The
Sunday Roast goes Global!
One of
Dublin best loved live music clubs moves to a new home – The Globe on Georges
St, D2 - from Sunday May 31st. The Sunday Roast has been serving a
feast of live music, games and free roast potatoes for over five years and this
move sees it expanding its menu and improving its recipes to bring a feast of
fun to starved Sunday night revelers.
In our
new, dedicated games room we have a fussball table, giant Jenga and Connect 4
and our favourite beer swilling activity – darts, along with the usual
cornucopia of board games. Our famous roast potatoes will be cooked in the
finest olive oils from around the Globe and we will also be calling on our black
book of guest DJ’s to keep you dancing till the wee hours.
It’s our
live musical treats that have provided the foundation for a rollicking five
years on the go and this summer our line-up is sunshine for the soul with a
feast of fat funky grooves and sparkling indie pop bands for your listening
pleasure.

A Good OUL Dublin Coddle- by the fade street bums
Loved by some, hated by others, and virtually unknown by the upper classes, coddle is thee traditional dish of Dublin.
A very easy meal to make, and can feed an entire army in just about an hour of cooking.
Ingredients:
1 lb of ham chunks 1 lb of butchers sausages carrots potatoes lentils
Method:
Basically place all of the above into a large pot with enough water to cover. Only put a few spoons full of lentils in, and be careful that the potatoes don't start to become too mushy as this can make it quite thick (or maybe hats what you want).
Cook for a little under an hour, checking that the ham chunks are cooked right through.
Serve in a bowl with a little black pepper on top, and thick cut buttered bread on the side for dippin'.
Coddle is also Tastier the day after you make it!! so if you do have any left keep it for lunch tomorrow, you will not regret it.

Fish sambos for 5000 By The Lonely Schizophrenic 5 Loaves of bread (preferably Pat the Baker) 2 very large fish (Whale shark perhaps?) 1 Messiah (1 x Jesus Christ,Son of God) 5000 Hungry people (this is only a serving suggestion you may susbstitue your own bread, fish and Messiah as you see fit but the sambo will not have that same crispy Christian flavour or texture to it) 1 - Get the people to sit in groups of 50 for easier distribution of the sambos and to make sure nobody gets anymore then one. 2 - Get your messiah to bless the bread and fish and then begin to break them up into even pieces. Atthis stage it is is wise to find out how many people like salt on their fish or take butter on their bread as we dont want food going to waste. 3 - Distribute the bread and fish untill everyone has eaten their fill. 4 - Tidy up time.Feeding 5000 people can be a little messy so make sure you leave the feeding area as you found it.Gather all up all unused food and please note, the last time we used this recipe there were 12 baskets of bread left over so if you have a little garlic you can utilise fiach's home made garlic bread recipe so no food goes to waste.Wasting food is a sin.
