as being as eclectic as their influences, drawn from years of listening to the likes of Joe Jackson, Iron Maiden, It Bites, Crash Test Dummies, Rush, Nik Kershaw and Marillion, more recently Porcupine Tree and Spock’s Beard. Having recently released “Half Way Home”, Tony and Andy are working hard with the rest of the band to take DeeExpus on the road… The current band line up is: Tony Wright – Lead Vocals, Andy Ditchfield – Guitar, Keyboards & Vocals, Ian Raine – Bass Guitar & Vocals, Steve Wright – Guitar & Vocals, Kev Jager – Drums & Vocals. Look for this stellar band to make a great introduction in our celebrated Sunday morning church slot. You definitely want to be there when this band performs.

RoSfest is pleased to annouce Magic Pie back to the RoSfest stage as one of our headliners for 2010. The band will play the headlining slot on Sunday night, May 2nd, 2010. The band was established in 2001 and consists of Kim Stenberg (guitars), Eirik Hanssen (lead vocals, acc. guitar), Gilbert Marshall (organ, keyboards, lead vocals), Eirikur Hauksson (lead vocals, acc guitar), Lars Petter Holstad (bass guitar) and Jan T. Johannessen (drums). The characteristic and unique Magic Pie sound is founded on strong melodious songs, blended by powerful vocal arrangements, sparkling guitar riffs, 70’s organ and synths, and solid bass-drumwork. The music embraces a wide spectrum of styles, changing from the softest emotional piece to the more heavy metal riffs. Even if the band has it’s unique sound and signature, influences from Spock’s Beard, Deep Purple, Yes, Dream Theater, Pink Floyd, Kansas, Flower Kings and Uriah Heep is perceptible in the musical “pie”. The band signed with Swedish record label “Progress Records” in 2005 and released their first album “Motions of Desire” the same year. In 2007 they released their follow-up and second album “Circus of Life”. The total response for the albums has been overwhelming by both musical critics and audience all over the world, and their live performances equal to the musicianship presented in the studiowork. The band is actively working on their new studio album and it should be ready in time for RoSfest. During the recent years the band has performed with extreme success at various locations and festivals in USA, Sweden and Norway, peaking at their performance at Sweden Rock Festival 2007. Hello RoSfesters, The RoSfest weekend has come and gone and I'm still feeling the warmth and gratitude from all of you that attended. This years festival as a whole was the most satisfying for me and our staff. We worked many long hours to make this festival one of the best in the world. My sincere gratitude goes out to our entire staff, Donna O'Donnell, Anthony Roldan, Allen Brunelle, Darryl Sipf, Josh Dwyer, Bob Saunders, Joshua Kailer, Dana Holmes, Bernie Smith, Pat Murphy, Debbie Smith, Judy Smith, Jeanne Berlin, Jen Bodak, Brian & Martha Schenkenberger. Special thanks also go out to our sound and lighting company for all the long hours they put in. Extra special thanks go out to my sweetheart Krista Phillips who knows how to give hugs to everyone and always has a smile on her face.
Special thanks go out to Dr. Mellotron for his help with John Lees' Barclay James Harvest and Iluvatar. Big thanks to Buster and Christopher Petro who volunteered to bring us keyboards. Not sure if Tom ever needed them but a big thanks anyway. My sincere gratitude also goes out to the entire Keswick Theatre staff for being very professional and courteous to our patrons. Maybe next year they will offer us longer beer discounts. ;) Special thanks for all the bands who performed at our sixth annual RoSfest. Great performances had by all and they made it the best one yet. Hopefully some year Ed Unitsky will come over to RoSfest. He was missed by everyone. With an economy in turmoil all RoSfest had to do was survive this year and that we did. The final seat tally was 602 seats sold for the weekend and Friday had slightly more. John Lees' Barclay James Harvest and Frost* sold a significant number of single concert tickets. My personal thanks go out to all our gold ticket subscribers and I'm serious when I say that we could not do RoSfest without your support. Please continue to support us and we will continue to bring you a great product. Special thanks also go out to everyone that purchased tickets "THANK YOU SO MUCH". Keep your eye on the RoSfest website, Facebook, MySpace site and our Yahoo group for updates. Don't forget Magic Pie was announced as one of our headliners for 2010. George Roldan www.rosfest.com

Apocalypse: RoSfest show and North-American tour cancelled In a official statement, the premier Brazilian progressive rock band APOCALYPSE announces the cancellation of its new North-American tour that would happen in April/May 2009, including the show at Rites Of Spring Festival (RoSfest) in PA. "With so much sorrow we announce the cancellation of our show at RoSfest 2009 and the entire leg of our new North-American tour. The reason for that is exclusively due the financial world crisis that is affecting all sectors of the global society, and that made the band's trip to the US impossible at this moment. Due the dollar elevation, the flight tickets had a big increase in price in relation to the last year when the band signed the contract with the concert's promoters and planned the entire budget. The process to get the visas approval was also a determinant factor. APOCALYPSE and the festival's organizer George Roldan got to this decision amicably. Both sides will be in touch in order to get APOCALYPSE playing at RoSfest 2010. APOCALYPSE says sorry to all its American fans and promises to return for new shows soon." Eloy, Gustavo, Ruy, Chico e Magoo - Feb/2009 APOCALYPSE will now concentrate forces on its national tour in promotion of its new album "The Bridge Of Light" released last year by Free Mind Records in Brazil and Musea Records in Europe and Asia. RoSfest is pleased to announce special guest THE SYN In light of APOCALYPSE having to bow out of the festival, we are pleased to announce THE SYN playing the second spot on Friday night. Progressive rock band The Syn will show off a new lineup and a new vision with their latest CD Big Sky and an extensive North American tour Formed in 1965, The Syn was a precursor of the band Yes, with that band's bassist Chris Squire as one of the founding members. At various times The Syn has also included Yes alums Peter Banks and Alan White in their lineup. Now The Syn continues forward with a core lineup of Steve Nardelli (founding member, songwriter, lead vocalist and guitarist), Francis Dunnery (of It Bites and Robert Plant fame - guitars and vocals) and Tom Brislin (Spiraling - also keyboardist on Yes' Symphonic tour - keyboards and vocals). The lineup is augmented for the tour by Paul Ramsey (Echolyn) providing drums and other percussion, Brett Kull (also of Echolyn) on guitar and Dorie Jackson doing backing and harmony vocals. This year's event will be the sixth annual Rites of Spring Festival. Located in the Greater Philadelphia Area (Glenside, PA), the festival features some of the best progressive rock acts from all over the globe. Other acts at the event will include Nektar, Lazuli, John Lees' Barclay James Harvest, Iluvatar, Frost*, Mangala Vallis, Abigail's Ghost, Moon Safari, Moth Vellum, Touchstone and Silver Pipe. For more information on the festival go to www.rosfest.com. You can find the Syn on the Web at www.synmusic.net and www.myspace.com/thesyn. About Umbrello Records: Umbrello Records is a leading independent record label and part of Umbrello Music Entertainment. Umbrello Records is home to a diverse family of artists. In addition to progressive music leaders The Syn, the roster includes talented artists Julie Felix (in a collaboration with John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin), K2 featuring Allan Holdsworth (U.K., Level 42), Ryo Okumoto (Spock's Beard), Ken Jaquess (Atlantis), violinist Yvette Devereaux and drummer Doug Sanborn (The Untouchables). Frost* announces Nick D'Virgilio at RoSfest 2009. Frost* are very pleased to announce that Nick D'Virgilio will be joining them for their first American appearance at RoSFest on May 2nd 2009. Replacing original drummer, Andy Edwards, Nick brings a wealth of experience and talent to an extremely challenging role. Nick first met Frost* when the band supported Spock's Beard on their European dates during summer 2008. Jem Godfrey said "I'm really thrilled that Nick has been mad...sorry, brave...sorry, kind enough to become an honorary Frostie for one of our most eagerly anticipated performances. We're already working on it and I think it's going to be a belter of a show. We can't wait." Nick D'Virgilio said "WHOO HOOO!!! I get to be a Frostie for a day!" "Seriously, after Spock's and Frost toured I knew they were a great band with great music. But I was never really able to get into the music that deeply on tour because I was always getting ready for the Spock's set while they were on stage. Then recently I was asked to sit in for the Rosfest show. I said yes immediately and then started really listening closely to the CD's. Man-o-man do I have my work cut out for me. In a great way. I am very excited to be a part of this gig and thank you FROST for having me along." Make sure you're there for this unique occasion! http://www.rosfest.com/Performers-2009/Frost.htm
