Current mood:  blissful
Hi friends!

I’ve been on a bit of a brain vacation the last month or so. Sorry I’ve been out of touch, but I’ve been doing some really cool things like, for instance, getting married! I have been relishing the last month at home with my new husband and our garden and our kitchen and it’s been wonderful.

But by the end of this month, I’ll be back out on the road to visit you on an eight week tour, and I’m looking forward to that as well. Check out the tour schedule for new dates being added daily and let me know when I’ll be seeing YOU!

In the meantime, check out this awesome review of my Hotel Cafe show in LA at the end of the summer tour. Thanks, LA Music Blog. :)

I’ll be in touch soon. I hope y’all are well. Lots of love –shannon

Hi, guys! Big news today! And a drum roll please........

Why Don't You Stay? Now Available on iTunes and AmieStreet
Today is the "offical" release day, so do you know what that means? You can start downloading my brand-bew EP -- produced by Grammy-winner Charlie Peacock -- RIGHT NOW on iTunes and AmieStreet. All the other digital retailers are also coming online as we speak, so feel free to peruse your fav digital download site for it. Whoo-hoo! Let's go shopping!

Attention bargain hunters: AmieStreet's the place for you
On AmieStreet, all newly released songs start out free, increasing in price as the number of downloads go up. And if you "recommend" a song when it's just starting out and it goes up, up, up in price, you'll actually gain credit on AmieStreet to purchase more music. Brilliant. So, go get your songs on the cheap and spread the love! Oh, and for one week only, you can get the title track "Why Don't You Stay?" for free-fifty-free. :)

Vlog, Summer Tour 2009, Episode 2
Watch it here! I hear it's the smash hit of the summer. ;)

Hello, friends!

Summer is ON! I watched the 4th fireworks from high up on a hill above Los Angeles and saw about 20 different displays happening all at once. It was so exciting! And I am SO excited that July is here. It is time to rock and roll, boys and girls! In this newsletter, I've got some really fun news to report and a couple opportunities for you to get involved. Ready? Set? Let's go!

Official Why Don't You Stay Digital Release July 14
Starting Tuesday, July 14th, you'll be able to download Why Don't You Stay? from AmieStreet.com. The first people to download the album will actually get it for free! That's how AmieStreet works -- the more popular a song becomes, the more it costs, up to $.99. Bargain hunters get up early! Like day after Thanksgiving shopping. ;) iTunes downloads will follow shortly after.

Los Angeles, Come Get Your FREE CD Friday, July 10!
We're havin' a party and I'm bringing the gifts! The CD release party is Friday, July 10, 8pm, at Molly Malone's on 6th and Fairfax in Los Angeles. With your $8 admission, you'll get yours truly live on the piano, a copy of the new EP, and a great time! Bring friends! See you there!

Me + A Video Camera = My New Vlog
Heck, yeah! I've started a video blog especially for the summer tour! The first episode was posted last night -- in it, I get the itch to show off a sneak peek of the new EP that was delivered yesterday, and while I'm at it I give a tour of the music room in my house. Watch it on The Shannon Curtis Channel or at shannoncurtis.net! I'll be posting from my Jetta on the road, so if you want to get up-to-the-minute updates on new Vlog posts, start following me on Twitter! Stay tuned to the Vlog throughout the tour for special Vlog-only contests and interactive opportunities. Heehee! Fun!

New Tour Dates Posted, Including THE HOTEL CAFE!!!
Since I last wrote, I've added shows in Denton TX, Tucson AZ, San Diego CA, and ....... drum roll please ..... my debut show at The Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles!! The Hotel Cafe is the most famous singer/songwriter venue in LA and I'll be sharing the stage on Saturday, August 22nd with Tony Lucca, Jay Nash, and Terra Naomi. Mark your calendars, kids! Detailed info is on my MySpace calendar and always updated at shannoncurtis.net/tour.

Looking For More Bloggers
Are you a blogger? If so, wanna blog about my new CD and summer tour? Email me and I'll get you all the info you'll need. Tell me when your blog has been published, and I'll link to it from my website and my newsletter. Thank you so much to those of you who have already expressed interest in helping get the word out this way. I apprecaite you!!

Will You Help Me Promote The Summer Tour?
You won't have to get dirty. No knocking door-to-door (well, unless you're EXTRA motivated, a little nuts, or nostalgic for your Boy/Girl Scout days). This is what I ask of you: will you email, send Facebook invitations to, call/text/messenger-pigeon your friends, family, co-workers about the show I'm doing in your city? That's all! And if you want to go the extra mile, check out the schedule and see if there are other cities I'm going where you know folks and let them know about the show there. I can't do this without you -- I REALLY need your help spreading the love. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

New Lyrics Page and Farewell For Now
Lastly, some of you have asked from time to time about where you can get Shannon Curtis lyrics. Well, now it's as easy as apple pie: shannoncurtis.net/lyrics.
Guys and gals -- thank you so much for your endless support and encouragement of the music I make. I am blessed to have you in my life and to be invited into your world to share music with you. I can't wait to see you and play for you this summer! Here are the places on the internets you will find me, even when I'm on the road:

See you soon!

Hey, hey, everybody! I hope you're doing good. I'm feeling great -- the sun's back out, the jacarandas are dripping purple blossoms all over Los Angeles, and I'm getting excited for summer!! Whoo-hoo! I have some very cool updates, so read on, my friends, read on...

New EP, new video page up on ShannonCurtis.net

Yep, yep! Come on over to my website and you can listen to the new EP Why Don't You Stay? front to back, top to bottom, and it sounds waaaay better than the mp3s on MySpace. ;) The official release is July 14th -- I'll be bringing physical copies with me on tour all over the US and digital sales will begin in July as well (more details on that soon).

And check out the new Video page on the website, too! It currently features my very first music video, "Boomerangs & Seesaws" as well as live footage from past tours. Yeehaw! And, if you submit video for "Get Outta Town," you'll be on that page, too! The deadline to submit your footage has been extended -- read all about it here. I want YOU to star in my next video!!

Who wants more tour dates? I've got 'em!

Since I last checked in, I've added a whopping seven more dates to the summer tour schedule and more are coming in every day! The full list is at the bottom of this newsletter, and you can always get the most current info at shannoncurtis.net/tour-dates.

Advance tickets for Sacramento CA and Burlington VT

If you're planning to come to the Sacto or Burlington shows, get your tickets in advance! For Sacto: harlows.com, click on tickets and find my name (ahem, it's "Shannon Curtis," in case you need a reminder...). For Burlington, click here to get your tickets directly from me, and THANK you because It will help me out a lot if you get these VT tix before the show. :)

I need your help -- BIG time!

So, as you might have guessed, I'm doing all I can to get the word out about my new EP. I could totally use your help in a few different ways. Let me know if you can lend a hand in any of these ways:
Do you write a blog? If so, I would just LOVE it if you'd blog about Why Don't You Stay? and my summer tour. If you're into it, send me an email and I'll send you a press release, publicity photos -- all that you'd need to git 'er done. ;) Then send me the link to your blog post and -- with your permission -- I'll link to it from my website and share it with my fans!
Do you read music blogs? If so, which ones do you read? Send me the urls -- I'd love to check them out.
Are you on Facebook? If so, you should absolutely join the "I Heart Shannon Curtis" FB group! I've created FB events for every show on the tour. Here's where you come in: RSVP to the show in your town and then send invitations to your friends to come along! Thank you to those of you who have already done this. You're the BEST!
For those who want to go above and beyond... Take a look at the tour schedule beyond your hometown. Do you know somebody in Chicago? Or Washington DC? Or Nashville? Or any of the other cities on my route? Send them a FB invitation to the event in their town or just a regular ol' email telling them about the show! With your help, we will spread the love all over the US! Go team!
What I did last weekend...

I had the privilege and honor to perform last weekend for a group of families at the Me-One Foundation's Camp Challenge. Me-One is an organization dedicated to providing adult cancer patients and their families with an environment where they can be allowed to embrace life without cancer as the first and foremost thought of their every waking moment. I had SUCH an amazing time with everyone there at what some of us affectionately call the "Cancer Sucks Camp." If you have a minute, take a peek at the awesome things that Me-One is doing.

Don't forget to start following me on Twitter! All kinds of fun tour updates will be coming your way when I hit the ground running on July 10. Talk to you soon!

Is that a "yes" I heard you say? Well, then, get on over to my Myspace player -- it's the first and only place for now to listen until the EP is officially released on July 14th! Remember, you'll be listening to not-so-good-quality Myspace mp3s, but we'll take what we can get, eh? The EP itself is beautiful. Produced by Grammy-winning producer Charlie Peacock (Switchfoot, Sixpence None the Richer, Amy Grant) in Nashville, TN and mixed here in LA by Joe Zook (One Republic, Modest Mouse, Katy Perry). I'll be bringing lots of copies with me on my summer tour, and they'll be available online in July as well. More info on that later. :)

And now.... Starring YOU.... the new Shannon Curtis video!

Ok, don't get all hyped up: I didn't sneak into your house and get secret footage of you for my video. That's creepy, anyway -- who would do that?! Ew. But I digress... You've heard my new song "Get Outta Town," right? If you haven't, well then check it out here. Or here. Go on! We'll wait...... tick-tock-tick-tock.... :) Ok, so we're going to make a video for this song! And by "we" I mean YOU.... AND me. Wanna get in on it? Here's what I need from you:

Take some video of you, you and your friends, you and your kids, you and your dog, you and your grandma driving around town, out of town, on the highway, in the country, in the mountains in your car -- economy car, convertible, beefy truck, classic car, junker -- I want them all! Then send me the video file and we'll put you in the music video! Then you'll be able to tell all your friends, "Hey, I'm in a music video!" and you'll have the Youtube link to prove it. Sound fun? Read on for more specific instructions.

1) Don't do anything dangerous! I don't think they've made a law about making a video

2) Take shots from a few different angles. Here are some ideas: from the passenger's seat to the driver, from the driver or passenger's seat out the front window or side window, from the backseat to the rearview mirror, from the backseat out the back window, from the passenger's seat to a bunch of people crammed in the back seat. Be creative! Come up with your own shots, too.

3) Look like you're having a good time! Sing along to the song if you can, or bounce around to music -- the song is about getting out of town and forgetting about all your cares. So live it up!

4) You can take the video with a video camera if you have one, or a still-shot camera that has video capability, maybe even your cell phone -- if you have a really cool cell phone. The quality only has to be good enough to go on the web, so don't sweat it if you don't have some hi-tech HD panoramic 3-D IMAX camera thingy, ok?

5) The files can be in just about any format -- our video editor will figure out how to transfer them to the format we need. You can send physical copies like DVD or mini-DV. Or you can send AVI files, Quicktime files, .mp4 files, or other electronic files to me via email. If you're going to send a package with a physical copy, email me for an address to use.
while driving yet, but be safe, ok? We want everyone to live through this project.

6) DEADLINE: The sooner, the better, but let's have all the submissions in no later than Sunday, June 7. That gives you 3 and a half weeks to get 'er done! Ok, now get to it!! :)

Whew! I'd say that was a mouthful. Thanks for reading. And as always, thanks for the support and encouragement you give me in what I do. What would I ever do without you? Listen to good music, and we'll be hearing from each other soon!

Hi there boys and girls!

Let’s synchronize our watches, er, calendars: July is the month I’ll be hitting the road in the VW once again with a brand-new EP in my hand and a whole lotta love songs to play for you! Yeehaw!

The EP was produced by Grammy-winner Charlie Peacock (Switchfoot, Sixpence None the Richer) in Nashville and is being mixed here in LA by Joe Zook (One Republic, Modest Mouse, Katy Perry). It features some amazing musicians: Jerry McPherson (guitar), Mark Hill (bass), Steve Brewster (drums), Matt Slocum (of Sixpence on cello), and Reggie Grisham (of Denver and the Mile High Orchestra on trumpet). You’re gonna flip. It sounds really good. And the really cool part about this EP is that its production was funded by YOU, my friends. Thank you again to all of you who made it possible for me to go to Nashville and make this record. I hope you love it. :)

And then the really fun part begins! I’ll be drive, drive, driving to your city and play, play, playing for you in July and August. Keep in touch with my blog because as new dates are added, you’ll be the first to know.

And here’s where I’d like YOUR HELP: What venue in your city would you like to see me play? What local artists in your town are hot? (I’m always looking for a great local musician to pair up with.) What’s the best place in town for breakfast? Haha! ;) Seriously, I need your help to make it all happen, so chime in! Place a comment here on the blog, or email me.

I hope you’re all doing great. I can’t wait to see you again. Soon!
