VIPER ROOM, MON JAN 5
Our first L.A. gig was in West Hollywood, playing the HOLLYWOOD ROXXX party hosted
by Fuckin A(lison) and Fuckin A, it was fun as shit!!! Our good buddies THE UNITED SNAKES opened
and the place was packed with old friends and new. Both promoter and The Viper Room soundguys
have their shit extremely together so it was an absolute pleasure to set-up, play, break down and then
hang out. It was here that we picked up Paul Ena Kostabi and his co-hort visual artist Red Ed for the rest
of our epic adventure. Ena teched for us and it's the closest I've felt to being a Rockstar in 20 years. Red Ed
photographed and Twittered away and it was a great night for us. And if that wasn't glamorous enough
the entire place was crawling with celebs of varying caliber but I ain't gonna namedrop.
NIGHT OFF, TUE JAN 6
Tony Mann hit the studio as a guest on Howie Pyro's INTOXICA Radio Program
You can go here http://jellsmayhemsgarage.podomatic.com/ to listen or go to
INTOXICA RADIO with HOWIE PYRO!!! myspace. Meantime the remainder of the
pack went to El Compadre on Sunset to eat some Mexican (food) and partake in flaming margaritas
and discombombulated service. It was while waiting for a table that we had a brush with
America's 'roided out and most infamous snitch, Dog The Bounty Hunter and his entourage.
Pretty hilarious---Laurie's reaction: Fan-fuckin-tastic, Ash: Huh? Oh...Excellent!
Mine: If this fucker cuts in front of us I am going to make a HUGE FUCKING SCENE.
Well it was a non-issue, the hostess was not impressed and the Mulleted One had to wait.
After that our Myspace friend Frank, and now actually our friend, picked us up in his
wicked automobile and whisked us to the Rainbow where we hung out with friend and filmmaker
Georgia Archer. She's making a documentary about the Music Biz (which rhymes with miz)
in all it's Glory and Profanity. I was interviewed and will have an appearance in it. If you
think I'm cynical now, then you really need to get a load of this. I don't know when it's going
to be released but it sounds like it's gonna be great. I understand it will also feature Sean Yseult,
Henry Rollins, Daniel Rey, and Michael Alago among others.
THE SCENE IN GLENDALE, WED JAN 7
Our friends in SADDLE TRASH hooked us up on the fly with an extra gig. Frank showed
up and we both agreed if we lived in Glendale we'd be at this place every night. Kinda
retro red brick, red lit ceiling panel bar with Bruce Lee movie screened on the wall.
Tim from Viper Room was our soundman again so we were in good hands.
SADDLE TRASH kicked ass! Fun night and we we're glad we got to play on a Wednesday.
SILVER FACTORY STUDIOS, THUR JAN 8
Shit!!! This place is Cooooool!!! It's a big white loft in the middle of nowhere--somewhere in downtown L.A.
Reminiscent of the 'ol Milk Bar in NYC in the 80's. Before we played Ena took us to some crazy place
called the TV Cafe---24 hour tacos, burritos, burgers with outstanding "70's house party in an
insane asylum" decor. Well alriiight then!!!! After we eat we head back to SFS and I have to admit
I was a little concerned about how we were gonna sound in this joint. It's largely concrete
and it was evident that we could make peoples ears bleed if we weren't careful.
The sound guy Rocco was fuckin supreme, he knew how to handle that room and the sound
was KILLER!!! SADDLE TRASH opened the night and it ruled from there on.
Lotsa friends made it down, the vibe was awesome....white carpet stage
and everythang!!! The only bummer was that UNITED SNAKES had to cancel cause their drummer
was sick but the guys came down anyway. Cyril Ruth who booked the show was there
as well. He really helped out above and beyond and we really appreciate it. Friends Howie Pyro,
Tom 5, Steve Darrow, Mitch and Marina Rellas and my transplanted girlies from the
L.E.S. Brooke and Rachel were there. Lotsa laughing, crying (almost) and swapping tales of back in the day.
It was one of those nights you never want to end. Thanks to Cyril, Danie & Rocco for making
it great for us.
DOLL HUT in ANAHEIM, FRI JAN 9
We were really looking forward to playing here. Then we heard we got cancelled!
Our promoter MIg got in there and set it all straight. Let it be known that SMIGMA
PRODUCTIONS does not fuck around!!!! We stopped off at Ena's friend Bobby's house
to borrow drums. What a great guy, we owe him a solid. His wife has a beautiful voice also he played a
recording for us. I wanted to kidnap his neighbors cat, this giant affectionate attention starved fluff ball
that some undeserving idiots leave out year round as potential coyote food. Luckily this cat had the good sense
to camp out in a tree. I would've snagged it and brought it home if Laurie wasn't allergic.
Some people should not have pets. Anyway we got to the Doll Hut to find a really great crowd
and hopefully some of that show will make it to Youtube, a couple of people were taping us that night.
You gotta love a place where the bar merges onto the stage. To say it was an intimate setting would be
an understatement. We opened for PSYCHOSTAR which includes Blare Bitch & Punky who we played
with in '05 at The Anarchy in Downey.
Those gals blew it up in serious fashion!!! Mig took care of us and we headed to Jumbo's Clown Room
for last goodbyes w/friends before we headed to Vegas.
We miss everyone already Boo hoo, sniffle.
DOUBLE DOWN SALOON in LAS VEGAS, JAN 10
Fuck man, I love Sin City!!! So what if the whole place is built on the utter despair
off the backs of total losers? It's a good fuckin' time!!! ...and I'm there to lose anyway.
Ring a ding ding.
What a fuckin' blast! As if hanging out with SADDLE TRASH and Tamara & Johnny
isn't fun enough we get to play also!!! The crowd there was demanding a good time
and so did we. Another friend Johnny from NYC was there with his lovely lady. And we
reconnected once again with our pals from Reality Check TV. Ace had the beautiful and
enchanting Karla Le Vey on his arm. They looked pretty fuckin swank, I gotta say.
Guess it was lucky that our tour collided with the AVN awards to have so many great
people come down. SADDLE TRASH invited me to do Chinese Rocks with em
(R.I.P. Johnny) FUN FUN FUN I think they saw the Youtube of Anti Karaoke in Barcelona hahaha...
We played a furious set, great audience lotsa moshing and the usual shenanigans (I love that word)
RCTV took some video I imagine it'll hit Youtube. I dedicated the set to Paul Kostabi
for all he he did for us, we're indebted, and to Red Ed as well. We say our goodbyes
hit the casino. I'm up, I'm down, up, up again, down. Blackjack, Roulette and slots
(yes I am a sucker for slots). Around 5am we go to sleep briefly, get up early and head back home.
We'd like to say HUGE THANKS to everyone who hooked us up, when you come to NY Shitty
we'll do our best to make it grand for you.
XOXOXO
