Hey Friends,
If you're flying Delta Airlines anytime this month (October) be sure to tune into their music channel on the plane. "Unbreakable" from my new album Echo is on Delta's playlist!

Plus it'll help drown out the sounds of the crying baby behind you. Glad I could help.

Thanks,
Maia

Maia had a memorable time at the Clay Center in Charleston, West Virginia. "It was great to hear and hang with the other acts and the tried and true house band. Everyone with Mountain Stage is talented and professional. MaiaSharponMountainStage Somehow they manage to create a stress free environment and still hit their many marks." The show recorded on August 9 for NPR's 'Mountain Stage' will be airing the weekend of October 2 on most NPR stations.

Mountain Stage has been featuring live music by a diverse group of artists for over 25 years, including performances by the Indigo Girls, Iris DeMent, Wilco, Joan Baez, Emmylou Harris, k.d. Lang, Sarah McLachlan, R.E.M., Ani DiFranco, Janis Ian, Neko Case, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Steve Earle just to name a few. "I'm honored to be in the company of this Mountain Stage alum. What an A List of singer songwriters."

You can hear Maia's 'Mountain Stage' appearance on your local NPR station.

Thanks to our new partners, Blix Street Records, September 15 marks the release of Echo in physical CD stores! Yes, you can get it at Borders, Barnes and Noble and local ma & pa's as well as anywhere music is sold online. Feels like forward motion!

Just got home from a west coast run that took us through northern California and the Northwest. Now I have two days to catch up at home (pay bills, remind my dog who I am) before we fly to Charlotte, NC to open for the Indigo Girls. I've been a fan for years. That should be ridiculous fun.

"Walk With You," the song I co-wrote with Edwin McCain is now available on iTunes and Edwin is singing the you know what out of it. It's so worth the pocket change to hear him do his thing. It's slated to be on his upcoming greatest hits album which hits stores February, 2010.

The October tour is shaping up as I type. We'll be posting dates as they confirm.

Hope to see you out there!
Maia

All right...good stuff has brewed or is brewing. NPR featured me chatting about Echo in an "All Things Considered" episode with Melissa Block a couple weeks ago but you can still hear it by going to NPR.org, searching "maia sharp" in the top right corner and clicking on Maia Sharp: A Songwriter Set To Arrive. They then made "Death By Perfection" their song of the day which you can also hear if you make those moves.

My label, Crooked Crown Records has just joined forces with Blix Street Records, best known for a catalogue of recordings by the late, great Eva Cassidy. Blix will market and distribute Echo (in physical music stores as well) and double our efforts in general. We're really excited about it...they are good people who do good business. Expect to see Echo in brick and mortar stores September 14. In the meantime it's still just about everywhere music is sold online.

I'm back on the road through November with only a couple breaks for sanity's sake. Please check the tour dates. We are always adding new stops.

Hope to see you out there! Thanks for checking out the site and hopefully, the new album.

NPR's Melissa Block spoke with Maia for the series Summer Song Favorites. Maia tells a great story about little league and Paul Simon's "Kodachrome".

Oddly enough, Kodak recently announced that they will no longer be making Kodachrome after this year.

Hi Friends!
It's with a big "phew" and a bigger "yay" that I announce the release of my new album, Echo. For the first couple weeks it will only be available through my website, maiasharp.com then starting in July you'll be able to get it everywhere music is sold online (but buying it through my site helps me the most). What a road...the writing, recording, packaging and now being the label...I'm beat but very happy. I hope you all enjoy it. It's riddled with truth for better or worse.

Please check the tour dates when you get a chance. I'll be all over the place starting in July. Hope to see you out there!

Thanks,
Maia

Hi Friends,

It's all coming into focus or bloom whichever metaphor you prefer.  The tour is being planned, the album is being finished and the new T-shirts are being introduced...now.  no, wait...okay, now.

One day in the studio while making my new album, after hours of non stop work and attention to detail that had everyone glazed over like a Krispy Kreme, Don Was (producer) stood up and said "okay, everyone... let's stretch, caffeinate and rock." It was so simple and worked so well (because we did, in fact, come back and rock) that I made shirts for the album team as a thank you gift. There were only 11 at first but every wearer of that original run has been stopped and asked about the shirt. It turns out "stretch, caffeinate and rock" can apply to and inspire anyone who's felt the glaze, the thought jam, the crispiness that comes with working too hard for too long at any task. I figured there needed to be more than 11 of us walking around with all the answers so I printed up a bunch more.

Now that new album is just days away from being mixed and mastered and tour dates are starting to fall in line (please check the dates posted).  If you come out to a show and walk up to the CD table wearing your Stretch, Caffeinate & Rock shirt or tank (proudly...no slouching) we will happily give you a $2 discount off the new CD.  Hope to see you out there!
