What a crazy two weeks its been!

We started out in Okeechobee Florida for a clinic with the High School and concert that night. The next day we made our way over to Miami for another Concert at the Florida International University. There we had friend and former DB Trumpeter Jose Sibaja come up and play Buglers Holiday with us! Good times. This was also a very, very..VERY happy day for Jeff. You see, the next day we were going to Germany and Jeff didnt exactly have his passport yet. It was the oldest excuse in the book (his dog ate his old one) and his replacement, which he had ordered a month ago, had yet to arrive. I have to say, for a guy who was about to miss a trip to Germany, he stayed pretty calm. It was only when his passport showed up at the last minute that we saw how much he had been worried about not getting it in time! Lemme tell you, he was one happy drummer!!

Anyway... we finally made it to Germany (with Jeff) and proceeded to have an awesome time! We went to the factory where our Accent instruments are made, played a great concert, took some great tours, and did our fair share of partying... heheh...

Next it was off to Oskaloosa Iowa to record our new album. This has been a long time coming and we are all really exited for everyone to hear it! The recording Hall was great and it was fun to reunite with John Wasson, former DB Tubist and primary arranger of most of our music. By the way, if you ever find yourself in Oskaloosa, the DB recommends eating at Spaghettis. Another good hang is the Walmart next to the Comfort Inn (They have a guitar hero 2 display with two controllers) The album should be available sometime in January... we'll keep ya posted!

Till next time-

Howdy!

First off, gotta say sorry its been so long! We've been pretty busy.. and I've been slacking on the bloggin. We just arrived in Florida for a concert in Okeechobee (heheh... I like to say that) and one in Miami. After that, its off to Germany for some Dunkles and Brats! That makes me happy. Anyway, we'll be there for about 5 days and then its off to Iowa to record a new album. The album should be out by Christmas time... but it wont be a Christmas album-- You'll hear everything from the show and then some!

Oh yeah, in other news... we have a new drummer! err, I mean, Percussionist! His name is Jeff Handel and he is a wonderful addition to the group. Jeff lives in South Carolina and has played with many outstanding musicians throughout his career. Prior to joining us, Jeff had spent four years with Tony and Emmy Award winning Broadway show Blast He is also a PSP junkie like me and Nat, so.... now you know why he got the gig!

Well... off to do a clinic and a concert, so good luck to everyone and I'll talk to ya soon!

So Summer is here at last, and so is a long awaited break from the road! Now don't get me wrong... we love the road- all the concerts, the people we meet and new places to see, but there's something to be said for being home for more than a week at a time! Now, for us in the DB, a summer break means many different things-

Lets take our fearless leader for example... Mike is never off the road... and the summertime is no exeption. He is always here and there visiting friends around the country and doing all the fun inside DB business stuff that we dont have to do and he does cause he's the big cheese! This is no doubt what he'll be doing for the few months that we have off... well... that and figuring out his new computer! (he's still getting used to the mac thing)

Meanwhile, Brian will be with his family in Sitka, Alaska teaching at a summer music camp/festival out there. I'm jealous. and if you've been to Sitka, you know what I mean! I heard he's got a recording project in the works too, so iffin you like the Trumpet, you might just have a new album to check out soon!

DJ, well... DJ just had his 5th little one a couple days ago, so, I think it's pretty safe to assume he'll be spending time at home with the fam. I hope that little girl likes the sound of the trumpet cause DJ practices about 20 hours a day...heheh... maybe he'll write a variations on some lullabye-

Nat will be teaching at a Music School in California for the summer, and no doubt throwing down some PS2 while he's at it. When PS3 comes out it's gonna be on... and you can bet it' gonna be on Nat I swear man I'll.... uh, yeah, we're not competative at all.

As for me, you'll find me at the Venitian in Las Vegas playing the new Phantom of the Opera. Other than that, and some other gigs I'm gonna bowl. Yeah, bowl... and play darts.. and if anyone feels up to the challenge, you know where to find me!

Well, I guess you know what we're up to this summer- we will be getting together for a few days to play a show and premiere a new peice in Orlando Florida, but besides that, it's all fun and games-

Till next time-

Hey there everyone-

So here we are... 5 days, 9 clinics, and 3 concerts later! A good time was had by all in Rogers, Ar. We worked with over 900 kids and still had time to do some hangin and check out some movies! (thanks for the recommendations by the way)!

After Rogers, we flew to Wisconsin to play a concert in Verona, which happens to be right near Madison... Nats home town. Needless to say, much time was spent at the local drinking establishments and bowling lanes- The Verona concert was especially fun because we pretty much all had people we knew there... Including members of the Youngblood Brass Band and Mark Hetzler (trombonist with Empire Brass).

We're now in Green Bay, where all we've done is rehearse, eat and play an intense game of hearts... that Chris won by the way... long live the king! Well, we're gonna go grab some cheese curds now and go play a few more concerts, so thanks for stoppin by, and we'll talk to you soon-

Current mood:  excited
So, after a well deserved little break the DB is at it again!

Lets see... We all had some interesting stuff going on during our break-

Nat did a week of touring with his Tuba quartet "Sotto Voce". They spent the week in California bouncing back and forth between L.A. and San Fransisco.
Chris played an all Beethoven concert with the Las Vegas Philharmonic, then flew to Florida to play a gig in Boca Raton with former Florida Philharmonic principal trumpeter Jeff Kaye and former Dallas Brass member Dan Satterwhite. Brian spent time with his family and played a televised Easter gig. He also found some time to perform a Bach Cantata too...
But of out of everyone Mike probably had the most exiting break! He bought a new computer... finally! It was a big move for him changing to a Mac Powerbook from his old Dell, but we finally convinced him. Now that Brian has converted to Mac from his previous Dell, everyone in the DB now uses Macs! Well, it was exciting for us at least...

Now we're in Rogers, AR and excited to be back at it! We'll be playing a concert tonight and doing clinics all tomorrow. Oh yeah... our presenter has notified us that he is good friends with the manager of the Movie Theatre that just happens to be right next to our hotel. So, I guess we have a free pass to the movies whenever we want, which is awesome- any suggestions on what to see?
