Why go? The weather outside may be growing cold, but the morale of the jam spirit remains high. Bayan almost had his guitar pawned by a pothead. Adam's strings have gone dead on BOTH his basses. And yet, the smiles cannot be wiped from their faces. The set list is all but ready for performance, with a few stray "holes" that have yet to be thrusted in terms of preparation (kudos to our low-lying friend ). We would just like to formally announce our upcoming showcase in the Big Smoke to occur on the 19th of December at the El Mo. Come for the warm reception, fuzzy wool sweaters, and synthesizer projectiles; stay for the muzak. A formal event will be posted shortly. (A note from the lab: We will shortly announce in detail the chemical reaction that led to the creation of the science community's most extraordinary phenomenon. Stay tuned for a lesson in paranormal biology!)
Respect from the Kid, Bayan, Otello, Adam, & nameless Journey cover band drummer

Current mood: sassy
"The people march onward, blood-splattered banners in hand and determination in their hearts..."
Well, that wasn't too shabby of an introduction, now was it?
Kid Metropolis would like to extend a warm thank you to some of the miscellaneous environmental factors that have been a great influence upon us in these trying times.
*sob, sob*
Anyways, here they are!
1) The Decibel House Guy: You are the man. Your weed-induced thought patterns, watering eyes, and countless instances of appearing at unforseen moments are an inspiration to us all. We especially cherish the time when you sat in the middle of the parking lot on a chair, pondering reality under waveforms of cannabis. We don't need to mention the wonderful gear and dwelling space you supply our band with for those scarce few hours during the week, and your slurred reaction time just adds to the experience. Once again, a very warm thank you.
Remember kids, "Don't fuck around!"
2) The inexpensive shiraz: Ordering a Double Quarter Pounder (without ketchup OR mustard) has never been so obscenely difficult or entertaining. You can thank Bayan's trunk for that, as well as the plastic cups and warm weather. And our bass player for his experiences.
3) The aroma of the practice room: The lack of an air purification system allows for some truly fantastic out-of-body experiences. A surprise was always in store.
"Hey guys, am I the only one that smells that foul stench?" Probably not. You know who you are ;)
4) Our jam neighbors: No comment. (Movement II: Some Savage Bastard Farted In My Face In 6/4, Followed Up By A Round of 21/8, And Whatever Else You Want To Throw In)
5) Our fans: We acknowledge the sheer strength of the Kid Metropolis fanbase. We also acknowledge that there are about 36 of you. Keep up the good work.
6) The man who grew a clitoris: We generally like to save the best for last. And in this situation, we definitely have. We wink our eyes in your general direction for your incredible ability to achieve the impossible. Editors Note: Apparently The man who grew a clitoris (from here on in known as TMWGAC) has been stalking, lurking, watching and found our comments about said man-child derogatory - well boo hoo! Live by the clitoris, die by the clitoris friendo.
We'd like to close off by announcing a public display of force to occur on the evening of Saturday, December 19th, in that wonderful establishment known as "The El Mocambo". We politely tip our hats towards all the people (and otherwise) who have been supporting us thus far.
"Seb, we don't need a Journey ending to every song!"

Yes, here we are again alive and breathing. Kid Metropolis as it is. Over the past few months we have taken recluse at the "Sound of Decibel". We've been rehearsing, writing, rehearsing, flatulating, rehearsing, consuming inexpensive shiraz, rehearsing; essentially a living, breathing, organism. We have been rejuvenated. Heck, Bayan looks like he's 12 again, it's ghastly! We are making an announcement for those of you who still care (and we know there are about 36 of you), Kid Metropolis will be playing in Toronto, the T-dot, the Big Smoke, etc. before this year is up. Please join us for a celebration in rebirth and welcoming our new rhythm section - Sebastian and Adam to the realm of Kid M. We promise to share all the details of the show as they're finalized.
"You're one step closer to what you never wanted.. breathe, think, think, where'd they hide the gun?"

Current mood: enlightened
The tribe has spoken.
At last, the night has been despelled, and a new day has dawned upon the life & times of Kid Metropolis. Welcoming two new band members & their unique abilities, namely the abstract, low-string antics of the wonderful particle form known as Adam Piotrowicz, and the over-the-top, diva-like percussion stylings of Sebastian "Sweetheart" Cavicchia, Kid Metropolis has once again been revived from an indefinite sleep. In addition to making music, the entity of Kid Metropolis now seeks to:
a) run in & win the next US federal election b) dominate your mother's cooking c) create the perfectly seasoned slice of Saudi Arabian tuna pie d) write to Bob Costas and let him know that Elvis lives
Like a finely prepared piece of Nigerian ash-toast, Kid Metropolis aims to attain a higher state of being; to be one with the many hamsters that inhabit every home in suburban North America.
Keep an eye out for gigs and new material, hopefully coming your way within the nearest while. We thank friends & enemies alike for their continuing support.
Fate has called. Will you answer?
-KM

Current mood: electric
There have been some major changes as of late here in the and of Metropolis. We’ll be introducing some new band members very soon with some shows to follow. We’ve also said ‘so long’ to Mike and Julian.
Even more exciting is the news we just received that we’ll be featured on the very prominent CD website www.cdbaby.com. "Future_Future” has been chosen as the Editor’s Pick for the week of February 16, 2009. We’ll post the link on Monday but in the meantime here’s an excerpt of the email we received from the site:
Bayan -
We love your "KID METROPOLIS: Future Future" CD so much that we're going to feature it on the CD Baby front page for a day, and in our Editor's Picks section from now on.
We're *really* picky about what we feature. We receive about 300 new albums a DAY, (over 300,000 total), and yours is one of the best we've ever heard.
Here's the pertinent info:
THE DATE YOUR CD WILL BE ON THE FRONT PAGE OF CDBABY.COM (This is the big day - make a note of it somewhere.) Monday, February 16th 2009
--
Hence, we move onward and upward. Women and children, let’s go!

Our rambunctious percussionist, Renaissance Latin translator-extraordinaire, M. Randall Rumeo is on the injured-reserved mending an old/new war wound but he’ll be back soon. However feel free to send him your well-wishes here. In case anyone is interested in the Toronto-area, our CD’s are now available at Soundscapes located on 572 College St. and She Said Boom on 393 Roncesvalles Ave. ($9.99) ---- To keep the juices a flowin’ we’ll be posting another song from the Future_Future collection. Lifeblood. A somewhat religious anomaly about the 12th century politikal stronghold by one Peter Abelard and his quest to be with his true love, his on-again-off-again love affair/relationship with the lovely Heloise. Their love for one another remained one and true through numerous perils and tribulations – a lesson for us all: past, present and Future. Here’s an expert taken from one their love letters which we later used as the romantic discourse known as Lifeblood. We credit Bayan’s profound antique love letter collection for the providing the insight and liberation into creating this. Lifeblood (aka time and space were paralyzed) How I long to feel something pure, and something greater than the mundane days of this life Faith is something that we cannot choose, rather it chooses us, encompasses and silences life How we long to numb all their pain, and tear away from the apathetic days of our lives Ironically, we refuse and shun any cure, wear a veil and slowly we except all the lies How can we close our eyes and pretend that we don't live in a crumbling degenerate state? When all around us are a signs of a falling world, and God is used as a scapegoat to cover our pain Do you justify every night? Does it bring you comfort, bring you solace? Do you pray through their blood? Do you think it will save you now? Through their bloodshed -- screaming out your name But you don't hear them do you? Baby you still have their lifeblood, coursing through your veins You'll never hear them, will you love? quiet angels, (give me a) K-I-D-M!, Kid M, Kid M, Kid M!

some new tunes on the player today, check it out and give us a holla. Just a friendly reminder, Kid Metropolis will be playing BLANK-FEST this Saturday December 6 at the El Mocambo, KM is on stage around 9pm!
A final exert from the How-To-Guide on Eliminating Evil Sprits - Section 23B, the concluding section titled ‘The thrill of modern postism!’:
Even atoms have tiny magnetic fields. In the Kid Metropolis model of an atom, electrons orbit the nucleus. The constant change in their motion gives rise to a magnetic field. Permanent magnets have measurable magnetic fields because the atoms and molecules in them are arranged in a way that their individual magnetic fields align, combining to form large aggregate fields. In this model, the lack of a single pole makes intuitive sense; cutting a bar magnet in half does nothing to the arrangement of the molecules within. The end result is two magnetic bars whose atoms have the same orientation as before, and therefore generate a magnetic field with the same orientation as the original larger magnet, formally known as The Kid Metropolis.
Same bat-time, same bat-channel,
The Kids

Current mood:micro organic
We’re keeping the motor running – a blog dedicated to the show will be posted later in the week with all the details, band(s), etc. about the show. In the meantime here’s a quixotic translation of a song from “A Blueprint for Modern Life” titled I Am a Microbe. The song eventually became an instrumental number but the original idea for the libretto deal with the scope of human being-s as “microorganisms in a macro environment”, inclusive to the repercussions of dealing with complexity in an emotional state. And that's just it - my mind has always been my Achilles' heel! I Am a Microbe - Je Suis un Microbe
L'homme est la somme de toutes ses actions
Capable évoluer mais incapable d'exister
Désolé et cassé hearted
Quelle parole vous alors? Vous avez non langue?
Je dis, 'Il n'est aucun homme du tout, Il est un microbe”

The concluding section of the How-to-Guide on eliminating evil spirits, written entirely in 14th century Renaissance Latin and translated by our very own Michael “Miguel” Rumeo. Section 18C – subtitled “The Cry of Humanists” reads as follows:
I am mighty. I have a glow you cannot see. I have a heart as big as the cosmos. As warm as bathwater. We are supermen - champions of L.O.V.E, and we don't have time to be charming. We're watching the big picture, friend. We know the score. We are a public service, not captains of industry. Keep your vulgar moneys. We are the righteousness in your karma sandwich

Little Red Devil (Il Empecé)
Play, play again it’s all a game
She’s my little red devil and I’m caught in her snare again
She’s my little red devil and she’s twisting my words again
Plain Jane says I am tame
She’s my little white devil and she’s turning her angel tricks
She’s my little white devil and she’s blowing her angel dust
Chorus:
Tell me woman are you out of your mind? (my little red devil and I’m caught in her snare again)
Tell me woman you must be out of your mind, yet can’t leave you behind
Dark and strange, says I am vain
She’s my little black devil and she’s killing my buzz again
She’s my little black devil and she’s turning her voodoo tricks
Where are we? Where are we going?

another plot from the lyrical diarrhea tirade, the soon-to-be-posted Lovers/Vigilantes. the song deals with the notion of abstract objects, theoretic models, language, music and even knowledge itself with respect to the passage of time as a spatial relationship.. go figure
Lovers/ Vigilantes (The Departed in 7/4)
I remember chasing it through fields of amber and summer skies of grey....
Then September came and swiftly stole you suddenly and I’ve never felt the same
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. Years of carrying your ghost
..never let me heal
I remember, top down, the wind was blowing through our hair, and we felt so alive
Cigarettes, Radiohead, and conversations through the night and through the dawn
I held you in my arms, so tight as if to say,
I am a ghost without your love
This town is tainted with the smell of vigilantes in love
You know that I have never felt much of anything
But I am a ghost without your love
And I cannot defend the words or erase the things what I have done
It seems our lives are intertwined, like some spider web
They say we’re too old for change and this whole world’s going nowhere fast and it’s a goddamn shame you never fell in love but I’d like to thank you for all your hard work.
More big and exciting news tomorrow à la KM, you kids will be very excited about this one!
