In the midst of carbon copy rockers such as Nickelback and Daughtry, Brandon Calhoon reminds us there's still hope for rock music.

Calhoon takes the best aspects of rock legends like Kravitz, Skynard and Clapton and tailors them to his own music. The result is pure rock with tinges of blues, funk and country on his debut EP, Detroit City.

Calhoon took his luck as a finalist on the reality show, Rockstar: INXS as an opportunity to craft five smooth and crisp-sounding songs for his EP.

The EP starts out hard with "Detroit City" and keeps the momento through the popish last song, "Yeah Yeah Yeah." In between, Calhoon keeps his songs fresh with Kravitz-influenced "Golden Boy" and "No Place to Hide," with an opening that competes with Zeppelin.

Be sure to catch Calhoon January 23, when he'll rock Detroit at his CD release party.

Blunk Street Music is thrilled to announce our partnership with Detroit artist, and RockStar: INXS finalist, Brandon Calhoon. Brandon, Chris & Jeff spent the summer
recording some tasty jams and the result is posted for your listening (and
buying) pleasure! The 3 tracks, "Detroit City", "Golden Boy" and "Hello
Sunshine" represent Brandon's rock/soul songwriting skills, partnered with
the Blunk Brothers engineering and producing 'Neo-Motown' sound. Look for
the full 5 song EP in October!!!

I think it's a good time for a change people!! For the last 4 years I have been working consistently as a solo artist, singer song writer as most call it. I'm elated to announce new chapter in my musical life joining forces with Blunk Street Music, Christopher Plum and Jeff Hupp.
Over the last 10 years, owners Chris Plum and Jeff Hupp have collectively covered the world in supporting their brand of Detroit rock and roll. Chris Plum, the lead singer/songwriter for one of Detroit's most beloved bands "The Mood Elevator", has provided music for The Detroit Redwings, performed music for commercials and late night television, as well as syndicated television shows. Chris has toured the world opening for bands like The White Stripes, Beth Orton, Sonic Youth and The Flaming Lips. He also appears in the now-legendary indie films, "It came from Detroit" and "Detroit Rock Movie." He has also contributed songs to various compilations, such as Plumline Records tribute to Canadian Rock Bands (2004), Startime International Records Supercuts (2003), and Groover Recordings Jeans and Summer compilation (2003).

Partner Jeff Hupp has played over the years with countless Detroit area bands and artists. As bass player in the now-defunct Detroit band, "The Atomic Numbers", Jeff toured the States, and played major music festivals, including South by Southwest in Austin, TX, North by North by Northeast in Toronto, ONT, and CMJ Music Marathon in New York. He has had music placed in several advertising campaigns, including the Budweiser "unsigned music search", and has had music appearing in film, within the Jeff Daniels 2001 movie "Supersuckers." Jeff has also worked in the Detroit advertising world for over 10 years, working for J. Walter Thompson and Yahoo!
