Our 4th annual One In A Million is up and running! This year the voting on the website will make a top 5 cut, all of whom will be brought on a week-long road trip to skate together on the west coast while traveling and staying in the ultra-deluxe Volcom RV. The skater who gets the best stuff during that week will be this year's winner, with the full interview in the mag, the one-time pro model and the whole kit. Click here to vote! Bring it on!

The new blogs are going live on www.slapmagazine.com I'll try to post 'em here but for the most up to day info visit the Slap website.
i have a blog (mark)
i have no idea what i'm doing, but i have a blog now, which seems to be how that scenario goes from what i can tell. i'll try to post up pictures, stories and hopefully music with some regularity because i know how important it is to the survival of the free world. here's some stuff. yay for me.
here's a photo of jason jessee with an eight-foot-tall sculpture of a snake he made. watch for a "portfolio" article/interview with jason in the july mag. one of my all time favorites and then some.
i went to sacramento a few weeks ago to shoot with omar salazar for an upcoming "skate bros" interview with him, stefan and biebel. jack curtin and judd hertzler were there and ripping too. here's a photo of all the media gear bags at the spot between myself and filmers greg hunt and chris ray. when i saw this pile i felt like an idiot.
that's tony silva doing a hardflip on the spine/bump spot in the presidio. tony came with benny fairfax, olly todd and chris pastras to skate SF for a few days, and that's what they did. now i will attempt some music: there was a fun marc johnson part that got later'd due to some politics, but in it he skated to this song, "the golden path" by the chemical brothers. listen anybody remember markovich's part in the color video? listen van morrison is incredible. here's a live version of "dweller on the threshold" from 1982. listen "the squid and the whale" is a weird and cool movie, and this lou reed song plays during the credits- "street hassle". listen "true romance" is a totally awesome movie from about 1993. written by quentin tarantino before he blew up. christian slater was actually good in it, and patricia arquette is just a little bit hot in it. it's also got cameos from dennis hopper, gary oldman and the god, christopher walken. this song plays periodically throughout the movie and has always seemed pretty awesome to me. listen thus concludes my blog test.

I think some SLAP PALS are going to have to take this blog over! I was supposed to go to the opening night of Morrissey on Friday night in Stockton with Sally SLAP, but her tickets never came. She bought them on eBay and I guess the dude screwed her. Oh well, she's going to the next three Morrissey shows! Who knew Sally SLAP was such a dedicated Mozz fan? My wife and I made the drive up in rush hour from San Jose to the Bob Hope theater in wonderful Stockton.
The opening band was some chick on a Casio keyboard and a drummer. They were whatevs. They were bummed because no one cared about them. Damn right, we want Morrissey! The venue was assigned seats, but people were like, "Fuck that, we want to stand in front of the stage." Security was harsh and kicked people out, but when the lights lowered people barged the stage (including me) and we secured our spots in the Mozz sweat zone.
Morrissey came out and it was pure craziness. Fuck assigned seating, it's Morrissey and we need to touch his hand and feel his sweat! Guys and chicks were jumping on stage to touch and hug Mozz. Some got by the bouncers, but a lot of people just got served. I helped lift people up on stage. Girls (in skirts mind you) were trying to get up and would ask you to lift them up and push their butts up in the air so they could reach the stage. I was there to assist. Morrissey almost touched us too! (Peep cell phone photos.)

When he threw his shirt it landed on my wife. She avoided damage while 10 dudes and one chick spent the next 15 minutes holding on to the wet button-up shirt for dear life. Finally they all ripped it into 11 perfectly even pieces. I touched it. I got a guitar pick too, from the band, bro. It's a '"greatest hits" tour so it was all the hits: "Suedhead," "Everyday is Like Sunday." Even a few Smiths tracks like "How Soon Is Now." It was so good. Except at the encore some drunk dude got carried away and while he was barging the stage and hugging Morrissey he tried to rip off Mozz' shirt.

He almost brought Morrissey and his grey pompadour hair to the ground, so the bouncers got on the dude and Morrissey broke out, exit stage right. It was a crappy way to end the show. People were like, "Thanks for ruining the show, asshole." It was sweet. I want to go tomorrow night in SF. Anyone want to take me? —Erik
