Our new College Credit - Singer/Songwriter 101 contest is up and running. This time, we're looking for the best singer/songwriters on Broadjam.

Winning songs from our last College Credit contest were compiled on a CD titled College Credit 101: Indie Rock, which has had great success. Three songs from the disc were placed on television shows (MTV, Oxygen) and the rest made playlists on over 100 radio stations nationwide.

Madison, WI – January 9, 2006 – Broadjam.com, one of the world's largest independent music sites, announced today that it will team with acclaimed video game publisher Konami to find new songs for their hit Dance Dance Revolution® series.

Members of Broadjam.com will be able to upload their music and submit it to Konami starting January 15th through February 28th, 2007. With Broadjam's unique song contest system, fans and musicians will be able to review the songs submitted and give their opinion on how the songs rate.

When the reviews close on March 7th, the results from the contest will determine which songs are presented to Konami.  Two winners will be selected with each person receiving a cash prize as well as the opportunity to have their music featured in future iterations of the Dance Dance Revolution series releasing in 2007.

"Last year's contest was a smashing success. Broadjam's experience, and vast membership, allowed us to find unique music that really matched our game," said Stillwind Borenstein, Music Director for Konami Digital Entertainment. "I'm very pleased and excited to be working with Broadjam again."

With over 60,000 members and an online catalogue of more than 200,000 original songs, Broadjam's huge variety of quality artists ensures that Konami will be able to choose from the best content available.

"We're thrilled that Konami has found so much great music on Broadjam for their products," said Roy Elkins, Founder and CEO of Broadjam. "We're honored to work with Konami again and we look forward to finding the next great songs for their innovative Dance Dance Revolution products."

We often get questions from new members asking us the difference between a profile page and a website, and we'd like to take a minute and explain. With the advent of social networking sites like Broadjam, MySpace, YouTube, etc., the line between a website and a profile page became blurred.

Here's the difference:
A profile page is what you get when you sign up for Broadjam and other sites. It's where your songs, photos, etc. show up after you upload them. Profile pages all look very similar because they're laid out the same way.

Most importantly, you have to come to Broadjam.com to view a Broadjam profile page. That's why your custom URL is probably looks something like www.broadjam.com/bandname. For a website, however, you pick your own web address, which could be something like www.yourbandnamehere.com.

Check out the difference between Broadjam "profiles" and "websites" that other artists have created:

Today is the debut of the Broadjam Artist Showcase! The Showcase will put the best musicians on Broadjam front and center. Here you'll find contest winners and other notable Broadjam members.

The Broadjam Artist Showcase will add new artists each month. We want to give members another place to get exposure on Broadjam and give contest winners a big huzzah for their victories!

Take a look! What do you think? Have you found any artists in the Broadjam Artist Showcase that won you over?

Let us know about the best artist you've found and how they won you over. We think the best way to find new music is word of mouth, so help another artist get exposure and paste their link in your comment.

This week we found Camden Ray, a modern-rock artist from Salt Lake City, Utah. Definitely look him up and while you're there listen to the song "Tokyo". The chorus will get you hooked.

If you'd like to submit a comment about what you're doing, enter it into our announcement blog. Otherwise, leave a comment about the best artist you found this week.
