Bel Canto want to wish you a happy new year in 2009!

For the first time in years both Anneli and Nils are living in the same city. We will not start any new rumours here, but DO NOT rule out possible new collaborations between the two. They're still good friends, you know?

No, they never said that they'd quit as Bel Canto, but it was necessary to do other things through the years. After all, Bel Canto was formed many many years ago...

Come back to MySpace and Bel Canto's home page later in 2009. And if you're new to Bel Canto, you should know that the music is both timeless and constantly available on CD's and in other digital formats.

Before you leave, take a look at some YouTube video history too. In the eighties, Geir Jenssen and Anneli and Nils pretty much created their own ideas for the music videos. Watch "Birds of Passage" from the beautiful fjord of "Ersfjorden", outside of Tromsoe. It's VERY Geir and Anneli and Nils :-)

When some of the stash guys wanted to direct videos in the nineties, Anneli and Nils went with the flow, because they're really cool people who will give other creative souls a chance. And those videos are period pieces too..

But "Birds of Passage" is what Bel Canto was about in the old days. Enjoy :-)

Yes, here we are, the dinosaurs from the 80´s , still alive and kicking synthetic bass drums like never before. Have you ever seen us live or do you have a special bel canto story/memory you want to share with us? Yes, it's true, we played the Rockefeller Music Hall in Oslo again. We have done so before, many times, but it's been a while and this is not our most active gigging period ;D

The info was listed under upcoming shows in this MySpace profile and the gig went well.

She has been an artist for 20 years and has a.o. released albums on Peter Gabriel´s label Womad. She has currently a new album out and you can get a pre listen on her MySpace profile by clicking on her picture on "my top 8 friends" below, on this profile.
The album Gula Gula is one of her best sellling albums.
Mari Boine is a sami and comes from Lappland. She sings in sami and english.

For all our beloved mexican fans!
In addition to the release of our second last album "RUSH", there will be arranged a release party in MexicoCity next saturday, the 17th of june.
