This. Is. Hot.

Lawrence Lessig, Stanford law professor, free culture paladin, social change advocate -- man, in short, about the technology activist town -- has just been officially confirmed to keynote the upcoming DemocracyInAction Community Conference.

The conference takes place June 26-27 in Washington, D.C.; Lessig will address the morning plenary on Friday, June 27th .. Congress". Maybe you caught him at the recent National Conference on Media Reform?

Change Congress

You'll find him on the expanded agenda also just released.

Did we mention (repeatedly?) that that's on top of two days' wall-to-wall Salsa training, online strategizing, and elbow rubbing with the best and brightest?

Did we mention there are only three days left to register?

It's been two years since Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast, and, thanks to many nonprofits, community groups, and concerned citizens, help is in sight. We'd like to help the groups working on the ground in the aftermath of Katrina make the most of their efforts.

DemocracyInaction has always striven to level the playing field for nonprofits. Why pour money into technology that you could be pumping into programs and resources?

*We're offering another round of DIA Empowers Grants to commemorate the two year anniversary of Katrina and to highlight and support the efforts of the nonprofits working to revive the Gulf Coast. Grantees will receive one free year of DemocracyInaction's advocacy platform, Salsa. *

Please apply for the grant here.

If you know of another worthy organization that should apply, send them a message here.

Check out our blog to get the DIA Quicktips strategy guides. We get requests often on how people are actually using the DIA tools to effectively make change in their communities. There's a ton of guides out there, and we jumped on that bandwagon with --hopefully-- a progressive bend on gettin' things done online.
