I have been having a difficult time reigning in some things so all points lead to a little writing that I hope I can pinpoint some specific areas that are grey. For the past six months I have been solely playing catch up with family and the local community. I recorded a whole bunch of stuff including a new CD without all that silly fanfare...um...I can't say I am worse for this. I love my neighbors and the families that are raising their kids as we are continuing to find common ground. We share laughs, raise concerns and learn new things. I love listening as troubles can overwhelm people briefly and sometimes I have good advice. Mostly, I think about how I can help. I seek answers. I hope for the best and pray that we all make it through to find simple pleasures.
BUT, this is a circle. Simplicity reminds me of art, because the root of creativity and the spirit of faith rest in the arts. BUT professional art is such a sham and a shame as we all forget that we each possess the abilities to reflect on our little time spent alive by conjuring a unique creation. We leave it to others we have been told are better. We are taught that one form of art will produce better results and insist on reproductions and lose the spirit and innocence I see everyday with the kids. Absolute art, I have a story to tell, this crayon is my means. I have always loved that more and have proved that I support crayons over the more elite oils.
As I can look at Rembrandt, I can look at Pollack or Grandma Moses. As I read Shakespeare, I can read Laura Ingalls WIlder and read Kerouac. As I can hear Vognar, I can hear Jimi Hendrix and Crass. It all has meaning and different levels of external effect, but more importantly internal effect. Art that inspires you to art, is good art IMO.
The external effect is the most confusing part. This is how your art effects other people. Many people will look and listen, but there will be only a few that listen or look twice and half that to those who will like it or get it unless it emulates something they've heard or experienced before and chants something easy they can support with both fists in the air.
So then we talk about the artist becoming their own promoter, like any bullshit salesman has more miles on their shoes and smashed empty disposable coffee cups holding together the floor of their over exercised automobile. They have a need to survive and sell you what you want. And boy do you want art!
You want all kinds of art, you want 'the popular art' the Michael Jackson of art, hand fed to you on media platters with spoons of professionalism and professional drama-isms where never is there a note out of line or a move unrehearsed-but it's so freaky, you love it! You want 'emotional art' like when you're having a bad day art and this art touched you the worst day of your life art. (You only show that art to your friends and potential lovers.) You want quirky art that has no highs or lows and you swear it's the best because you appreciate it's ineffectualness while you work. This art is popular with your friends too, since you all tend to have common quirky days. Then you want banned art or controversial art to spring up a good conversation with an adversary or some shit head who thinks they know art more than you. If banned art doesn't work than you have also collected obscure art, so then the battle is a point-by-point win or lose on the person who has the most obscure art, for example remember that band that reproduced Master of Puppets in Swedish playing only wind instruments?
The point is it's a lot of time that is consumed to just consume what has always been in your own grasp to make. You can make professional, emotional, quirky, banned, controversial, and obscure art all by yourself for next to nothing and have a lot of fun altogether (like me, joking couldn't resist the punch line :)
That is the internal art drive and inspiration that keeps artists knitting together scarves and baby blankets, writers squeezing tennis balls and yes musicians seeking like minded folks to find a home for all of us artists is brilliant, right, so then we go with Judy Garland's line. "If ever I seek anything...I'll know that I don't have to go far, there's no place like home"

I just wanted to let you know that I just added my 1975th friend on MySpace. 1975 is my birth year and yes I am proud, considering how I know that I am fortunate that I am one of the few DJs on MYSpace that still has a shirt on her back :) Times are rough as a DJ, try second hand and less body oil :) Someday I will check out your fresh new tracks as I am sure that you keep updated with mine :) Power to the people!

QoWR Alert; TWO new songs today on MySpace.Share Today at 10:02am | Edit Note | Delete The first is a new theme song for Luna Lovegood. I was happy to experiment a bit with adding some Mariam Makeba flavoring. There aren't a lot of lyrics. Check out the song song; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwNk-5enrfM The second song In Witch We Come Together. Reflects my feelings on the community everyone keeps talking about and I get a chance to do some shout outs to a few people who have struck me over the years! Except, I screw up Hope Mullinax. She's from Georgia, damn it! I say Texas. I have a great idea of how to mask the line out and it reminds me of the Slughorn's tampered memory BUT I am currently afraid to open any files on Garageband as our hard drive has ZERO memory. So I was going to transfer stuff to the external hard drive, but I don't know, laziness comes to mind and right now the kids are using it on the other computer ANYHOO, Rawhide Tv Theme inspired BTW :) Lotsa lyrics to write; In Witch We Come Together I was gone for a while, I walked a hungry mile. I've come for now to lead a final battle. And I will put away my whims, cause I want us all to win. Crawling through the portrait hole I'm surprised and happy who came. And if we come together, like we are neighbors, And if we come together, I'd like to know my neighbor. And there's New York City, The Group That Shall not be Named And there's St. Louis, featuring Wrockstock I'm happy you all came. There's all the Hope we need from GEORGIA! (doh!) And Sqibgirl from Ohio Amy from Ireland, Olivier from Belgium Rose Creek from Pittsburgh, just to name a few. And if we come together, like we are neighbors, And if we come together, I'd like to know my neighbor. We would not forget the Rhode Island crew or Boston's finest Wizards Taking down You-Know Who And if we come together, like we are neighbors, And if we come together, I'd like to know my neighbor. (Wizard) I'd like to know my neighbor and I'm hell bent for Wizards

Well, it's not REALLY rap, in fact there's more techno diva action going on and that funky clav sound, God I love that.
This second song from this is from the album title, The Queen of Wizard Rap. The very first song, "The True Queen of Wizard Rap"(LOL) will be featured next week as I plan to add a new song each week to my MySpace over the course of 12 weeks! What a fun challenge! Get your dancin' boots on!
Ian is encouraging me to do a quick video, hmmm, yeah, stay tuned!

The Queen of Wizard Rap part one:

Life without magic is no life for me
I let you go Hogwarts,
I'm here to tell you that I miss you
and that I wasn't all that cool

And everytime I see pictures of you
I bow my head in some truth
No matter how weird I am
I still wanna be with you
I wanna be with you
Hogwarts, I wanna be with you

I wanna dance with the wizards and witches
full body hugs like there's no tomorrow
and after all is said and done
our common ground is solid
and we all had fun

I wanna dance with the wizards and witches
muggles can continue with their business
magic is for everyone
"it's fun to have fun
but you have to know how"

XXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO..OOO

I was thinking that the alternate title for this album would be the 12 steps of Wizard Rock Recovery,
mucho amore!
tina.

it's up on my MySpace play list;

A new surge of different of interest in this chapter occurs as movie go-er's head out(I WON'T BE SEEING THE MOVIE UNTIL FRIDAY~HOPEFULLY)..I continue to answer more questions about Harry Potter to Holden with the help of the studious Darius, of whom I totally appreciate since someone very kind reminded me of fact checking :) I re-read this chapter to be sure of my ongoing feelings for particularly Merope. I wanted to reiterate my how much of an impact this chapter had on me as a socially conscientious artist.
In the chapter, Ogden, a Ministry official reveals a very dark memory that Dumbledore and Harry share through the pensive. It is the last day the small Gaunt family is a 'free' wizarding family as the Ministry steps into Morphin's activity of torturing the muggle Tom Riddle Sr. We meet the young tortured sibling of Morphin and daughter of Marvolo, Merope. She doesn't say a word as she is completely terrified of her father and brother.
Maybe Marvolo thought it was common and good practice to harrass and embarrass his daughter in front of a stranger and fellow wizard(furthering her shaking and fumbling, which leads to more submission.) Both he and Morphin are casually amused by this sport. They probably had no means to ever talk to her in a polite fashion amongst strangers. Even Harry comments that he had never seen someone who looked 'so defeated.'
This is HARRY, of whom suffered an upbringing of misfortune with countless tales of serious amounts of verbal abuse, neglect and imprisonment! Merope, must have looked ROUGHENED and altogether pretty bad. In fact, her everyday growing up looked pretty bad.
As much as I feel a 'different' love and power from Ariana Dumbledore, I feel the same towards Merope and she was first. As an artist, Merope forged my ideas of creating my second wizrock CD Yellowish that depicts many of the plights that the Harry Potter female characters incur. That course formed more CD's in the long run. BTW, I'm not here to sell CDs, just saying :)
The House of Gaunt set up the precedent for many question for me like; How as a victim, newly release from her abusers did she change this pattern? ANSWER; She didn't, by securiung Tom Riddle Sr., who appears to be cocky and well-to-do brat that eventually shirks his main responsibilty of being a responsible father to his biological son.
The second question, "What if Merope had access to better healthcare and networks that supported single mothers....later on, Snape would have benefitted from this too :) ANSWER: Regardless, Modern medicine has yet to come up with a cure for the broken heart~no matter how twisted the circumstances were.
I wonder if she would have lived if she could have totally rebelled and became a compassionate and caring mother, offsetting the Voldemort's inborn and learned sociopathy.
My last on the the House of Gaunt and Merope (aside from that song I sing:) is in the spirit of Andrew Slack, the lessons taught.
Women, no matter what the circumstances are upon pregnancy, if you choose to stay pregnant, assume that you are not a victim, your are a mom and if that does not suit you after the choice, find adopting parents that will welcome the birth and honor the creation of child :)
To men; Fess up to your spawn responsibilities. Working with a crazy mom can be trying, but working together, no matter how complicated, may in fact divert the possibility of creating the most dark and dangerous wizard in history :)
Unfortunately, I am privy to many horror stories that are not different from struggles of visitation rights to financial support, priorities please, Mom and Pop!

Last week I read Dr. Kevin Lehman's second book on the subject of birth order. Today, in my Harry Potter creative mind, I came up somethings I am hoping will make you laugh a bit as I don't know whether or not J.K. Rowling was a believer in birth order, but she hit some things dead on by the very well learned Dr. Lehman.
The Weasley Children;

Charlie Weasley; First born leader; occupation, Dragon Wrangler. If you think wrestling with dragons is dangerous business than try wrestling 6 younger siblings including a fiery 'special' addition of twins and a baby princess while still maintaining the the title 'Apple of my eye."

Bill Weasley; Second born rebel; occupation, working with strict and un-catering Goblins at Gringott's. With his long hair, ear piercing and trench coat the (classic rebel appearance) it is not a surprise that his fate leaves him thirsting for 'rare' meat and a half veela for dessert as second borns tend to do things differently with intention to offset their older sibling.

Percy Weasley; Third born, first middle child. Percy MARRIES the Ministry! Alas a place for him to gain the individual constant praise and attention that as he needs as he was unintentionally squeezed out of the attention. Two older high achievers and just under him, the 'special' twins. Percy is an over achiever and noticed by his family only when he achieves and he never felt the sense of belonging and chose the Ministry as his family, wrongly of course.

Fred & George; 4th borns. Occupations; entrepreneurs! Normally you would separate the twins as normally twins tend to need the separation, but in this case, Fred and George probably decided early on-perhaps in utero that they work better as a team! They are happy to share 4th born title and exhibit baby qualities as they were perceived and coddled as a 'special' circumstance. The decision for them to go into business as partners were key to their success as they probably would have not been suited well to work for others :)
The loss of Fred? An immense impact on mostly George, but also Ron, who naturally looked to the twins as his models for awesomeness in many respects. I feel that if the story was written deeper after the fact that George and Ron would have developed a stronger sibling relationship than the others due to this loss.

Ron Weasley; 5th born(if we assume that the twins share 4th) 5th BOY 5th wheel. The spare tire. No one was surprised at his birth, he was intermingled and loved practically as the others. Ron is the second middle child of the Weasley brood as he is not 'special' like Fred and George AND he is the boy before the Baby Princess!
But Lehman's first book describes the possibility that a fifth born to exhibit (when important) some first born attributes particularly in leadership. We experience this first in the Philosopher's Stone when he is shown to be the mundane middle born, but a Wizard Chess Champion that champions the leadership role in the finale overpowering the natural leaders of his gang (Harry, first born/only child smooshed thru abuse into second born-never identified with that role AND Hermione, first born/only child) We see that they are surprised (many times through out the series) at Ron's secret weapon of just knowing how to lead.

Ginny Weasley: Alas Molly and Arthur you got your girl! You were banking that her sex would mean things would be different BUT she is the 'Baby Princess,' coddled and swooned over by not only by you accidently for fairness sake, but by her 6 older brothers...although, Ron was witnessed as a toddler upon her birth saying, "Ah jeez, FML"
As she grew in the Baby Princess surroundings, her first born GIRL traits simmered. She displays these qualities in her early pubescent experiment with public affection and is very sharp with Ron how independent she has grown. BTW, according to Lehman Harry and Ginny are a perfect match. Harry knows when to give the "Baby Princess" the atention she is used to, but also is reserved enough as a first born to expect her to excel in her second dominating nature as first born female.

Molly and Arthur;

I have to research, cause right now I don't remember and I wanna throw a guess out.
Molly, First born or second born dethroning an older sibling.
Arthur, Third and last born, the baby!
More on the Weasley's later as I explore the functional dysfunctions of family life :)
OH!
If you are wondering, I am a second born, somewhat dethroned the first born sister and mess things up at times like similar JFK and the Bay of Pigs plus, of course R.A.B.
Whoops! :)

We stood amongst the crowded Borders with our smaller family of 5. Darius 6, Holden 3 and Baby Oliver 8 months old, Violet was still just a future dream realized. First on our minds was the new Harry Potter book, second free entertainment for the kids in the Potterverse that Borders had provided, tons of games and experiments. They cued up my homeschooling/unschooling make-your-own-school base it on awesome-mom and this was a total party.
Fresh in our mouths were lyrics of the early Harry and the Potters. We had been following their moves on MySpace and were so in love with them. Ian and I particularly loved the tour diaries they used to post at this time. Joe's flip-flops and discovering a beer in the medicine cabinet of a less than wholesome place to crash between shows. I lived vicariously through them, my spirit appreciating the freedom of a creative organized duo spreading the fun-loving aspects of HP.
Later, with the Horntails I turned following their tours into neat explorations of geography/time zones/ and culture. In 2007, we followed due to the interests of Holden and Darius waiting for part of the summer until they got to open for HatP's in three consecutive shows including the historical Deathly Hallows release in Harvard Square.
I had ordered our copy through Amazon and l kept telling myself and Darius mostly that our copy would arrive in the morning. We got home and Ian left for the Waldenbooks release. We joked about expecting him to come home with a copy. He had entered a drawing. It was still ok, as with a tight family budget the purchase of a new book has to not exceed the money for providing the basics to the wee ones.
The new book arrived late. I remember pacing with Darius outside our old Allentown apartment like, "Something must have happened to the mail man. He might be suffering in the bushes with a dog bite wound or worse he's READING OUR BOOK!"
He arrived around 3pm, probably a couple chapters in and felt guilty, and both Holden and Darius grabbed at the package and I pulled less than natural authoritative move of saying "AH AH AH, Mommy opens the book, we must protect the spine and Mommy will show you how"
I proceed to open the book in half, gently tugging at the cover, then 1/4 first half, and 1/4 last half. I only do this to important books and shine as an ex-work study librarian assistant and library volunteer.
This WAS an important book, it pulled out of the politics that ran so high in OoP and right down to some well earned history lessons of the wizards J.K. had created. It killed Dumbledore, what?
I went back to Mugglenet. Said my peace. Harry is a Horcrux. I was ignored. I rarely care about those fan sites, since I like my Harry Potter served up fresh with out spoilers @Stacy Swish :) Altho I do appreciate Melissa Anelli <3
My kids are very excited for the movie release as I am, but I do fear it's going to be chopped...I expect that it will be another Harry Potter movie that holds it's own weight as a visual exploration and an enticing tool for people to crack open the books. um, protecting the spine and all :)
The past few weeks here have been on 'high Harry alert" Holden has a slew of questions about the more intricate workings of each book as we read and he listens to the audio books. He has been sighted singing at full volume, "THIS BOOK IS SO AWESOME!"
They have so many pleasant memories and this movie is bringing all them up!

yeah! time to do stuff again! shipping CDs in the AM. Thanks again for those who have already purchased my CD(s)!

PARLOR AND SIMPLICITY;

I'm not one to say things like the old timers, 'oh things were better back in the Golden age"
I don't blame the disintegration of morality on the lack of prayer in school and the divorce rates and the rise of single parent led household. I think that corruption is based on the fact that we don't interact in the same ways that former societies did.
In the Golden Age and previous Victorian age of small towns the families moved in to open space and found there jobs at the local business. Each town had a special product it would produce and sell. In Topton, they sold stoves....Each member of the community was expected to function as some facet to everyday life. So if you weren't a factory worker, a salesperson, or an engineer, you built and fixed up homes, carried the mail, cut the hair, owned the local food store or clothing store. You could also be the teachers and school administrators. To protect the citizen from fire or thievery, citizens became the police force and firemen. Community members became politicians.
As gatherers, women tended to their children together shopped in the same stores and post-part-um depression was less of an issue as there were people around the families that cared. Everyone knew their neighbors and their function because we didn't hide inside playing the X Box, as the children made their neighborhood friends. Life happened, we celebrated everyday by coming together in the evening to play "Parlour games" in the parlor sat a piano, travelers came to the parlor room to share their music and many times they sold their products to get by.
That's the new age of this business of music, friendship, and community in general.
All I know is that while I was on vacation, I had a lot of good times within my residential community and I feel like there's a history of solidarity of happiness in the way things worked.
So, the Parlor Room, you are welcome to come play, read, listen, hang out and such, that is of course if I kinda know you. This is sort of an extension of the Horntail Family Variety Show.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOXXXXXXXX
What would Dumbledore do?
It's funny that shortly after i wrote my song about Dumbledore it became the subject of the HPA. I view his character as so immensly human, foolish and blinded by love through out his life. We know he had chose one very negative partner in life, and it killed a deeper love, his sister. He was alone and guilt ridden. Did that drive him to make choices to protect his loves or missions later to the point of irresponsibility? So sad that he chose to stay away from Harry when Harry was so in need of guidance.
His business dealings were also so emotionally driven that he became a self sacrificial object for the Ministry to publically bash. Then he became the champion...again. His character is life. We win some, we lose some and you can't be awesome everywhere even if you can apparate.
The point of view of my song is that Luna was totally left out of a lot and she discovers her home blown up, takes that walk thru the woods and sees him, she isn't impressed.
BTW I LOVE Dumbledore, his humanity and human tendencies are to be noted and appreciated. :)
