From both of us, we very much hope that you have a peaceful and joyous time during the holidays, whether you're religious or not, and that the New Year brings with it prosperity and success in all your endeavours.

We'll be celebrating at the Neuwerk Festivals in Cologne and Berlin on December 26th and 27th and then ringing in the new year with some good friends and lots of loud music.

2010 is most certainly going to be a busy year for VNV. The "Great Divide EP" is nearing completion and will be out in February, the way it looks now. Not only does the artwork look wonderful but, the remixes by VNV Nation and other artists, as well as the inclusion of some unreleased tracks, will assure that there is something for everyone on there.

We've also set the timeframe for the next North American tour, which will be something that both fans of VNV, as well as fans of dance-industrial and Electro EBM as a whole, should be pleasantly surprised by when they see what's planned. Dates and details will be posted as soon as it's all finalised.

We're also going to be coming to Spain at the end of Spring.

In July we'll be playing as one of the headliners at the Amphi Festival in Cologne. Then comes the highly anticipated "One By One" festivals with Unheilig and other artists, which will take place in various locations around Germany.

There will also be a number of "extended and enhanced" re-releases coming in 2010, with lots (and we mean lots) of extras.

And there's a new album in the works.

I hope that's enough to keep you going for the moment.

Again, our best wishes to you and your loved ones. Stay safe over the holidays and we'll see you very soon.

Ronan and Mark.

Latest Euro Tour update - Oct 1st

We've added a 2nd London show as the show at the Academy is a few tickets from being sold out. See our other blog post with information.

So far, all the shows have had huge audiences, particularly in Germany and Austria where we've seen the largest audiences we've ever had. Most of the shows were sold out; Erfurt, Krefeld, both Frankfurt shows, Berlin, Dresden, Magedburg and Dortmund, and Vienna.

Tonight is our German Finale show in Hamburg. We can't wait.

Holland, Belgium, England, Scotland and Greece - see you soon!

German fans can vote on www.vnvnation.de for rarely performed, never before performed or specific versions of songs that they want to hear at each of VNV Nation's shows at the Neuwerk Festivals in December 09 (Berlin and Cologne). The songs with the most votes will be added to the regular setlist. If it's not on the list, we're probably playing it anyway. More information HERE.

Current mood:  disappointed
We were extremely sorry to have had to postpone the shows in Belgrade and Zagreb.

At the Croatian border, the Customs officials refused us entry, when coming in from Slovenia. In their opinion, our musical equipment was not our personal equipment (yes it is, who else should it belong to?) and thus we would need special export documentation or pay a large amount of money. Staff at the border were being very tough with cars coming through, that morning, and we suspect it was a question of being there at the wrong time. We have been told by all the promoters we know in both countries that, something like this happens very rarely with bands coming into Croatia or Serbia. The only suggestion from Croatian Customs was that we drive around Croatia and enter Serbia through Hungary, a distance of 800km. This would not have guaranteed entry nor would it have solved the problem of getting back through Croatia. Had we driven around, we wouldn't have made it in time for the Belgrade show anyway and there was a risk that it would affect all the following days. We waited in Slovenia while the promoter in Zagreb and our Tour Manager worked all day trying to find a solution to get us through. Unfortunately, this didn't work out, though the Zagreb promoter deserves a medal for the long hours he spent at the border, as well as on the phone, trying to make it happen.

We have spoken with both promoters about rescheduling the shows and are working on suitable dates.

Again, our sincerest apologies to anyone affected.

regards,
Ronan and Mark

YouTube
: our YT channel is finally up at www.youtube.com/channelvnv

But, more importantly..

For all you Gamers - many of you know what Machinima is. If not, it's the art of making videos/short movies using staged sequences within games and the cinematics, etc. At www.machinima.com you'll find hundreds of such videos for the best games, complete with a great array of talent providing the music. You can see where I'm going with this, can't you. So, the track "The Great Divide", from the fabulous new VNV album, is the music used in their new video for the game "Aion". The Youtube stats for the video in just 2 days are incredible. Have a gander for yourself http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qS5ZE9V-Zko&feature=player_profilepage

More from VNV to come on machinima.com

all the best,
Ronan

Our plan, till now, was to run the 2nd part of the North American tour in November but some factors and logistics have gotten in the way of that so, we're moving it back tour 2 months, to early February. The upside is that it ties in with some other plans we'd been working on and this gives us a chance to turn this into something much bigger than we'd originally planned, which is good for everyone.

Stay tuned and I'll let you know more as soon as I know.

Ronan

You'll find all the lyrics from the new album, and all our other albums, HERE

"Art of Conflict" is not listed as the lyrics are excerpts from Sun Tzu's "Art of War" which we would prefer to recommend as one of the great many books that you might enjoy reading.

After you're done with that, you might like to check out Haruki Murakami, a modern alternative fiction writer from Japan. Having been a fan for years, I never stop recommending his work.

And you may wonder why this post became the "VNV Nation book of the month club" but I suspect some of you do enjoy reading books so why not, eh? It's that or I just write "ciao, Ronan" and be done with it. This seemed a bit more informative.

ciao,
Ronan

Hi there,

During the North American tour, we recorded 4 songs for Fearless Music TV, at their studio in New York. You can see the episodes where we were featured here

Episode 7-36W - In Defiance (live)
Episode 7-37W - Illusion (live) - we're the poll winners played at the end of the show

As a bonus, they also show us performing "The great divide" during the outro credits of the previous episode.

Episode 7-35W - The Great Divide (live) - right at the end

Fearless Music TV is on Saturday nights at 12:30am on Fox 5 in New York City, and if you don't live in the area, check out the time and channel listing at the Fearless Music website to find out when and where else it airs: http: / / www. fearlessmusic. com/ channels/
Each show is uploaded to Youtube, one week after it is show on TV, so all of you who don't live in the NYC area can see it.

Best wishes,

Ronan

Hi all,

Thanks for all your kind wishes, concerned messages about my leg.

It seems I turned too fast, when I was on stage in Portland, and damaged my calf muscle. I hobbled through the show, which was still one of the funniest, most emotional and best shows ever. I saw a doctor and physiotherapist in Seattle. The prognosis is that the calf muscle was damaged but not too seriously. I have a rubber knee brace and some instructions to look after it (massage, regular beatings and waterboarding). I am being careful but I barely noticed it at the show in Seattle, where I still got to move all over the place, with a mild limp (which makes me look like some evil villain in a bond movie, so that's a bonus) and it's even better today. It's healing very fast. Still, I want to be careful so I won't be doing the "ring of fire" section of the show and my usual breakdancing/riverdance dance routines have to be cut from the VNV performance *lol* I've never broken a bone and am in general good health, so things like this almost never happen to me. Had it been bad, which it's not, I still would have managed to hang on to a mic stand to do shows.

Thanks again for all your concern. All is well.

best regards,
Ronan

p.s. I do wish to add, under pressure I might add, that Gabe Shaw is awesome.

p.p.s Krischan, Jokke, Nick, Clem, Scott, Luke, Mike and Jurassic Mark are all pretty f'n damn awesome too.
