Exactly as the subject line says. It's a good song.. and I know what it means now. The thrill of living the first part of your life is childhood. The bliss of childhood. In this state we're naive, ignorant, and attached to our parental figures. It's great and we're happy until we realise what kind of people our parental figures really are. Life goes on. We get over it and we enter the teenage years. Most teens are still naive and ignorant, and most are still fighting to keep their states of bliss. This is still a thrill I suppose, but.. not for me. After that part of my life, the childhood stage, ended, all I can think about is leaving here and getting my own ranch and living as far away as possible as I can from my parental figures. My thrill of living has been long long gone. I get yelled at for everything, I get put down, lied to, smacked upside the head, grounded... uh yeah you can say I'm not too peachy keen about living or the "thrill" of it. The third part of life is adulthood. People will reach this at various times because people don't all grow up right at 18 or 21. I believe I reached this part of my life at 13... but I haven't gotten the new thrill of living it because I'm being held back. In a way... I am using an excuse because I could just get up and leave. I've thought about that many times. But I don't want to drop out of school, so I grimace and bare it. Two more years... then the thrill of living returns to vanish later on, but hell.. at least I'll be the reason it vanishes this time.
Oh yeah, life goes on
Long after the thrill of living is gone, sayin'
Oh yeah, life goes on
Long after the thrill of living is gone
*
Oh, let it rock, let it roll
Let the Bible Belt come and save my soul
Hold on to sixteen as long as you can
Change is comin' 'round real soon, make us women and men
